Shotguns dominate competitive and it's getting a little out of hand, seems like there's no skill anymore, just run and shoot or wait for them to turn the corner. I remember in destiny one that you had to outplay the enemy to shotgun them down, now you just need to be a blindly run around until you see anything remotely humanoid living. They need to be nerfed, hard.
-
Even destiny 1 was a shitshow when it came to shotguns. There was never skill involved.
-
11 RepliesShot guns take skill my dude, I understand they are cheap but they do take skill in higher tier players hands
-
No they don't, you need to get good. Use a Fusion Rifle, a Trace Rifle, a Sidearm, hell even a Sniper Rifle. It's point and click with those weapons, shotguns never stand a chance. Stop complaining and learn to counter.
-
8 RepliesYou people are the reason they moved Shotguns to Heavy in D2 year one. Bungie got tired of your nerfing antics.
-
Didn't Felwinter's with the best possible roll have something like a 12 meter OHK range? I feel like House of Wolves had better shotguns than what we have, and people would still get their salads tossed by anybody worth a damn with Last Word or a fusion. It isn't different here, you still get your salad tossed by mostly fusions and the occasional Cerberus or sidearm if you think a mindless charge will work in any capacity. You have summoned me.

Edited by Lokey0024: 12/17/2018 11:18:04 AMHeard some good ideas to add consistency by having a set pattern and controlling the range/dmg per pellet to keep it at a max of 6-7m OHK. As is currently the range cuts into sidearm effective range to much making them near obsolete. Fusion rifles are fine as is IMO, haven't played much with rapid frame I admit, but have sniped people with Erintil and Main Ingredient. Just like shottys, it all boils down to how good of a perk roll you have.

4 RepliesAs a former sniper main that finally conformed to the shotgun meta, get better, shotguns require good positioning and movement as weird as it sounds. Trust me, I tried making a sniper work for all of year 1 and all of D1; sometimes you just adapt and learn the new stuff. Shotgunning is by no means harder than sniping, but you can’t just run at someone like everyone says you can
-
I intentionally unequipped my special weapon, so whenever some shotgun user manages to kill me, they won't get any ammo back. It's always fun to watch their reactions when they shoot their whole mag at me direction and then flop over dead after their next slide didn't load any in.
-
Just gonna say real quick, I told you so. Everyone wanted shotguns back and I did too, but the way it's been brought back is broken and has divided the entire community. Some think they're broken, others think that given the ammo economy, it's balanced.

Edited by ghostx78x: 12/16/2018 2:31:42 PMPeople that know video games know that having a pvp game with radar plus OP shotties is a no-no. Bungie didn’t get the memo.

1 ReplyBring back OHK grenades.

i have a quest that in order to complete it you need to use....a shotgun

Edited by Hexi: 12/16/2018 3:20:26 PMIf you're not one-hitting someone, you're a noob, even if that means finishing off an opponent. Basically, if you lose more than 1 ammo when scoring a kill, you're doing it wrong. That's why Crucible is -blam!-ing garbage. And yes, I can do it too, it's just boring and you learn nothing.

I remember in destiny one that you had to outplay the enemy to shotgun them down
BWAHAHAHA! That's a good one... that's funny. You don't remember the Shotgun Jug meta? Or Felwinter Sniper? Matador 64 and Party Crasher +1? D1 was nothing but Shotgun rushing- until Taken King came around, they made it so if you died you spawned with NO special ammo. You had to go find a box and get half a mag of shotgun rounds- and hope you don't die before getting a kill. All of Vanilla, and the two DLC's... so a year... it was nothing but "Hey surprise, shotgun from across the FREAKING MAP!" Then when they nerfed Special ammo, people moved on to Universal Remote- a Primary Shotgun that used Primary ammo... and Sidearms- which were over powered cause they always had ammo and killed SUPER QUICKLY. Then those got nerfed... Now shotguns are back. And people hate it again, cause it was the same playstyle all over again. The only difference now, is that to 'Jug Shotgun' as a Titan, you need the exotic Mk. 44 Stand Asides which gives you an overshield while sprinting with a shoulder charge ability... and that there is only ONE class who's Blink Shotgunning you in the face instead of two. Oh, and shotguns aren't sniper rifles anymore. In D1 the shotguns killed from WAY further out than D2 shotties. Otherwise, it's Y1 of D1 all over again until they nerf Special ammo by putting boxes back in. And given how Bungie thinks they balanced Heavy Ammo... if they do put Special boxes in PvP- they'll make it so only one person can pull it at a time. But it could be worse, you could have the Graviton meta again... everyone hiding in the back firing down a single lane with Graviton... and then that rules the crucible again. Oh wait that was the same as Clever Dragon's meta... TL;DR people will always complain about something. Even if that something is nerfed, or brought into line and balanced... they'll still complain about it. Either get used to it like most folk... or just don't play anymore. That's about how it goes now. If you don't like the change Bungie makes to it's sandbox- even after a nerf to what's op... then you'll never have fun. Cause... even if they nerf Shotguns, Telesto, Luna's Howl... there will be something else that takes it's place as "OP! PLZ NERF!" on the topics of the forums... at some point, we'll all just load into PvP with nothing but Melee only cause everything will just shoot paper bullets and hit like wet farts. "Rockets OP! PLZ NERF!" "Bungie: Okay, rockets now heal instead of kill. Happy?" "LuNa'S hOwl Op PlZ nErF!" "Bungie: Okay, it now does 1 damage per shot, and the perk makes it do 2 damage. Happy?" "SHOTGUNS OP-" "Bungie: FINE! MELEE ONLY! CRUCIBLE IS NOW MELEE ONLY!" "SHOULDER CHARGE O-" On a last note to end this: I can't wait to see how angry people are when The Last Word goes live into the Crucible... anyone remember that meta? Lets see how long that lasts before people want it nerfed... I give it two days before the forums scream about it. Maybe a day at most.

Edited by SmashvilleViking: 12/16/2018 8:53:43 AM"I remember in destiny one that you had to outplay the enemy to shotgun them down" This is a joke right? You must not have been around for Felwinter's, Jug/Shotgun titans, or the Universal Remote meta... Then, Matador became the go-to because it could map. How much D1 did you play exactly? Oh, 328h. That explains it. You came in after shotguns were changed.

i read the first part and ur wrong i main snipes and they -blam!- shit up so just get better i guess or dont play comp and let 90% of the player base down just by being there

3 RepliesThe streamers asked for this, this is their vision of a skill gap. The pvp streamers in this game are shit, our pve guys are amazing.

Shotguns don’t need to be nerfed primaries and snipers need to be stronger

1 ReplyI use Sturm an Drang, gotta love that two-tapping double trouble
-
1 ReplyPeople wanted specials back so here you go. Don't forget lots of people also complained about Mida and Uriel etc etc. I didn't play D1 so don't know the history but what I've gathered from the D2 community is that people like to complain about PvP.

Use telestro

In Destiny 1, players graduated to snipers. The way the special ammo situation is now doesn't benefit a long ranged weapon. Close engagements win you special. Using a sniper just gives someone else on your team the special ammo. In D1 I would practice sniping during mayhem because opponents were too distracted by the chaos to look for a sniper. I can't really practice because once my two shots are gone...It's tough shit until I stumble upon some more special. Which is my next blade barrage death.

2 Replieshere's a little secret, get an erentil fr4 and roll it with backup plan. then, shred shotgun users. it's really that easy, just don't get baited.
