Recommended power is there for a reason! We wanted power level to mean something! We wanted Heroic Strikes to be hard! And currently, they somewhat are! So, save your damn feedback 'till after we reach 370! We can't keep saying things are too hard when WE JUST STARTED and then proceed to ask for those same things to be harder when we hit the cap! These two things cancel each other out, and asking for both is downright hypocritical.
Latest Edit: Below, you can find my 'evaluation' of a majority of the feedback I received on this post. (It was originally placed in a comment but due to a friendly recommendation, I am placing this comment in the spoiler box below as to not allow it to get lost in the comments.)

So, let me get this straight.
Through about 400 comments - most of which I went through; more so than not, we agree upon the problem lying on the incentive to do 'Heroic Strikes'. Where most place their points upon progression, where difficulty does not bring reward equal to it. More specifically, most expect a 350 activity to gradually raise their power level to that of it, if not beyond (majority of suggestions went toward it being at 360).
Thus, this points directly to that of a Rise of Iron progression system, where people want to run strikes 'till they reach a certain cap, and from there they top their progression off with higher level activities, those being raids and nightfalls and in D2's case, maybe Escalation Protocol.
Beyond that, it seems that many also want Heroic Strikes to still be relevant past the cap, which can be done through other forms of reward (grindable weapons and gear specific to Heroic Strikes).
In conclusion, we say let's keep Heroic Strikes where they are in terms of difficulty, but we want better incentive to do them outside of "Milestones". Do you agree by this sentiment? If many do, you may find a post concerning this in the Feedback section in a couple days.

3 RepliesBlackout is the only problem and only on strikes with alot of thrall since they swarm so hard but I still did it just complained about it cuz....-blam!-ing thralls man.
-
1 ReplyI don't think heroic strikes are too difficult, but I am bewildered by the fact that the nightfall was still 270 while heroic strikes were 3 times harder. why no 370 nightfall?
-
I played through 4 heroic strikes without any issue and I am only 344. I think a lot of the veterans left and now it's mostly new players who aren't used to a challenge.
-
With this much difficulty there should be a good chance of an unnerfed Gjallarhorn dropping at the end! Okay, then I could see it being that hard! What we're saying is if the Heroic strikes are going to be so damn hard, then make rewards worth the time and effort! And when I say a good chance, I don't mean like a 0.0000000000002675% chance here! It should be at least a 25% chance or more!
-
I think the difficulty is great!
-
Something can't be too difficult if you don't play it. Thanks forums for vindicating me not playing or coming back. Money well saved for something fun to play. Bungie you are pathetic.
-
Difficult for awhile, but as you say, after we reach higher levels, they will be much more manageable. As for not dropping 350 gear, they shouldn't as they are milestone related. Complete the strikes, THEN receive powerful gear. I agree that incentive to play the strikes outside of milestones would be nice, but isn't that what the vanguard levels are meant for now?
-
I don’t think it’s the fact that heroics are 350, I think it’s the fact that they’re 350 but don’t drop light relevant gear. Kinda defeats the purpose of running them if you’re not going to get anything worth a damn out of em.
-
Most people aren't mad about the difficulty, it's the pointlessness. Someone doesn't understand the point of the game. It's about being awesome and getting loot. When the strikes can't get you to 350? Pointless. It wouldn't have killed them to make heroic strikes give even 345 gear so we can achieve an even 350 to be on par, at least. Nope. We're -blam!-ed until powerful rewards actually start being powerful. I was at 345 and got 341 boots. That makes them 346. One whole -blam!-ing point toward 346...what the hell?
-
I think the heroics difficulty is perfect. It's a challenge that actually feels good to defeat in the end. But I think the rewards make no sense. The recommended power lvl is 350 but it only rewards gear up to the soft cap of 340? Doesn't make sense. What is the point in doing something where the rewards are worthless? It should drop stuff at 350 or even 360 in my opinion. Given their difficulty, it would make sense to get us 20 above the soft cap and 20 below the hard cap, just from an endgame tier perspective. That's my thoughts on it.

