I just read an article about the remaster (remake?) of 'System Shock 2' being due out in June, so I'm interested to know if the first and subsequently the second games are worth me checking out. I might've asked this question before, but I don't remember for sure so any opinions or insights are appreciated.

Edited by Ambo: 3/27/2025 12:46:42 PMI’ve played SS2 but haven’t played 1. Considering picking up the remake of 1 as I’ve heard good things about it. 2’s a great game if you’re a fan of Bioshock, although i remember the engineering deck section of the game being kinda confusing on my first playthrough. As for SS3, it’s been in development hell for years now, as apparently Nightdive isn’t working on it anymore. Beginning to worry it might get cancelled.

Never played them, but Bioshock, Bioshock 2 (not Infinite), and Prey are its spiritual successors to my understanding. So, if you like those three games, you’ll most likely enjoy System Shock.

Back in the day, both System Shock and System Shock 2 were amazing. Definite steps forward in videogaming. I've got no idea about the sequel to SS1, but remember my nostalgia excitement picked up when it was announced. I just forgot about it and now I'm thinking I need to go back and check it out.
