Think about it:
-Masterwork Cores for every infusion, catered to those who stockpile
-Last Wish raid completion less than 1% during the first few days, almost all that did are streamers
-second and third Seeds of Light (character progression) currently only available from endgame team activities
Being even semi-casual no longer exists as an option. Bungie wants you to invest a part of your life into Destiny if you really want to have fun, which is ridiculous if you ask me.
And here's the thing, Bungie does listen. Just not to you or anybody else who isn't a popular streamer.
What ever happened to the casual/hardcore balance that was there at the end cycle of D1? And why the hell did it go away? -_-

I'm super casual and I don't think it's that bad.
Masterwork Cores for every infusion, catered to those who stockpile
I buy 3-5 everytime I log on and I'm much more careful with my infusion choices.
Last Wish raid completion less than 1% during the first few days, almost all that did are streamers
That's probably very accurate, but doesn't effect me at all.
second and third Seeds of Light (character progression) currently only available from endgame team activities
I just opened up the Dreaming city and got one on my first Blind Well experience.
Being even semi-casual no longer exists as an option.
Weird.....it does for me, but I'm don't obsess over power level. Sure, I miss powerful/prime engrams every week, but, meh, I'm cool with that because I'm a filthy casual. Right now I'm casually trying to get my 25 HC kills for the AoS.....I have 7.....but, meh, I'm cool with that because I'm a filthy casual. Have a great day! Yay! F*ck, this coffee is strong.....

no one is preventing you from remaining a casual player. the thing is you cannot be a overly casual player and expect maxed level results through your time investment quickly. the pace you play is up to you not Bungie, just play.

1 ReplyPretty much nobody who comes to these forums is a fan of the word 'casual'. Especially after the way D2 launched. You can play as casually as you want. Casuals don't do raids. Casuals don't play Iron Banner. Casuals log in once a week and have a cursory look around, do a challenge or two, then logoff. This game's bread and butter audience does not believe that every experience in the game should be handed out like candy to those who put in a fraction of the time they do. I think that's reasonable... I just hit 542 with one character, so I'm not one of those 24/7 players. But I appreciate holding off on the raid and the Dreaming City until I'm powerful enough to handle it. It forced me to take the content in more slowly, and most of us were looking for a reason to do that - since D2 launched...

Its only been 3 weeks. Although I will say one small issue I have is with the Super ability upgrade process with the Seeds of Light. Thats a little silly to me but hey Ill get it done. I thought the progression process of Supers in D1 was pretty good. Took a while but didnt make anything mandatory to complete in order to obtain and use those badass ability's. As far as MW cores Ive just learned to live with it. They will probably make some kind of change soon enough but Im enjoying the new weapons and slowly making me way up. Ive only infused 1 weapon. And it was for mt SoP RL cause I couldnt get a dam RL drop for anything lol. You have 3 characters already at above 500 so Im not sure how "casual" you really are but that in itself takes some time to get so may be why its taking you longer to progress as well but at least you got 3 characters already there. Hell I thought I was considered casual. Kill many and Die often!
-
No, its not... THINK ABOUT IT: Destiny 2 flopped at launch because Bungie made the game casual. After Curse of Osiris became the lowest point in Destiny history, they said this: "We are now focusing on making the game for the hobbyist", meaning the hardcore audience that plays the game regularly as a hobby...so where is the confusion exactly? Should have been pretty clear I would think
-
No. You can thank the living with their parents, no-lifers for the current state of D2. They whined for it and got it.
-
Quiet down, drama queen. Nobody said you couldn’t play at your own pace.

I am a casual 3 hours a night after work destiny player and I have reached 550 light on one character and had my second seed on the first or second day of forsaken. Yes some of these things are annoying and serve no purpose but if you ration your materials you will always have enough to do what you NEED but not enough to do what you WANT. Functionally the new systems mentioned above are "fine"
-
To me you can be casual and maintain one character but if you want to do things thoroughly in this game then even two is a stretch. As you said though, resources will be an issue.

