How many vets are there of d1?

Ive been playing destiny 2 but my interest is really starting to fall off. Im thinking of going back to d1 and completing all the quests that dont require a team. What are your thoughts on destiny 2 so far? Edit: nice to see so many of you. I have another question for you all to answer. How would you feel if they merged d1 and d2 to make 1 evolving world like they said in d2 shadowkeep vidoc?

  • I really like D2, but it definitely has its problems still. I feel like there are so many aspects of the game that are near perfect, but are burdened by one or two issues that happen to be huge. Take raids for instance: super dope concepts and encounters to go through, but the loot incentive is terrible, and the challenges are cool, but also don’t have much loot incentive and can be buggy.

  • I started when the taken king expansion just came out and played destiny for the rest of my years until destiny 2 came out I came back to d2 in season of the drifter and got back into destiny

  • i was week 1 d1 player and had lots of hours in d1, i used to raid every week, nightfall every week, trials of osiris and help friends even if i had done the events, i got everything in d1 apart from outbreak prime, in d2 i have one raid completion and a handfull of nightfalls, all my friends don’t play anymore and i have had lengthy breaks too, i mainly play pvp now as i find pve just ridiculous as power level doesn’t matter and feel weak no matter what i play, i enjoy menagerie though

I'm at almost 5,000 hours total in D1 and D2. Even in my case I've taken some days off lately. It is nice that they keep adding new stuff to do. I've tried other games, but keep coming back. I just love the world, the character movement, gun play, etc. I think the game is in great shape for people who haven't played so much. There are more ways to farm specific weapons and armor than ever. Really armor 2.0 is pretty good for people who don't think they need several different perfect PVP builds. I've master worked about 6 armor pieces on one character and have all the PVP flexibility I need. I don't care about perfect builds for PVP on all three characters. Solo players have more to do than ever. The XP grind is fine for solo play. Competitive has a solo playlist, raids aren't critical activities like they were in D1, etc. A few pinnacle activities require teams, but pinnacle rewards really don't matter since the soft cap will keep being raised every season and the artifact allows in season leveling.

  • Took a long break during Y2 and came back just before shadowkeep dropped. I love cross save, I have been enjoying playing crucible despite its issues, aaaaaaand that’s about it lol. They’ve made a lot of great changes and fixes but in its current state the game just doesn’t feel rewarding to play. This is the one game that I can play the same character in while completely changing around my loadout from subclasses to weapons and mods and have an absolute blast in crucible. If it wasn’t for that, I would still be taking a break lol I am enjoying the new puzzle that came out yesterday. Spent hours in the corridors of time yesterday trying different combinations, watching streams, and participating on discord. But other than that the current state of the game really needs to do something about eververse, powerful drops, stats on armor 2.0, MW upgrade mats, universal ornaments, and elemental affinity - the thing is, they can easily fix all of that in a way that would make all content relevant again and make the game feel rewarding, but they haven’t and it really feels like they haven’t specifically to increase how much of a grind there is ☹️

  • I could only wish that Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris were on automatic rotation. Still trying to get that Ash Factory with tripod and proximity deto.

Release day vet here! Loved Destiny 1, it was a crazy time in my life. I was a Junior/Senior in High school so i had a ton of time and logged about 3500 hours into that game. Come Destiny 2 I'm at college now so I have a lot less time. Just started getting back into the game about 6 months ago, I played a lot at the start and then stopped because I was planning to build a PC. If you don't like the game very much I would highly recommend at least trying it on PC. The frames, the movement, even the playerbase just improves so much. I love where the game is at right now. I'm never board (although sometimes I feel overwhelmed) and I really enjoy playing. Where we are at right now almost reminds me of the April update right after Rise of Iron. But that's just me, I know the game has a bunch of flaws but i don't mind them too much, excited to see where this story goes! Cheers

  • If you're on ps4 join the Destiny's Destiny community. It's great for finding raid teams. Unlike this piece of shit app.

    • My d2 guardians are carryovers from Destiny day 1, no restarts. I play a lot less d2, especially d2 PVP which is such garbage I have not even bothered to max a d2 iron banner or do any quest that requires d2 PvP. Have not done any d2 raids and used to sherpa destiny raids right until d2 came out... Ymmv

    • Played D1. Loved it. The areas felt more open and felt like there was a lot more to explore. I enjoyed the story content more as well. D2 is pretty to look at and runs like a dream on PC but I'm tired of spinning my wheels and not doing anything that feels like it's contributing to an overall purpose. I've started playing halo reach on pc. My first time thru and thoroughly enjoying it. We need that version of bungie back to help out with destiny.

    • I'm a vet, i like the current d2 a lot more then the launch d2. I'm on console gamer only, so i have a positive time in pvp. The game could be better, you can say that about most games. It's a lot better the it's competition. Eververse is fine in my book, it's cosmetics... i overall like it.

    • D1 raids and strikes were good but the pvp in year 3 was garbage. D2 pvp is ok minus the hunter shotgun spam but pve is boring and armor is wack.

      • D1 day 1 for me. I've played a lot more D1 then D2 but I don't play as much as I used to. Overall I like D2 better.

      • D1 vet here! Destiny 2 is far better in my opinion despite some quite recognisable and significant flaws, but D1 also did so eh. The strikes in D1 had a lot more replayability, strike specific loot and all. Also the very interesting locations they’d go to. Obviously the Undying Mind strike was by far the best, disappointed they didn’t reprise at the end of Undying. DLC’s beat seasons for sure, the whole no permanent playable content sucks. There’s a lot less dialogue too in D2, makes the characters seem dull. I want Zavala saying stuff like “Wether we wanted or not” again. Strikes definitely need more replayability, it’s the content we rely on once we’ve finished (or at least got bored of) everything else. Crucible’s a mess, as usual :)

        • I’m a D1 vet and I’m frustrated with this game. I mainly play PvP even though I’m not very good I like competition. PVP is really lacking in this game. Iron Banner is a shell of its former self, I miss Rift, I miss all the great maps from D1. And Bungie is selling shit I’ve bought already with some tweaks.
