I've been letting my thoughts kind of simmer on end of WQ start of LF, but I figure I'll give my feedback maybe in the hope that something conducive can become of it.
But this difficulty is getting kind of ridiculous, the nerfs to resilience and slight tweaking to spark of resistance, the whole 5 light disadvantage just makes every piece of content far more frustrating then it needs to be, during season 19 I'd routinely be running past the "darkness envelops you" point in the mission at about 15 minutes, to my understanding that only happens if you take too long on a mission, now booting into the defiant battlegrounds, the very same thing happened, only "darkness envelops you" now occurs at 20 minutes not 15, that run took 25 minutes btw.
I just want the seasonal activity to take less time. Ideally instead of just making enemies tankier and dealing more damage, simply making some kind of simple mechanic to deal with instead of just being weaker stat-wise would be far more enjoyable. Regardless of that though, having a playlist that gives fewer rewards yet has no power level disadvantage, or boosting the rewards of a more difficult in-between legend playlist that has more rewards and matchmaking, while giving the current reward pool to a weaker playlist would be much appreciated.
This is to say I don't mind difficulty being added back to destiny, but having it be forced down my throat despite the fact that I vehemently dislike it isn't enjoyable. Legend campaign would be the ideal to strive towards, didn't particularly like it, but I didn't have to complete the campaign on legend if I didn't want to, and I didn't get a different ending for the witch queen story because of it. Though all that being said this is just my point of view, ideally optional but rewarded difficulty should become the norm and reward people who want it, but shouldn't be forced on people that don't.

i am getting royally spanked in the solo legendary campaign with wooden paddles made by seniors with cruel intentions similar to the character ben affleck played in 'dazed and confused'... 🐖 🏌️ -
2 RepliesI'm a 1782 titan and tried a hero nightfall today, I have 10 resil and 90 recovery and I and the other players were dropping like flies. Pre-lightfall I never had problems just having fun rocking an arc titan but now I can barely function and every enemy being a bullet sponge isnt helping either.

My problem is they tried to ramp this up on too many fronts. They made the game harder, ok, cool. They took away armor affinity, awesome! Artifact mods are passive, Great! And that’s the end of the positives. They made us a lot weaker. Destroyed the mod and build system. The surges and focus on forcing you to use a subclass that matches in nightfalls, strikes and missions is over the top. Arc and stasis are left behind all together for the most part, and if you don’t use items that match the surge your gimped and sometimes can not progress for the pinnacle reward. I love destiny, but I am real close to walking away from the game for a while to see if they fix it at all. This constant direction of being guided to use load outs, weapons and subclasses I do not want to use is getting tiring.

I agree SOOOO much on feeling like it's being forced down our throats. It's not fun and now feels like I have less choices. They will show large numbers of players beating Legend mode and cite that as success but I was miserable, only did it for gear and the guaranteed exotic, I was miserable and almost rage quit the game with friends. NO WAY will I play that again on alt characters, it was not enjoyable. Having MORE options is great, add that hard mode for Saltagreppo and streamers, but add an option for power to actually matter, let me OVER-Level an activity or mission and actually FEEL like i am stronger, thats FUN for me, BUT Bungie has taken that away from me and honestly I am not sure I will keep playing. I am a D1 Alpha nut, I've played for years and always wanted a true RPG Shooter. Let me level up and become stronger and lay waste to enemies with ease, don't FORCE me always feel like paper mache shooting a bullet sponge tank for 35 minutes

2 RepliesMy friend everything is about time. That's why they immediately fix anything that gives you an advantage and then plan to fix inadvertent wipes the following season. It's why you get pushed across the map to die. It's why you break your ankles on a small fall. It's why they lower your light. It's why they increase the health of bosses. It's why all bosses go immune. It's why champions are everywhere instead of in the nightfall like they were supposed to be. It's why enemies teleport when you are close to death. It's why we have modifiers. It's why they nerf guns and apparently now builds. It's why there are so many error codes. It's why we have silly wipe mechanics. Most of all it's why they have SBMM. The goal is to get you to play longer. None of what they do is to help you enjoy the game. It's about profit and profit only. Until we as consumers stick together and stop playing will they seriously address the issues. But people are loyal and will play through the bad and not see they are in the darkness. The numbers don't matter so much when they get you to pay before you even see the product. That my friend is the hustle. I am older. I would wait for a game. Wait for the preview then decide. This generation loves to be first. I need it day one. I have to preorder. My steamer said it's amazing. They don't realize this is job for these streamers. They need you to watch the only thing they are good at.

