Lobby balancing is a big issue in Trials

Bungie needs to take a different approach when balancing lobbies. Majority of my matches my teammates are bad while the opponents are equal to me or better. It’s to the point where it feels like bungie is punishing me for something. I am a 1.3kd this season and over 1600 elo. Most of my teammates are below .50kd. Majority of the time if there is 2 bad players they will end up on my team. It just blows my mind that they are ok with the state of matchmaking. We have a dedicated crucible team now this should be at the top of there list. If Bungie cared enough about the state of trials as they do there Pronouns, trials would be amazing again. I hope they can fix these issues.

      • So there's a bit of confusion i've seen in the comments I think should be cleared up. Matchmaking and lobby balancing are almost, but not quite the same thing, at least when players talk about it. Matchmaking is the parameters the game follows to find the people participating in the game, the lobby balancing is how the game divides those players up within the game. And what this person is saying, is true, the game looks to try and find an 'average' skill level in the lobby, but in order to offset good players, it pairs them with low skill players, pitting them against usually mid skill players. What this really turns out too, is a feeling of one person shouldering the responsibility of the entire team to win the game. Its not good for high skill players, because they have to content with usually more player who're competent enough to use their abilities and ammo meaningfully enough that they can't steamroll, like they would against their own team. The teammates on their team have to play people across the board higher skilled than themselves, being target practice just because one player on their team is expected too do all the work. Obviously, this isn't always the case, but this also isn't an issue that people say happens every time. But as you get better as a player, at least in the games eyes, this will happen more often, and in more extreme examples.

      • Matchmaking has been a joke for a while. If they went to SBMM it's cause a problem for higher tiers/streamers complaining and it would ruin their ONLY effective marketing. Keeping it CBMM means people fireteam up and then you get put against them because of their "algorithm" to make matchmaking "fair." Which means you gotta hold some clan's pocket in crucible. Despite what they say, there is no evidence a security team still exists after the layoffs and I've even seen cheaters in quick play, which by the way, @bungie how f*cking bad is your studio when they can't even spot the same dude with 95%+ headshot accuracy in all the playmodes. Even your best PvP player with normal human reflexes aren't THAT accurate. This is why I gave up on the game outside of weekly bounties. It's basically "kill it with fire" at this point. I highly doubt I'll stick around for the final shape even though I probably can't get my money back for it. Too many issues, spent ridiculously too much money, and no one remaining to fix issues.       • Would you like to know something I've noticed is a consistent problem on the forum? Everyone that posts a complaint about the matchmaking insists they [i]always[/i] have the worst players on their team and the opposing team [i]always[/i] have the best. I have to wonder what the statistical probability of that actually happening is.

        • Trials is not supposed to have team balancing. Solo queue is pot luck who ends up on your team.

          Trials is fine solo The better you are the less luck is involved apart from that let it be and stop complaining better players than you likely look at getting you on there team as you look at getting the 0.5s on your teams everybody’s trash to somebody it dosernt matter you can’t win em all

          • The way that gamemode is made supports that kind of matchmaking since it’s a 50/50 between a free win or a flawed card. Still really dumb to balance around a high level PvP mode around that.
