Its among the worst things in the history of the game. Every single mechanic that requires matterspark just get in the way of enjoying the game.

They'll make matterspark the go-to for everything If we hate it, they'll love it. Bungie Meeting: "The keep crying that we refuse to bring back sparrow racing during the winter holiday, they say we're no fun. Let's make them race matterspark, but not on tracks, just endless platforming onto postage stamp landing areas."

This is the main reason (after paying full price since 2014) I am F2P. What. Utter. Garbage.

Kepler, somewhere else other than Neomuna to avoid like the plague.

Edited by Hunter_Umbra: 10/16/2025 6:10:24 AMIt’s way overused in the campaign — which is twice as long as past campaigns, which I presume was to incentivize buying the skips — but it’s hardly the worst thing they brought to the game. Anyone who played Season of Worthy knows what I mean.

7 RepliesIt’s a ill thought out gimmick that just added nothing good , I won’t be playing anything that requires me to have to use it again

Matterspark might be one of the most over powered abilities they've even given us lol

1 ReplyI love staying near enemies significantly Higher Power then me and just holding one button to stun them. Such innovative combat mechanics.

Treat it like a sparrow/skimmer to get about Kepler and it’s not so bad.
-
You make it sound like you are using it for hours at a time. You maybe use it 10 min max the whole campaign

After having recently replayed Kepler on both Fabled and Mythic (solo, so I had to do everything by myself) I'd have to say that it wasnt that bad. Do I love the mechanic? Not really but it wasnt a PITA either. The only mission that stands out to me as being somewhat over the top, in terms of the mechanics, is Criticality. That mission drags on forever.

Matterspark is dumb and controls are wonky, for more effective launch you have to jump a split second before boost otherwise you will nosedive off a cliff often. I ran legend on all three characters (mostly solo, except for Warlock), I also got all traits and cat for Graviton Spike, so yes, I do know much about how to use Matterspark but it honestly just feels terrible. I don't need to be Metroid or Sonic in Destiny. Was there a lore explanation or lore entry somewhere explaining why we can shrink into a poke-ball? it seems dumb.

Absolutely agree.

Yea its not fun. But dont give up.

It’s not bad as a mechanic. Having to spend over half my time doing the campaign just trying to figure out all the puzzles they put into the story missions did suck though. Biggest reason I still haven’t completed the campaign on my other two characters.