2 RepliesRandom people struggle hard even in seasonal activity. It's so tedious when you constantly need to revive them every 5 seconds. It's the seasonal activity Bungie!!! Not a GM! How tick is that skull? Who in their right mind put a wipe mechanic during the final boss fight of - I repeat - seasonal activity!!??!!?? They need a brain check...
-
Doing the seasonal content with Blueberries sucks. It's just not fun. I had to carry just for us to finish the mission in 40 minutes and the rewards aren't even that good.
-
45 RepliesNeckbeards won't be happy until Destiny is Elden Ring.
-
Solo legendary campaign wasnt too bad for me only Callus triggered me tbh. I was stuck there for a good while. But this seasonal activity triggering me more. That -blam!- hits like master legend content it doesnt feel right.
-
2 RepliesWe were too overpowered for far too long. You have to understand that this had to happen. It wasn't going to be pretty. We power creeped to high. Too much content became obsolete. This is the necessary step to making the game as a whole engaging again.
-
32 RepliesPatrol zones used to be sleep inducingly easy. They have tweaked things to be closer to how Destiny 1 was. Destiny 1 was waaaay more punishing and bullet spongey. I actually die now in the patrol areas and have to actually think about what i'm doing. If you still want easy content, just load up some vanguard playlist.

6 RepliesEdited by Fate: 3/1/2023 6:37:23 PMLol I’ve been doing fine Been playing way below recommended light level currently on the strike stage of campaign Hunter ftw
-
3 RepliesJust play it on easy mode if you can't handle it
-
2 RepliesOn one hand, the nerf to resilience and mods was unnecessary. On the OTHER hand, you mf's also need to get -blam!- good, I solo'd the legendary campaign without infusing for 6 whole missions because I didn't realize it made a difference, and still kept going as a Hunter literally just abusing Assassin's Cowl and survival skills. Yes they are making the game harder for no reason, but you also need to step your damn game up.

10 RepliesEdited by SaltieSeaTurtlez: 3/2/2023 3:11:24 PMThe problem is that this is supposed to be an FPS shooter. Not a platformer. All my deaths in the final boss room are dying from being flung off a ledge and it's so cheap when it happens too. Everything in the room is designed to throw you off the map. Terrible frustrating experience that I personally won't ever want again in my life. Sorry I was raging 😂😂😂😂😂

2 RepliesEdited by KIngJS922: 3/2/2023 3:57:44 AMFacts. Bungie you guys have been -blam!- with your "balancing" since D1, you guys NEED TO STOP LISTENING TO THE NO LIFE TRYHARDS OR YOUTUBERS COMPLAINING THAT THIS GAME IS TOO EASY. I'm trying to do this part on the story and my god man y'all spawn so many enemies, you nerfed our abilities into the -blam!- ground, even with the buildcrafting keeping my abilities up is a pain! Why tf is a grenades cool down 2 minutes and 32 seconds? My dodge went from 15 seconds, respectable cool down for a DODGE, to -blam!- 1 minute? Stop listening to the mfs who have fully premade teams that raid every damn day. All tier 10 stats are now the equivalent of tier 8 previously? -blam!- why? Why nerf resilience? Most things already -blam!- one shot you. This game did not need to be made harder it's a casual -blam!- game to begin with. Stop nerfing all the fun exotics into the ground, when you release a new subclass make it op and nerf it later, shipping it out weak is stupid! But obviously your goal with this expansion/patch was nothing short of make us weaker. I knew I should not have bought the expansion. Over balancing things is not fun and just makes a boring game! Go back to your original concept of making exotics feel op, none of the exotics feel special anymore. If everything is op then that means strategy is needed, stop listening to the people who come in here and cry about how this gun is op, there are no op guns currently. None need a nerf. Stop nerfing things. Ever since the DMT nerfs, nerfs have been completely unnecessary. The last absolutely broken gun was probably... Luna's howl not forgotten and they were still beatable. STOP NERFING -blam!-. Now I can't keep my survivability up no matter how many mod combinations I do. Cool downs too long, abilities too long, grenades too long, even with all the things that help it. Bungie, fire whoever is head of your balancing team

