Winter's Guile should work with Ball Lightning, Celestial Fire.

When I heard of the changes to top tree Dawnblade, I honestly got a little excited and started theory crafting some fun little builds. Nothing that would be considered OP or anything, but just some fun times. My idea what Top Tree Dawn, Winter's Guile, and Monte Carlo. The setup would have been eat grenade for Heat Rises, kill an ad with a winter's guile'd top tree melee, fire x5 Markov'd shots at another enemy to recharge melee, then throw a winter's guile'd x2 melee, repeat. Would have been fun to see how effective it would have been for ad clear and maybe some captains and stuff. But Winter's Guile doesn't work with ranged melee. The exotic has kinda just sat there in everyone's vault (or collections for those that really don't care about it) ever since it came out. It never added anything to the game as you need kills to boost it. There are so many drawbacks to the exotic arms that it has actually NEVER been worth using for anything, even fun little builds. So all I ask is for Winter's Guile to be allowed to work with the ranged melee attacks that warlocks have. That change won't even phase PVP, and it can only serve to make PVE more fun.

  • Bungie needs to do some work on the top tree dawn blade melee it doesn’t count towards bounties requiring melee kills from saint 14 or any other for that matter!!!! It only counts if your up close and get the hand to the face animation so I guess it’s bungie way of face palming all warlocks once again

        If Exotics can work with Throwing Knives, don’t see why Winters Guile shouldn’t work with those melees.

        • Some bounties dont cant those melee kills as kills either. Saints melee bounty and if you get a time lost frame that need melee ability kills it won't count ranged melee attacks either.

            • It's quite honestly stupid that they don't work with winters guile. Throwing hammer works with worm god so I don't see why winters guile doesn't work.

            • Bump - they need to rework 90% of the warlock exotics. Eye of another world Sanguine robes And many many others. So many useless ones for the warlock class. Then address the Titan <

                There's seriously something wrong with ranged melee abilities not tracking for anything the requires a "melee" kill. Some work and some don't, but it would open so many synergies if all counted. Even ones the do work like sun sunbracers occasionally don't work for some reason.

                • I thought it was going to work too, what a shame that it doesn’t. Warlock exotics are just garbage, the game needs a huge exotic weapon and armors buff, maybe even overhaul a couple of them to make them viable.

                • Wouldn't really matter anyways, that exotic is absolute garbage tier. The timer doesn't last long enough for you to get a consistent stream of melee kills going, and unless you're using Devour you'll get destroyed using that playstyle in any activity that's remotely challenging. I've always thought it would be cool if they combined it with Karnstein Armlets. Increased melee damage + continuous health regeneration, both for 8 secs.

                • I'd use karstein armlets over winters guile especially if you want to incorporate monte carlo into it sunbracers dont need monte carlo. karstein and sunbracers both work with ranged melees

                • It must just be winters guile, because sunbracers + Monte Carlo and top tree is wild.

                • Unfortunately, it doesn’t count as a melee for some reason. Could be a glitch, could be intentional, but it would be great to see it count towards Winter’s Guile.

                • The problem is those two melee abilities, for some ungodly reason, don’t count as melee abilities to the system. If you ever try to complete a bounty for melee kills then you’ll notice neither will progress it. Correct the coding and everything will fall into place nicely.

                • How bout winters guile just gets a buff so it’s 10 seconds instead of 5, and 3 stacks instead 5, were not titans or hunters who can pair it with one two punch shotguns and subclass nodes that deal extra damage.

                • Why would you want to use Winter's Guile when you can just use Sunbracers lol. Literally just stay up in the air while your solar nades from sunbracers cook everything and you'll get your celestial fire back so you can do it again.

                  • While I like that idea, there's one thing I'd like them to change first with Winters Guile... The perk time is way too fast. They need to tack on a couple more seconds.

                        • And before anyone starts being toxic, please just don't. I don't have time to read shit like "hur dur its bungo what you expect." Keep it friendly, respect each other. And give ideas on what changes you'd like, or any other exotics you'd want fixed up, and stuff!
