Doesn't make sense to me. Destiny is a generational video game. The potential had no ceiling and for the past 10 years it has proven that. Maybe I have no clue but as a video game development studio why would you throw a proven game in the trash for a trash game that's proven nothing? Maybe one day Marathon will grow and outweigh Destiny.... but I doubt it. It's just mind-blowing you'd move your full attention elsewhere.

2 RepliesEdited by Ares-14: 4/12/2026 3:16:37 PMI know I may get flamed for this, but I think marathon has really good potential as a game. I thoroughly enjoy playing it, although randoms are a bit lacking. Edit: I am NOT saying I support bungie's actions with destiny. I think that they should have chosen destiny over marathon, even if marathon does succeed. Driving away your entire player base is not a good move, and just shows that you feel no loyalty towards your players.

Destiny player base was jaded and entitled and Bungie knew eventually they’d have to take thing away to make the game appealing again. They were hoping they could milk the player base for as long as possible and set up other revenue streams to supplement the level of profits that were impossible to bring back. Marathon wasn’t meant to replace Destiny.

Destiny is done and Marathon won't be far behind it.

1 ReplyDestiny is a failing product it's seen less and less revenue for years now it only makes sense to try to move on from it as D2 is no longer able to support the studio on its own. Bungie got unlucky with marathon foe many reasons.

I guess the video game industry missed out on you as a visionary and strategic thinker. Especially for you since I seriously think you might misinterpret it... /s.