I don’t mind games being challenging but forcing difficulty restrictions like this kind of sucks and makes power level redundant mostly. I went from enjoying the game to getting frustrated with it. I hope they will look into it over time once it’s been live long enough to get data/player feedback on.
-
I completely agree. I think Bungie missed the mark with this expansion.

3 RepliesToday I grabbed some bounties and headed to the Steppes on the Cosmodrome to knock them out. My LL was around 1630 or so, wasn’t really paying attention to it since I went to the Steppes. I went underground to kill those yellow bar hive which I do fairly often just last week actually. Then it happened, they tanked my novabomb and wrecked me. I just looked at my screen thinking the “architect” was up to its usual BS but then I saw LL 1730 recommended (think it was that number?) I was so annoyed that I was having to re-level all over again for BS enemies like these. Those same enemies whom been there since D1!! After that I just turned it off, didn’t have any desire to play anymore. Also, reaching max LL in this game you never really feel powerful and that’s been one of the biggest reasons I don’t play like I used to. Even if I did max out my LL then come next DLC or whatever Bungie would just have us start over again along with more nerfs of course (to increase difficulty).

They counted on resolving two problems with one solution. To keep the streamers/content creators/jobless from burning through content and whining by the end of week two that there was nothing to do, and also stretching out normal difficulty content for casuals. It really points to the problem being that Bungie either can't or won't really try to develop deeper mechanics and systems wherein difficulty is balanced and meaningful time investment is rewarded appropriately. The problem is they had to make it harder for everyone at the beginning because the system they made mandates it. After the first mission youre told to go to Mara and get the quest for the Defiance Battlegrounds. Recommended power level? 1770. When everyone is still 1600-1625. Well, just go play the campaign to level up your gear and then come back. Problem is the campaign's recommended light level also jumps 30-40 levels with each mission so you have to be lucky with your drops, or you have to go run a few Strikes or something and pray it's an easy one. It's not a balanced system and I'm not sure how they arrived at the conclusion that this was something the majority (I don't care about the top 10% of players. they arent spending more than me necessarily on the game so their input, ultimately, is irrelevant outside of maybe PvP) of players would understand, much less enjoy the experience of. I'm fine with Legendary difficulty in something like the Revision Zero as a Solo player. That was engaging, fun, and felt balanced. I don't care for Legend Lost Sectors because of all the factors in play: Shields, Champions, threats and surges (burns and singes). All rotating daily. It's annoying and trivialized the adventure. Again, I don't know who thought this would enjoyable but there is no power fantasy at the moment. It feels like we've been neutered for not only a narrative reason (which isn't explained very well at all) but also to satisfy the whims of some devs who didn't like top players steamrolling the content they'd spent months creating.

3 RepliesExactly it’s just your opinion…..I played I enjoyed and wasn’t too phased but the difficulty 🤷🏼♂️
-
7 RepliesI think it's great so far.

6 RepliesDont understand why poeple dont like a challenge, what do you want? To go into legendary and beat every mission first time? It took me loads of tries to beat headlong boss and calus legit, and it was worth it, it makes me a better player when i come out the other end. Thats what gaming is all about, thats why noobs will always stay noobs.
-
24 RepliesSolo legendary calus was harder than any raid boss I’ve fought 🤣
-
I felt like I had to have at least 80 resilience AND recovery to even survive. -blam!- is lame as hell.
-
18 RepliesI’m playing the campaign on legendary solo. It’s not ridiculous in any way IMO. You just have to take your time clearing adds and move from cover to cover. I’m using a Warlock/Void/Nezarecs Sin, Witherhoard, Aisha’s Embrace/Funnelweb and Royal Entry/Falling Guillotine/Taipan. So far it’s covering everything I need and Sins helps with ability regeneration. Devour/Child of the Old Gods is extremely helpful as well.
