what was wrong with how it was before?
Edit: Ok so im kinda surprised how some people forgot or i dunno what it is but the problem is not RNG
Last season the bounties gave the armor piece related to the bounty and tokens still gave armor
I turned in over 150+ tokens and only got specific armor i unlocked from the quest so yeah why did it change if you wanted one armor piece you could do the one bounty it required and do other things now you gotta grind for armor
If you don’t do quest you don’t get armor it seems like so why the change?
another edit
You know it doesn’t make a single difference if they didn’t want us to spend 1000 tokens because you can still use them to buy weapons which is the most beneficial thing especially since raven grenade launcher is supposedly better then the pinnacle launchers so again why is armor locked by quest

Because Bungle, for some reason, can’t just take the easy win and put good weapons and armor in IB and give us plenty of opportunities (postgame drops) to get our preferred rolls.

2 RepliesWith tokens and rng you end up playing for a good amount of time to get all parts, longer if rng is not with you. With the items as a quest reward the amount of time needed to get them would be to short so they had to add steps that would drag out play time to the max. With tokens your just grinding over and over to get that chance of a drop you want, the quest has to be done this way to ensure playtime is just as long.

41 RepliesPeople all complain when it’s locked behind tokens and RNG. So bungie makes it 100% guaranteed you’ll get each piece if you do the quest steps... people complain. 😂 This forum never ceases to amaze. They could do everything perfect and people would still find something to complain about

4 RepliesYa’ll really grinding for reskinned armor

1 ReplyEdited by Endless: 6/20/2019 6:17:34 PMBetter question - why is anyone with a brain trying to even get this armour. Its armour from year 1. You should already have a plethora of enhanced armour if you have put any time into this game. You should already have this armour, and enhanced armour. There is absolutely no reason to grind for this armour. There is absolutely no reason to complain about it in the forums. Problem solved.

Sadly, it's not even new armor design. An annoying grind to get gear that looks exactly the same as the armor that you earned by playing iron banner in year 1 of D2. And yes, it has random rolls, but that won't even matter come september when transmog will be introduced and year 3 armor will probably be far superior to year 2 in terms of perks/utility.

Because that’s all this game has become..... bounties and quests over and over, doing the same mind numbing trash time and time again.... Should just call it Destiny the Bounty Hunter.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Freak: 6/20/2019 12:13:12 PMThat’s exactly why..... Bungie didn’t want players with thousands of tokens saved up just going to Lord SaladBar to immediately get enhanced gear without stepping foot in IB. This way everyone starts off fresh and it increases the players pool simultaneously. You have to complete the quest for each armor piece to unlock it in the loot pool. It’s pretty self explanatory.

14 RepliesWhy is more than half this game bounties and quest instead of just making a game to be fun? Think about this for a moment, every vendor just on the tower has bounties or bounties/quest and a hell of a lot of them are the same thing every week. Then there is Spider and Petra that adds on to that. When playing D1 it had its bounties/quest but D2 has been way overdone with this that it's taken part of the fun factor out of the game. This is just my opinion. D2 is a great looking game, has more than enough events vs D1, more planets/moons a couple of extra vendors, things that were added to D2 but very limited Vs D1. I don't understand why Bungie made this game more about bounties and added a lot more quest for (small petty things) like IB that was unnecessary. Or, other things that are more about just grinding instead of actually making the game more like D1 to where you played the game and not worried about if you're going to have to get 1500 headshots, 500 grenade kills just to get to the next part of the quest that will tell you to get 1000 melee final blow with other ridiculous things like the Gambit quest that was way overdone. I like certain thing about D2, but Bungie has taken the bounties and quest in this game way to far in every aspect of it.

1 ReplyI keep asking myself the samething. I grind Crucible for tokens which I turn in for weapons and armor. Now there is a quest to unlock the armor but weapons drop when I turn in tokens minus the armor. Lets not forget, IRON BANNER IS A 1 WEEK EVENT. So Bungie's bright idea is to lock armor behind a quest that may taken the average player that whole week to complete. Am I missong something here too? Freaking ingenious. Plus add in the point of the grind is to get the rolls you want on the armor, which is almost impossible to do now, thanks Bungie.

Jet Set WillyIt’s all going concording to plan 😂🤣 - old
It changed because too many of us have hundreds of IB tokens and could have obtained the sets (for the 2nd time) through redeeming tokens for IB engrams. That’s too easy so Bungie had to create a mundane quest for each individual character. Wouldn’t be as bad if it was account wide. -
1 ReplyThis quest is equivalent to an exotic quest and thats just fot armor... Its abit rediculos The Super/ability part is rediculos as well
-
2 RepliesIn d1, the first couple sets of iron banner armor spent all week to obtain 2 pieces of the armor, the next time it rolled around you were able to get 2 more, and again a month later 2 more. It was some if the rarest armor to receive and because of that it felt the most rewarding once obtained. So go ahead and downvote me. Or try to argue that it wasn't hard to get back then, but make sure when you do you also link where to find multiple people posting their guardians dressed in that d1, pre-dark below iron banner gear. If your argument is that the armor should simply be acquired easily by everybody, well that's not very "forged in the fires of battle" of you.

Because people stop playing once they get the season's armour in the first week because that's all the mode is good for. Instead of doing something inventive or fun, or brand new gear or a new exotic, they went with pulling loot from the pool and locking it behind a checklist so as to force people to waste more time in the mode. I actually preferred how it used to work, because I used toxdo what it took to get what I wanted and I'd move on. If I was lucky, I'd get what I wanted that first and I wouldn't have to worry about it later. I don't like having to wonder if I have the time for some series of stupid, lazy timegated filler all because they can't come up with a better way to get more players involved longer.
-
what was wrong with how it was before?
I’m convinced Bungie is just testing you guys to see how much bullshit you’ll go through for the same armor you’ve already had.
-
2 RepliesWhy a lot of people complain about IB quest wich, I agree, is just another annoin grindwall for stupid monkeys. But it seems Im the only one dissapointed with same old armor design. Its so bad and poor on detail... It seems making armor models is too hard. I wonder how skyrim modmakers do their incredible armor sets...

1 ReplyLol waaaah. Always waaaah.
no matter what. Waaah
"its a pvp quest.. let them have it.. they deserve it" - Mythrax.. no seriously as long as bungie keeps that pvp crap out of my ordinary quest lines they can have special PvP quests all day long..
-
Edited by Corrick II: 6/20/2019 4:20:43 AMIt’s a way to make players play longer. They have to stretch the content and activities even more now that they’re operating on a shoestring budget. Destiny should be a drop in drop out game but Bungie is making it so you’re forced into hours long sessions just to get gear we’ve already earned in the past. It makes me sad.
-
To Inflate playtime.
-
Why is this game locked behind playing it?
-
1 ReplyI think it's an interesting idea. The way we were obtaining it before got a bit stale.
-
I personally don't care for it it's just year 1 IB armor anyways I'm just glad the weapons weren't locked.
-
It's so you can better grind for god roll weapons. By doing the quest you unlock more armor that will add to the loot pool giving you less chances of weapon drops.
-
If the steps where not so trollish, time consuming, then I wouldn't mind. However they are and I seriously hate those involved in their making. I wish the worst for them.
