Lately there has been a "trick" to where you can have your nat open but it still is moderate on the xbox one ( which is the platform i use... sadly ). Please for any reason dont use it, as it will confuse the system and youll have errors left and right
if you want you're NAT open, there are a few ways you can do this, the simple way and the more complicated way. If you don't have experience in port forwarding, I recommend step one down below. If you have experience in networking Ill share the port forward information here in this post. my GT is HyperAlaskan im an xbox one and 360 gamer I like to help ALL gamers on ALL plat forms. I do hope this helps everyone out!
NOTE- I am not responsible for anything you do to your router, this information is from the bungie help section and Microsoft website and also with experience with networking. I will not access your router for as its not my information to have.
NOTE 2: yes this also does work with UK gamers and other countries
OPENING NAT Log into your router- most routers like linksys passwords are admin-admin or leave log in blank and password is usually admin. Use google or contact your ISP to find your log in information.
under NAT or Network and gaming tab find UDNP and check enabled. ( note depends on your router your UDNP can open NAT on multiple devices.
STEP 2- Port forwarding Ports that should be unblocked to play the game:

To those of us that use a wifi hotspot such as my self...none of that works as cell signal is buried behind different structuring. However, I've never had an issue with mine. I can always start a party chat and get around the problems of voice chat...but game chat by default won't work. But if I go to party chat and select game chat, problem solved...weird...and it's a strict nat(3).

1 ReplyAfter spending literally days and weeks on the phone with xbox and my isp, I am quite a master at opening ports and making my NAT open and bridging routers, etc. I had a stint of crappy routers 6-7 years ago that I had to work for hours upon hours to open my NAT and so now I can pretty much guess any router ip, password and I can configure it to have an open nat within a few minutes. Not bragging, just stating that trying to open NAT settings can be very frustrating but after spending so much time figuring it out, you'll never have trouble doing it ever again.

if they did this, most would see how bad they actually are at crucible.

This post is to help those who need it everyone else second guessing can go some were else. No you don't have to open all these ports find the few that work with your system. Read the first part of the post, actually shows a quicker method under network and gaming to open your nat without port forward cause a lot of gamers don't know how to.

8 RepliesWill this fix how I have NAT issues with certain friends which disables mic chat? I have att u verse type 2 nat if that helps
-
6 RepliesOn XBOX ONE. Go to Settings>Network>Test Multiplayer Connection>Let it run>once it stops HOLD RB,LB,RT,LT all together until the page changes. Go back and your nat will be open. I have my ports forwarding like you have shown in your post, but sometimes the NAT is still moderate. This fixes it every time. After a couple times of turning your box on and off you may have to do it again, but it isn't a huge deal, you don't even have to sign out and you can do it mid game.

5 RepliesEdited by LordofChaos: 2/9/2015 12:24:46 PMabsolutely no way am I forwarding nearly 10000 plus ports just to my xbox for a game ever. it causes other applications on my computers not work. it should not be required ever. Only the default ports for the xbox should be needed. the only reason they state to many is to try and force all other systems off the network when the game is running. sorry not happening I have other things running that will stay running. I am not devoting 100% of bandwidth just to the console by forwarding all those ports basically blocking all other computers that may need any of those ports from being able to connect properly. nor should you need to forward 80 or 53 sine 80 is the common port that is used for web browsing and not really used by video games and 53 is dns and should not be forwarded to just one device unless that device is running a dns server. 3074 and 1001 are for chatting via the kinect if you dont have a kinect you dont really need to forward those either.

Find my group wall and I posted this as well. I think my way is easier to understand. Devils Den

The only problem with this advice is the only people capable (or willing) to do this probably aren't the ones having the issues.
-
8 RepliesJsyk, some routers are incapable of having an open NAT because of the service provider. For example, in my old apartment it didn't matter what I did to my router because everyone in the apartment complex had moderate or strict NAT because of the provider

Edited by morbidinfant: 2/9/2015 11:18:41 AMIt won't work in certain situations like college or shitty ISP:( I have tried everything I can do . Now I simply use VPN on my laptop and share that connection with my PS4.

1 Replysince most routers support UPnP I'd like to quote the referenced bungie help page:
UPnP is also typically the best solution if you have more than one gaming console on your network as each required port can only be forwarded to one console at a time. If you have UPnP on and no other forwarding rules and the problem still occurs, or if your networking hardware/setup doesn’t support UPnP, ONLY THEN attempt to forward ports manually.
for most users that means: you don't have to do anything and nat type 2 is just fine.

I have absolutely no NAT issues but I am not opening ports 80 or 443 on my router because my ISP scans for those ports and I don't want to lose internet from the only provider in this city.
-
2 RepliesThis might be off topic - my X1 network settings state I have an open NAT but Destiny says I have a strict NAT. Is this indicative of the need to port forward or are the Bungie servers having a lend of me? I never had this issue with the 360 whilst playing Destiny.

1 ReplyI live with a guy who has been working with computers since they were available to the public, and he now works maintaining programming for things like Payroll at West, and yet, he's done all sorts of things to try and fix the NAT on not only my XbOne, but also my 360, and every time, it works for like a day, and then my NAT closes again. If he's given up on making this stupid shit work, I doubt my NAT type will ever remain open.

6 RepliesI have two Xbox One consoles on my home network. One of the consoles has the NAT open, while the other is Strict. I have not had any issues with either console save the occasional WEASAL error on the Strict console. Is this related to the Strict NAT type, unrelated, or indicative of bad things to come?
