From a gamer who has been gaming since my Ma bought me mario brothers for NES at the age of 3, I can't really thing of too many gaming experiences better than attempting and finally beating the Vault of Glass during the first few weeks when Destiny released.
This isn't a debate about what you feel about destiny currently ( it has its issues but I still enjoy it thoroughly) so leave the negativity at the door.
Other gaming experiences that have personally stuck with me even to this day:
-Playing through and beating super metroid a hundred times.
-Playing through SOTN multiple times before discovering there's another castle to play through.
-Playing through and finally fully completing Zelda OoT. Spent days on the water temple
-Getting all 120 stars in Mario 64
-Beating all the Ultima Weapons in FF7
-Xenogears in its entirety was mind blowing for me as a youngin
-Golden Eye with friends
-Metroid prime
-Playing through the original MGS
-Diablo 2 and the expansions and my WW Barb
-My first online shooter experience with CoD
Never did the strategy guide thing and it was a lot of fun
All of these games and the experiences I had playing them stuck with me even to this day.

Haha, the irony in the title

1 ReplyVog was supposed to be the last raid from the first game I bet.. They gave us an old version this game really screwed us out of an awesome game. All those weapons were supposed to be end game weapons thus why they are sooo much better than the crap now
-
You play Metroid. Nothing else matters.

I love VoG so much, theres a reason I paid $105 for that limited edition VoG concept art.
-
Vog was excellent. Sold me on destiny. Crota lamps were also amazing. Crota could have been if not for the easy cheesing. Kings fall just lacks atmosphere in my opinion, even though it has cool features.
-
Did you mention metroid? You might have just became my best friend. Metroid is hands down my favorite series of all time.
-
Walked a newb through VOG THE other day OMG and WOW reactions were awsome.

I was just telling a co-worker the other day the wonders of xenogears, it's pretty amazing the amount of gamers, especially rpg lovers who have never even heard of it. Xenosaga had its moments but nothing like gears

It truly is. So many memories.

2 RepliesEdited by Squasher: 12/19/2015 8:44:38 PMgetting the "Little Rocket Man" achievement in Half-Life 2 Episode 2 is still one of the crowing moments in my gaming career. i can honestly say ive only met one other person that carried that damn Gnome most of the way through that game.

And look at where we are now in Destiny. It's a shame we've fallen so low, even though we were low to begin with
-
that feeling of unknown when you entered the trial of kabr personal favorite raid
-
I can't believe we're both from the same era. Or you could be telling a lie. If you think it's a master piece then you have very low standards for a gamer.
-
1 ReplyI like kf better, the oracle and conflux is boring to me
-
It was the pinnacle of Destiny endgame. Was it a Masterpiece? No, far too many random glitches the 1st month.
-
Anyone have that heartbreak that when you meet Yoshi you can't ride him

Lfg 2 players 1 295 light other lvl 34 player

6 RepliesEverything from vault of glass was epic. The gear, the weapons, vision of confluence, Fatebringer, Pratoerian foil, found verdict, vex mythoclast, no other weapons group have even come close to VoG

Southshore vs. Tarren Mill. Mic drop.

23 RepliesEdited by JHarv: 12/19/2015 7:39:16 AMVoG on release: - Kill regular adds that spawn in 3 waves - Die and respawn up top so you can shoot Oracles with snipers from a safe distance - Push the Templar off the edge with grenades - Run through a short maze - Jump a couple platforms - Kill more regular adds while two players enter portals to pick up relics after killing one Hydra - Push Atheon off the edge with grenades I fail to see where this is "A masterpiece of modern gaming" I'm just playing Devil's advocate here. I really enjoyed the raid, but let's face it. It was full of bugs, glitches, and could have been so much more given its design. The design was fantastic. But most of it was about 1-2 competent people carrying the group. You needed 1 good relic runner (two for Gatekeepers) and everyone else was just kind of standing around pointing and shooting like it was a simple strike. Kingsfall, mechanically, is much better for teamwork. Requires more communication and more participation from all players. I'd love to start seeing longer raids that are so difficult, only a handful of clans accomplish them in the first week. My idea of raiding is struggling for weeks to get your first clear, and once you start gearing up, it becomes easier. With this game, everyone accomplishes the most difficult raid within hours of its release. It really needs to all be scaled up, in both length AND difficulty. 3-4 bosses the are put on farm by week 2 just isn't enough to keep people engaged for months.

1 ReplyI miss VOG. Wish they could revamp it for relevance in ttk

All the raids in destiny are the most fun that I have had in my 30+ years of gaming.

1 ReplyEdited by ash: 12/19/2015 9:08:17 AMCan't say I disagree. As a fan of MMOs and a fan of Halo, it was great to see the two combined without losing the ominous, intimidating feeling of a massive boss (that you and your online buds have to bring down together).

I really do agree
