Think about it:
-Masterwork Cores for every infusion, catered to those who stockpile
-Last Wish raid completion less than 1% during the first few days, almost all that did are streamers
-second and third Seeds of Light (character progression) currently only available from endgame team activities
Being even semi-casual no longer exists as an option. Bungie wants you to invest a part of your life into Destiny if you really want to have fun, which is ridiculous if you ask me.
And here's the thing, Bungie does listen. Just not to you or anybody else who isn't a popular streamer.
What ever happened to the casual/hardcore balance that was there at the end cycle of D1? And why the hell did it go away? -_-

Casuals can definitely enjoy Destiny, they just can't expect everything to be catered to them. Forsaken hasn't made it impossible for you to play, it's just balanced the scales a bit more evenly. If you feel like it's too far in the other direction, just look at how many things are available to do in a short amount of time. Other than the raid and nightfall, everything in the game can be completed in less than 20 minutes without much difficulty. Materials like masterwork cores are sometimes rare, but the Spider sells them for legendary shards and resets the price every day. You can also buy lots of other materials from him depending on what you need. Plus, Bungie has already said they're going to reduce the amount of masterwork cores that are required for infusion. I think things are pretty fair at the moment. Both casual and hardcore audiences are able to play Forsaken and enjoy it in their own way.

6 RepliesI play a lot of D2, but I am having trouble keeping up. I use to play on two consoles, but now I only have time for one character on one console. I feel like there is a player base that plays a lot of D2, but, for whatever reason, can't complete the endgame activities. Does that make you a casual? Maybe. The problem with Destiny and Destiny 2 is, how do you make a challenging game, but not lock players out of content they have paid for? I like that D2 has a tough grind, but sometimes I feel like being able to get on for an hour, find a fireteam to complete a challenging activity, sometimes isn't possible. I've been trying to put together a dedicated raid team for our clan, since the end of Destiny. I don't know what the answer is, but it would be nice to have a happy medium.

1 ReplyYup. Bought foresaken the day after it dropped, and haven't had a chance to play it yet due to life. I try to watch the streams at work when I can. I do think it's better than it was. I don't think I should have things handed to me when I do play, but at this point it definitely feels like I've fallen so far behind I won't be able to catch up. I feel like ttk and roi had a pretty nice balance of progression for tryhards and casual players alike.

11 RepliesI am considered a casual. I play on the weekends or for two or three hours after 8 or 9 pm. I am able to complete dailies/weekly for powerful gear. What is the rush? Do you want to be mad in a month and say there is no content......
-
13 RepliesDoing a tier 2 blind well for the second seed is not hard at all and it’s certainly not “endgame team activity” nor is it necessary to unlock all 3 subclasses on all 3 characters within the first 2 weeks so stop whining.
-
The only point I agree on is Infusion Problems which affects both Casual Players and Hardcore Players alike
-
That's not how I see it. If you are a casual player, you have a TON of stuff to do each week. Also: Most casual players don't beat the raid. Most casual players can still do T2 blind well if they can get into an instance with others. I do this daily. And not stockpiling resources prior to a content release is the fault of those who didn't do it. To complain that you didn't, or that someone has more of a resource than you, is akin (to me) to complaining that Gerald has more money than you, when he works 50 hours a week and you work 10.

2 RepliesIts pretty sad. The game dropped for a very small group of ultra casuals. Forsaken dropped to cater/reward a bunch of streamers, who had mostly left the game. Why cant bungie focus on the very big group in the middle. Fun game, decent grind. Solo queues for pvp. Allow more than 4 teams to have the LL to complete the new raid on day 1. Raid day 1 was not a community event. It was a, hey, lets celebrate the few who had the time to play 12-24 hours a day for 10 days.

Casuals here is the door we don’t want you lol

bungie went from hating on the hobyists to a borderline no life economy real quick.

Edited by draycole: 9/25/2018 6:31:15 PMIt's the best way to draw out what little content there actually is
-
I like it more then D2 year 1... after all, you really shouldn't be infusing much at this point... maybe a handful of weapons for Boss damage. I don't mind getting things done weeks or months after others, after all that means I get to play longer. My beef is the way everything is now PVP focused, clan Bounties, majority of Weekly Milestones.
-
It is, you just have to spend more time overall. Two people will have roughly the same power level in a 100 hours, but a casual will finish their hundred hours in a month while a hardcore will finish their’s in a week.

"Filthy Casual - Bubble Bro" here and i am staying A "Filthy Casual". All the way till the end of Destiny.

Who makes a streamer “popular”? US!!! If nobody watches their shit contents, they’re nobody!!! Sign here bro/sis DO NOT WATCH ANY STUPID YOUTUBE VIDEOS
-
I would probably be considered a tryhard, and I haven’t even attempted the raid. Give it some time, you’ll get there eventually :)
-
Because the streamers are like the advertisements.
-
11 RepliesCry less, play more. It is what it is. Accept it or move on. D2 has never been better than it is right now. The amount of players playing validate this. Casuals come and go. Hence the term casuals. Hard core leads the way and provide longevity. Now that the grind is real you either embrace it to progress or find yourself missing out on higher lvl activities. You decide.
-
ITT people act like streamers are the only people that got what they wanted while they have millions of followers who agree with them. Plus Bungie just made the Ace of Spades easier to get a couple days ago. So clearly they are still listening to some of you people that lack the time or thumbs to do things but still invest their souls into this game.
-
13 RepliesI didn't know that ppl who play casually should progress just as fast as ppl who play more often... Sure, you can still do the same things, just at your own pace... You can level the same way as they do by getting powerful engrams, in activities that are perfectly soloable... But you have to wait longer?!?!? The travesty...

1 ReplyEdited by D2_Dahaka_PAL: 9/25/2018 4:42:11 PMI think Bungie have taken some things too far. It leans too far in favour of people “no-lifing” D2. I am in favour of the direction they’re taking the game, but it needs some adjusting that sadly I don’t think will happen. This is my opinion only.
-
1 ReplyToo bad. Get lost casual

Edited by Eqitx: 9/25/2018 5:52:25 PMWhy? Is being a 530 noone not invited on any group killing some random crap for 30 minutes like an idiot until bored not progressing and 0 new exotics a not viable option for casuals? 😂
-
Good Destiny needed a harder grind I was tired of a game where everyone had everything Items as no meaning except for their stats or viability Nothing was special
-
Absolutely not. Play every day or don’t al all. - Bungie

Casual has and will always be an option. Just no longer THE option. If you only have a few hours to play, don't expect anything other than a few hours worth of toys. People that play all the time will always have more and do more with the content because they invest into it. You're investing a nickel and wanting a Benjamin in return. Not gonna happen, sport
