Dear Bungie,
I love the story of the game and the PVE content, especially the story quests and cooperative content like Dungeons and Raids. This is a rich experience for me and I feel like I get to play the coolest movie of all time with the game and determine the outcome with fellow players and great friends. I'm sure many other players feel the same. That first season of The Final Shape, by the way, was absolutely incredible and I am so grateful for it. What followed (the Acts) has had some good points, but overall has been extremely bare and very repetitive in it's questing...but that is a topic for another post.
I am an older player, much like a great portion of your player base, and I don't prefer PVP in any game, including Destiny 2. I just cannot approach it in a healthy fashion and with a calm demeanor. I do not desire to get better at PVP and it is better if I do not do it at all. I do not need PVP to get better at PVE either. I am a completionist that really does want to get everything, but even then PVP is not worth it to me unless I have to.
Yet, you continue to make weekly challenges that require it or have now created a weapon (Tinasha's Mastery) that you can only do Iron Banner to get. For me, that was infuriating from the moment I learned about it. I did grind for it over the last four days, but as soon as I got one with Chill Clip, I'm done and will no longer be doing it as long as possible. Most importantly, I did not enjoy one moment of doing the PVP, even when I did well. I felt the time was a waste and it was frustrating and downright awful to slug through.
Is this really the experience you want for players that do not enjoy PVP?
PLEASE, for the love of the game, DO NOT REQUIRE PVP for weekly challenges or in order to get guns that everyone would really want to have for other content.
If I were to design a game, I would allow players the choice to be able to be dual PVE/PVP players or PVE focused only. They could change this choice before the beginning of any season. This would have the following impact (though I'm sure there's more to think about than what I've put here):
> Seasonal/Weekly Challenges: Would be varied based on the focus selection described above. PVE-only focus players would not have any challenges in PVP content, period. Challenges would vary between PVE and PVP focused players. For me, I would gladly spend MORE TIME on a PVE challenge than half the time on a PVP challenge.
> Armor & Weapons: I would design separate armor pieces and weapons with separate perks from PVE content armor and weapons that either only worked in PVP, or were enhanced in PVP only. This way, you would have no reason to use PVP-obtained gear in PVE content (but could if you want). However, if you're a big PVP player, farm away for the best gear you want and they'll be extremely useful in PVP.
I imagine there are some people that really ONLY do PVP or focus most of their time on it. Great for them. In that case, you could certainly have an option that focuses even far more heavily on PVP and have only minimal PVE in the same ways with the types of challenges they have to do. There are people in my clan that I only see doing PVP and I'm sure they'd love that sort of thing.
Sometimes, the customer wants things easy, and that's not me. Giving in to people that just want things easy is never a good idea and will cripple the game. What I do want, and I know is best for me, is NO PVP. Some things the customer wants, you should take seriously and implement, much like Warframe has done with it's customers. I think this is the key to better business practices and a far more enriching player experience, which I do hope is what you truly want to provide.

Edited by A_mo: 12/4/2024 4:55:22 AMThe PvP players that are left must simply humbly beg of Bungie to gibby us the PvP. There's really nothing left for anyone to do or for them to listen to.

Edited by Vyper: 12/4/2024 4:34:20 AMThink in reverse also My brain hurts from farming PvE and I would rather farm hatemail for content and self enjoyment I don't wanna play PvE for top class PvP guns like matador Edit: you made that point and I have brain problems

3 RepliesWant the thing, do the thing. It's the way it works and not just for PvE. PvP mains have to step outside their comfort zone to get weapons and armour too.

1 ReplyTechnically it is optional, there is no need to run PvP if you don't want. Sure, you won't get the newest weapon but if you wait long enough then they likely will have an alternative. Personally I don't really enjoy PvP either but even if you loose you get a fair amount of loot and progress on unlocking the new weapon which is only the first tier of the reward track.

This game has dual problems of not serving casuals well enough with pve and PvP being twisted with the matchmaking. Whatever they do in the future, they should do what makes the game look the absolute best visually for everyone.

19 RepliesThey should keep doing it. I love having pve burgers to farm in PvP. It’s really humbling for them because actual people shoot back unlike the dregs they are used to 😂. They just run the cheese anyway. It’s almost as if PvP is also part of the game and not just a little corner reserved for masochists. The same can be said for PvP players having to play pve for a much of the best PvP gear.

Agree

1 ReplyYeah i agree but they will never remove pvp because of the pvp streamers .. They play pvp 24/7 . If they would remove pvp then they would lose their pvp streamers aswell . It is also because of them that stuff gets nerfed cause it is getting abused by pvp players and pve gets punished for it . Look at the titan bubble for example . Most recent nerf because of pvp , again . The pvp streamers are litterally making videos about what is broken so everyone can see it and use it themselves untill it gets nerfed . Then they find something else that is broken .. Yet bungie praises them cause they are "making content" wich is just breaking the game . 😂

4 RepliesDestiny is built on earning loot from all aspects of the game and taking it to the others. I only got into PvP for that reason. I think it’s fine for you to just play PvE but you can’t expect to get everything if you do. If you want a rocket sidearm in that slot then you can craft the one from the pale heart.