I agree that is an issue, why do you need to use masterwork cores on a weapon that isn't masterworked 2. Bruh do you really expect 50% of the community to finish the raid that starts at 550 light in a few days after launch? The raid should be difficult 3. honestly you get access to the dreaming city really quickly, if you can't get to the blind well, that's on you. I couldn't care about the 3rd seed of light because I really only cared about 2 supers from each class Just because something is difficult or time consuming doesn't mean that it requires an entire day to do
-
- MW cores economy is being changed, no more complaining allowed as the problem is being addressed -there is only like 30-40% of the community that does raids anyways so not doing the raid isnt a surprise and very casual-like -blind well is a team acitivty, yes, but if instead of sparrowing as fast as possible into the blind well, you could walk the whole way there, and you almost always be matchmade into a group doing blind well. Calling it a team activity is a bit of an overstatement as yes you need others to help you beat the bosses, but you dont have to be in a group with them so also casual friendly.

Casuals still very much exist in Forsaken. The only things I agree with are the infusion costs being rough on casuals and the third seed of light being locked behind the first raid encounter, and they already said the third seed will be added to a different activity. Masterwork cores should remain hard to obtain for the sake of masterworking an item, but they could remove it from infusion and replace it with more planetary resources or something. Casual players play casually. They log on to earn a few power engrams, maybe play a match or two of crucible, then log off to do something else. Casuals don't need to beat the raid day one, and doing the Blind Well for the second seed is not even hard. I got my second seed when I was only 510. Players who put in the time should have it reflected in their armor and gear. Just because casual joe wants to get the raid pulse rifle doesn't mean it should be handed to them. (which it already can be, if you use the wall of wishes to get a raid chest every week). Also, I'm not a streamer and my titan is 555.

Some days I play alot and some not so much. The infusion economy is a bit strained. But what's the big rush? It's been 3 weeks and I'm at 536, I dont feel like I'm behind the power curve, except for the Raid

Mad cos bad

6 RepliesI suppose getting all raid gear and trials without even playing was not enough for you. There is nothing wrong with taking your time but comments like yours are the ones that destroyed Destiny 2 . Facts: Raids are supposed to be hard and yes there is no matchmaking because if you can’t find after all this time a decent team of 6 people then what can I say…. Light maters when there is Iron Banana and trials its end game loot and you need to be close to light cap sry It did not go away it ridiculously destroyed the game .

every casual can become a pro if he/she wants...

So go play Spider-Man or God of War.

1 ReplyHonestly right now Destiny is the best it's been since The Taken King, the game can always use improvements here and there but overall it's in a good place. The last thing Destiny needs is another failed attempt at catering to everyone so that we end up with D2 year one again.
-
Good riddance. These changes are long overdue.

I agree with that MC are scarce, but I like how the game makes you decide early on what's important for we all know in the latter stages your favorites will be brought forward. I like that it makes you try the new weapons. Some of them are beastly, like Misfit. I've never used sidearms as much as I have this time around. Anonymous Autumn is so fine, mines got outlaw an rampage. As far as the armor goes, everyone at this point is an ugly duckling. I only just started this week dabbing with the shader's. Basically I keep several different sets on me that have "THE" perks you look for. When I get a duplicate, I can upgrade for just glimmer - no MC required. There are those few weapons that make life easier an I have infused them along the way but I set rules for myself. Am I raising a great gun more than 20 -30 light then it might be worth it. If you get an exotic to drop, most I've gotten I already have an those can infuse for glimmer an materials - no MC's. So if your a casual, explore different aspect's of the game. You can always buy a few from Spider. Any Tier 4 or above weapon that drops when dismantled gives you MC's as well as the consumable Finest Matterweave. This is by far the best the game has been in awhile. Hope this helps you, Cheers Wook.

You have lfg(which should be in the game) for those activities and you don't have to do the raid day one. The only thing i agree about here is the masterwork infusion because it should be used for masterworking and not for infusing
-
17 RepliesThis is why bungie doesn’t listen to people like you on the forums. You points here are weak as piss and make no point. Blind well is easy to get 2nd seed from. Master work core? Quit wanting to infuse every single piece of gear you have. Work for what you want, don’t work for every single thing in the game
