Do you have any suggestions on how to get thru the early-game content quickly as a new player? Is there a better order to tackle the game?

1 ReplyMaybe watch a couple of vids going through the early game stuff. It can be very convoluted to figure out.

Edited by Meaga: 12/8/2024 5:43:53 PMThe new light quest I think is a good start. You can also buy stasis fragments and all for glimmer now. I really am not 100% sure since I’ve played the game forever now. Avoid any “starter packs” they sell involving glimmer. or materials Not sure if that is still in the shop but when it was, it was a hilarious ripoff. Materials are easy to get. You guys deserve a more straightforward explanation, bungie needs to do better.

Might want to customize your equipment appearance for cutscenes, especially if saving them. At present, there's not really a way to replay, and armor/weapon/Ghost/ship/vehicle customization shows in the cutscenes. If you want your character's face in the cutscene, disable helmet in Options.

Edited by Dave.: 12/8/2024 2:04:33 PMDon’t play trials yet. Join a clan. (Mine works too) Get some decent looking armor so you are always happy with the way you look Focus on stats and rolls for weapons and armor Find what works best for you. Shadowkeep is the most useless expansion out of all of them. So don’t feel pressured to buy it Final shape is by far the most important expansion Don’t spend your exotic ciphers stupidly (like I did) get some good exotics out of the vendor that is between the vaults in the courtyard Don’t dismantle everything that has a lower power, look at the roll and then decide GET THE FREE SHADER PACK IN THE STORE It’s a game, don’t take it too serious Just have fun. :)

1 ReplyStep 1. Find and join chill clan (Mine is chill and jelpful) Step 2. Do the intro quest as it gives you a good scout Step 3. Do the quests ikora gives you Step 4. If you have brought a dlc do that story I recommend in order so shadowkeep, beyond light, light fall, final shape. Step 5. Don't take thing to seriously just have fun Side advice set small goals for yourself like get good stat armour or progress a bit to a seal

