Change your weapons to fit the map? Try it
Are you being out gunned while you have your scout equipped? Or while trying to shotgun?
Become flexible! Go to a pulse on maps with shorter fire lanes. Try a fusion on a map with tight, mid range tunnels. The opponent is amazingly compliant in marching at you in line...
Being sniped? Avoid the lanes and flank. It feels great to turn a corner on say, Pantheon, to see a hard scoping sniper as you fire up a fusion. You know he's just cartoon-crapped in his cartoon pants at the sound.
Nerf yourself, and by that I mean think, thank, thunk out of a singular mindset. Every puzzle has a solution... every load out you face has a counter.
Enjoy your game more and more by experimenting.

2 RepliesI used to all the time, but now I only switch if it's a big map. I've been trying to get really good with First Curse and I've gotten kind of hooked on it. It's good at close and mid range, while most weapons are only best at one range, so it still does well. On large maps I switch to a scout. FC is better way outside of normal hand cannon range, but it can't handle that.

I did until I discovered that Hung Jury + Plan C = any map. I just have to keep my planned engagements long range and I'm prepared for the rush.

Swap between either mida & conspiracy/jabberhakke or arminius & sniper, I'm not amazing at pvp or anything but I know it helps to change loadouts for different maps. Even if I do just swap between 2 pretty standard loadouts. [spoiler]wish I could say I used a fusion rifle at all anymore[/spoiler]

4 RepliesIf you switch weapons in between rounds means you suck ass. If you can out gun someone with a weapon that isn't designed for that kind in gunfight then it means you have to skill

but that isn't the game we bought. it also really isn't that way in other games, as far as primaries are concerned. in year one we were able to use whatever type of weapon we wanted at any range. i was a well above average last word user, but a very skilled mida user would beat me in gun fights at close range because the strafe game was so strong. you would map two shot someone with the messenger/hopscotch/red death, or you could do so up close. obviously tlw, thorn and hawkmoon were all strong at any range as well. then it came down to preference. having so many restrictions on effective ranges of primaries creates very passive play. because you can't challenge at half the ranges against certain weapons with certain weapons, all it does is encourage baiting and camping to force your desired range. it doesn't work. just look at the game as it stands. this is the worst it has ever been as far as primaries are concerned. no one even uses them

Edited by FrenetiCreature: 4/5/2016 3:29:39 AMI use Grasp of Malok and a Havoc Pigeon. Grasp works pretty good at medium to long range. Pigeon works pretty good at short to medium range. I stay out of sniper lanes as much as possible and back pedal and spam Pigeon shots into shotgunners. I win some I lose some. But, I've pretty much got a good portion of all areas covered. It works. That's pretty much the long and the short of it.

4 RepliesNah, it's better to just cry about it, call people tryhards and sweaty's, and scream at Bungie for nerfs. Avoid sniping lanes? Pfffft! Snipers should be banned, except mine. They also need to ban shotguns, Midas, Doctrine, Grasps, Last Words because I don't have those. Also ban supers, grenades, overshields, and melee attacks. Buff me.

I *love* flanking snipers with Invective on Pantheon... My hatred for that map has decreased considerably after switching to this strategy...!

A lot of people seem to forget this simple concept... That and a lot of weapons right now are effective at ranges they shouldn't even have a chance at.

Agreed. I always thought that was always part of PvP play, until I played this game. Ppl running around using the same gear map after map. I try to keep at lest enough gear and weapons on my character so I can change up things based on the match or map.

7 RepliesI stopped using my TLW and have been on Mida for a while, playing a game of salvage recently I wasn't doing very well and they kept rushing us, so I switched back to good ole TLW and I ended with 20 kills 10 deaths and we won the game by a decent margin salvaging probes