It is not difficult the AI is still dumb, they only made them shoot faster & deal more damage. It's cheap & lazy, i feel sick seeing you lots defend this BS stalling mechanic. Give your players decent content to be occupied with until september drops, but nooo these apes need to stay primitive in their thinking ... me dumb , me add numbers , me make it ''difficult'' for them , oh oh oh *gorilla mode off*
-
Yeah, just did my first Strike last night.... we got smoked i know at least 5 times.... loved it ... thats what im talking about a challenge ... who wants to play a game you just walk through ....
-
The strike is a real b*tch at the moment. It feels like a hard nf

Edited by MythicWaffles: 5/11/2018 4:36:26 PMCouldn't agree more. This is exactly what we asked for, and we got it. We asked for a grind, and we got it. Unreal to me. The whole loot not dropping at 350 i understand, prob should change that. But literally day 2 people complain about difficulty, its baffling xD
-
Edited by J117: 5/11/2018 3:32:02 PMI’ve not asked for increased difficulty and haven’t complained about it once so stop tarring everyone with the same brush. This game has many errors of Bungie’s own making and difficulty isn’t one of them. This game, it’s developers & it’s community have all gone to shit (from a day 1 player)... P.S. This apparent difficulty is just an attempt by Bungie to slow players progression down under the guise of challenge.
-
All they need to do is give better rewards to match the difficulty. I have no idea why Bungie continues to struggle with this concept.
-
I get a 352 sniper from 300 light calus raid and a 335 sniper from the 350 light strike. And clan xp milstone is 💩 too.
-
So far the only one that was overly difficult was the Pyramidion. Thay lack of cover at the end can be a bitch with Grounded active >-< but after 4 tries and 2 new teammates (lol) we got through it.
-
5 Repliesi love how some of these can be like D1 levels of hard. But in D1 people used the burn to their advantage instead of this game where it feels like people exclusively use the opposite burn damage. Like its not hard to use the burn damage type. If you are running striker and not hammer as a titan you are not doing it right, same with poledancers in solar burn, its just stupid to use those sub classes when its not Arc burn. My point is if you arent stupid its not that hard.
-
Edited by kindaSketch: 5/11/2018 4:13:42 PMI actually liked the harder difficulty. My only real issue (granted it's small) is the grounded modifier. It should do more damage when you jump or walk off a high ledge. I was getting 1 shot yesterday by basic dregs bc I stepped off of a 6 inch step lmfao. You have to be extremely careful.
-
The increased difficulty is unnecessary for the strikes, as the rewards still suck. No strike should take 35 minutes to complete, unless it’s rewarding. In this case, it is not.
-
I’ll take the difficulty but my problem is when you’re running a challenging activity it’s supposed to drop appropriate loot. You run these strikes knowing they’re hard but nothing drops above your current light. Thus making the challenge linger because there’s no way to conquer it with stronger things. They have to drop more than soft cap blues once in a while.
-
1 ReplyIts not complaining about the difficulty. Its main complaints evolve around the gap between activities, and the fact 350 strikes dont drop 350 rewards etc Its ok to take a while to level if you have to burn through plenty of new content to do it. It just seems Bungie bought in some cool stuff, realised td get nuked in no time as there wasnt much there, so basically nerfed the chances you have to level to make it last longer. Thats kind of a cheap tactic in the eyes of many, thats all. Its taken a base game and 2 dlcs to introduce something that looks challenging and potentially worthwhile, its just a shame a large % of the player base will take weeks to play it. They will log in do milestones then wait til the next week. It doesnt really add an incentive to keep playing, or to come back if you've been away imo.
-
Edited by dano the hippie: 5/11/2018 4:05:13 PMIt's all ass backwards. Strikes harder than the nightfall and raid doesn't make sense. They are also 350 but don't give 350 loot resulting in them being more punishing than rewarding. And personaly I wanted them more fun than anything. D1 strikes are still fun when you go back and play them. I want that for d2. Edit
i will say in a couple weeks that will be better. And zavala has a ship you get by grinding strikes. Which I think is awesome. Still doesnt make sense that this harder than the night fall.
I'm reserving judgement for the time being, I think I like the Heroic Strike mods but it's hard to tell while I'm under the recommended light. I do enjoy people not being able to just blitz past everything, but I suspect that will change before the end of the month. I'm really not a fan of the milestones or bust being the only avenue of light progression for casuals. As others have mentioned, I would have enjoyed a more tiered progression path. I also think the dev's need feedback right out of the gate, while the current light gap is only a temporary hiccup it's a frustrating one... and one I really don't want to go through every time content is added.
-
to be completely honest with you, this game isn't rewarding in strikes. The loot is terrible and it takes too long to be completed.