15 RepliesEdited by GradeMyGuardianTTV: 12/6/2024 3:40:42 PMIDK what DLCs you own or don't own. Here would be my recommendation to setting up for a New Player. TRUST ME, there is a alot of QoL suggestions in this list that will greatly benefit you in the long run. IMO it will be more worth your effort to grind a few of these resources out BEFORE churning through campaigns. . 1. Cosmodrome Intro *Complete all the starter quests with Shaw Han. ONCE you are given a ship & told to leave for the Tower, then you'll know you are done with the earliest of steps. NOTHING ELSE I've outlined matters until you get your ship and can leave. . * Risk Runner-Follow the questline to unlock the Exotic . * Ikora: Learning Light- The Warlock Vanguard in the Tower & Class Vendor. Familiarize yourself with her and complete her quests early. . * Tractor Cannon (Exotic Void Shotgun): This is a free super EZ Exotic to access Day One. It is a Heavy Weapon that is used to 'Debuff' Enemies so they take more DPS. It will feel underwhelming as a new player, but it is one of the single best Utility Weapons in the game. It comes from the Shaw Han Chest Key. . *Arbalest- Another underwhelming odd weapon to get 'Day One' but it is another incredible endgame Utility weapon. Learn to like it as a new player, as it will provide much needed utility down the road. It comes from a Shaw Han Quest that is very EZ. . 2. Ikora Rey (Tower) Grow Your Light Quest Line . Depending on what class you are playing, do the following- . * Exalting the Flame Quest=Synthos:Titan . * Taming the Storm Quest=Crown of Tempests:Warlock, . * Into the Abyss Quest=Sixth Coyote:Hunter . I highly recommend Titans go Solar, Warlocks Arc, and Hunters Void. Do what you must to unlock these respective classes from Ikora. This will give you great potential if you run solo to do everything you need to (High DPS, Sustain, Utility), but will also offer quality team support. Yes there's better options out there within the meta, but these are arguably the best starting subclasses for the respective classes. Part of this comes alongside of the assumption that you will in fact grind for the Exotic Armor that Ikora has for each class. Titan & Warlock in particular have incredibly potent endgame builds at their disposal basically Day One if you follow my outline (Solar Synthos Titan; Crown of Tempest Warlock). These setups will make EVERY campaign and activity farm you encounter a BREEZE! . * Fragment Economy- Titans go Solar first, Warlocks go Arc, Hunters go Void. This can be finessed over time. Any time you have +50k Glimmer, go buy Fragments (25k a piece). Know that your Glimmer caps at 500k, so ALWAYS be unlocking Fragments as a new player! . 3. Player Economy Manipulation * Witch Queen- Start campaign, push until you craft the Enigma Legendary Glaive, and unlock ‘The Enclave’; leave the campaign. This will enable 'Weapon Crafting' and 'Red Border' weapons will actually begin to drop for you. UNTIL you complete this mission, you WILL NOT be able to craft ANY weapons! This is paramount to finish ASAP! . * Artifact-Every season has a seasonal artifact. Do not bother with this until you have weapon crafting unlocked via Witch Queen. Then retrieve the seasonal Artifact from it's mission (found in the 'Quests' tab). . * Armor Mods- A critical aspect of the gameplay loop that requires Guardian Rank Ups. Follow the necessary steps and achieve Rank 6 to unlock all mods . 4. Early 'Endgame' Gear * Dares of Eternity- Unlock Dares of Eternity in the world by interacting with Xur. It is a F2P activity that has some quality entry gear. This gear will enable multiple builds and wildly improve your quality of life, as well as bolster basic resources (Glimmer & Cores). . * These are weapons you’ll want to pull from Dares of Eternity, as well as an idealized perk set up. . * ALL Classes- An ‘Eager Edge’ Sword; Dares has TWO swords- ‘The Other Half’ & ‘Half Truths’. Either of them can roll with a perk called ‘Eager Edge’. This perk enables some incredibly useful movement tech. The sooner you learn this tech, the better, as it will enable you to move through the universe much faster. . * Titans- Chase the ‘Wastelander’ shotgun with the perk of 1:2 Punch on it. This is a critical component of melee builds and will service a Solar Synthos Titan (my recommendation for new Titans) very well early. . * ALL Classes- There is a Grenade Launcher called ‘Pardon Our Dust’. This is a great utility based weapon early in the game. Also the standing seasonal artifact is great for Grenade Launchers. To start out, you want ANY ‘Pardon Our Dust’ with the perk ‘Auto-Loading Holster’. This allows you to shoot and instantly ‘stow’ the weapon where it will then automatically reload. . * ALL Classes- This is the ONLY source for F2P to earn a ‘Trace Rifle’. This is a unique weapon archetype that is utility centric. Having one to complete ‘Banshee’ Weaponsmith Bounties is nice. This weapon archetype is particular useful for puzzles given the wide pinpoint hit reg, ample ammo, & a nifty perk called ‘Shoot To Loot’. Keep a Retraced Path with ‘Shoot To Loot’. . * Brave Arsenal- There is an activity through the Vanguard Tab called ‘Onslaught’. Follow the necessary steps with ‘Zavala’ to unlock this game mode. Then at ‘Zavala’ in the ‘Tower’ enter his inventory and select ‘Brave Arsenal Focusing’. There are two weapons you will want to grind for. . * Edge Transit- A Heavy Void Grenade Launcher which is currently a meta choice for a Heavy. You want one with the perk ‘Bait & Switch’. . * Forbearance- An Arc Energy Grenade Launcher. This is great for killing crowds of enemies (ie ad clear). The perk you want to see on this weapon is ‘Chain Reaction’. . IF you follow these steps, you'll be set up for an INCREDIBLE long term journey FULL of SUCCESS! Good luck. 2 RepliesFunny you should ask. . At one point in time I entertained creating a YouTube series for New Lights. Prioritizing which DLCs to buy, what order to do them in, what activities and weapons to focus, etc. . My polling here, on Twitter & on Reddit basically insinuated there was NO reason to do this, as D2 is on it's last legs. That said, I have some outlines of how to prioritize content if you're interested....

There's a lot of nuance to how one approaches "endgame" D2. From what weapons are the best to what builds are the most effective to the order you acquire powerful/pinnacle gear, it really comes down to many variables. If you're looking to raid, then I would say focus more on the weaponry and builds you bring into the raid, since power level will be balanced out to the fireteam leader. This isn't to say ignore your power, but rather it shouldn't be the main priority.

- equip a ghost that has x6 exp, x1 combo, x2 discipline armorer, x1 core - be prepared to be ugly looking for a bit and just keep equipping the highest stat armor you got and save your upgrade modules for later. - decide if you want to play fast through story on easy mode or gain double rewards for legendary campaign, I would do legendary for it clicks some boxes and your getting more gear which you need then just play the timeline in order. try not to do side quests unless you have to and just focus on story - with weapons same as with armor just keep equipping the highest level unless there's one that tickles your fancy - you should get a ton of exotics as you go, chuck them in the vault to sort later but what makes it go real fast is having a teammate with you, even on legendary. bon chance, Wook wook-13-e ** if you need someone to run with
