[Update Contains Link] Guys, we asked for difficulty, and 3 days into this expansion I see complaint posts about Heroic Strikes being too difficult.

Recommended power is there for a reason! We wanted power level to mean something! We wanted Heroic Strikes to be hard! And currently, they somewhat are! So, save your damn feedback 'till after we reach 370! We can't keep saying things are too hard when WE JUST STARTED and then proceed to ask for those same things to be harder when we hit the cap! These two things cancel each other out, and asking for both is downright hypocritical. Latest Edit: Below, you can find my 'evaluation' of a majority of the feedback I received on this post. (It was originally placed in a comment but due to a friendly recommendation, I am placing this comment in the spoiler box below as to not allow it to get lost in the comments.)

So, let me get this straight. Through about 400 comments - most of which I went through; more so than not, we agree upon the problem lying on the incentive to do 'Heroic Strikes'. Where most place their points upon progression, where difficulty does not bring reward equal to it. More specifically, most expect a 350 activity to gradually raise their power level to that of it, if not beyond (majority of suggestions went toward it being at 360). Thus, this points directly to that of a Rise of Iron progression system, where people want to run strikes 'till they reach a certain cap, and from there they top their progression off with higher level activities, those being raids and nightfalls and in D2's case, maybe Escalation Protocol. Beyond that, it seems that many also want Heroic Strikes to still be relevant past the cap, which can be done through other forms of reward (grindable weapons and gear specific to Heroic Strikes). In conclusion, we say let's keep Heroic Strikes where they are in terms of difficulty, but we want better incentive to do them outside of "Milestones". Do you agree by this sentiment? If many do, you may find a post concerning this in the Feedback section in a couple days.

Link to the evaluation post: [https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/245158209]

The difficulty is unfair though. Boosting health and Damage is lazy. As opposed to advancing the enemies' A.I. My post on this issue here. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/245007095/0/0

    • Difficulty is wanted but making bullet sponges that can one or two hit KO is just stupidity. Enemies that can use Halo or Gears style tactics are what makes FPSs fun, if I want damage sponges I could play a traditional MMORPG.

With what you said in your update yes. Heroic Strikes should be one of the main things to do for gear after the story. It should completely get you into the power range of being able to do endgame ( 360 where Escalation Protocol is 370; Raid). Endgame should increase your power enough to do the highest of challenges (Prestige, final level or two of Escalation). At the same time making Strikes still relevant with unique drops or reasons to keep playing (see what they did with Patrols on Mars) is paramount. Strikes should remain *fun and rewarding* as a repeatable activity. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/245030344/0/0/1

    • Exactly what I said like these kids who are complaining are the ones bungie listened to who helped ruined this franchise.

    • Those complaint about difficulty are crazy, at 345 I ran 6 heroics for the sleeper quest (had to run an extra for a friend who had the quest.) and yeah, it’s called tactical playing, work the problem, don’t get hit, take your time, to get through them. They are only hard if you’re trying to speed run everything and make mistakes. So, either don’t make mistakes or take your time. If you’re complaining about rewards: It’s the first week of the expansion, getting to max light level on the first week is supposed to be hard if not impossible, we just got more content to play, there’s a system in place so that we don’t burn through it on the first week. If in a couple of weeks the rewards haven’t gone up for those heroics then you have a reason to complain.

      • i feel like this is an example of them wanting us to feel powerful. right now heroic strikes will kick your ass. but when you hit max light we will run through them easily and feel powerful.

      • Long story short. Don't have Bungie nerf it because the rewards might not be worth it to you. Ask them to create better rewards. I said this in another thread. Gamers had POE nerfed because they complained it was to hard in the beginning. My guess is that it was new and they didn't know how to run the encounter. So think before you make a final decision on something that is new that you are not use to.

        • My problem isn't the difficulty based off of the power level, my problem is the horrible modifiers. In D1 the modifiers forced you to change your style of play and rewarded you for adapting to the scenario. In D2 it seems like every other modifier has something to do with further diminishing your defences, often outright forcing you to camp in most scenarios. The modifiers dont feel like they change how you play; they feel like they were designed to make the game more difficult in the cheapest ways possible.

        • That's just the nature of this community. We ask for something until it's given to us, and when we get it we want it removed. XD

        • Yes we asked for more difficulty, and bungie delivered....but feeling like I'm doing a nightfall when I'm doing a heroic is just uncanny! Do not make heroic strikes a chore, make the endgame a chore like a very difficult raid and nightfall and make the rewards be something that shows that we are the best of the best and that we put our blood sweat and tears into to earn the gear we proudly wear just like AOT Raid gear (I think it was the age of triumph update that gave us the cool raid ornaments)....I'm not speaking on behalf of everyone but me personally I think that was a sweet touch and it made me feel actually accomplished being able to do raid challenges was fun and the grind was worth it, well for me it still is

Dude had thay shit happen 3-4 times back to back, makes me done playing with this community if all people do is quit like bitches when shit gets real, go be a -blam!-in guardian who bakes cakes or makes candy apples if you can't deal with the challenge. Damn!

          • It’s simple, a heroic should only drop purple gear. No one is praising the fact they removed the damn timers. Lmao

          • I think people misunderstand was makes the game difficult. People didn't want bullet sponged enemies. we wanted smarter enemies with unique mechanics that requires skill to defeat. Not just some buffed up bullet sponge because we are a lower level lol

              • Heroics are just plain horrid, I played them to fool around and have a little fun while I pass time. Now it feels like I have jellyfish armour and have to sweat during every boss battle. Not fun at all. Then again I’m level with the recommended power, I’ll save the rest of my judgement when I’m max.

              • I don't think it's the strikes exactly it's more the progression system is a -blam!-ing mess. It's artificial stop-gaps with no carrot on the stick to chase to make it worthwhile.

              • This whole progression system is a complete mess. I took a break from D2 for a few months to come back when the DLC came out. Blasted through the way to short and incomprehensible story campaign in no time and hit the 345 softcap with no way of progressing much further for this week. Ok, let's try this new EP thing they hyped so much about. *2 minutes later* Nope! This is crazy, I am way underleveled for this... Hmm, none of the other randoms seems to be bothered about this EP thing, doesn't seem very populair... I f'ing wonder why that might be. Ok, ok... Let's do some heroic strikes! *5 minutes later* Did I select the NF by accident?! Wtf is going on here? I am supposed to spend an hour on a single strike for senseless rewards?? Well then, guess I will just grind some public events for exotics! *2 hours later, goes to Cryptarch with 2 shiny exotic engrams - gets two vanilla D2 exotics* Screw this, now I remember why I stopped playing this a few months ago.

                • I think you're right, nobody would really be complaining about the difficulty (myself included) if the chest at the end sprayed purple instead of blue. Or even just a few legendries, don't have to make them high level...but, anything better than a swarm of blue crap is better than a ... well a swam of blue crap. I love the update for the Heroics, it's actually making it harder to get my power level up and that in turn makes playing the game last longer. However, the last three that I manged to get through took much longer than normal, and gave out nothing but blue gear Waayyyyyyy lower than my actual power. It just doesn't help or even reward well for something that sucks away so much time and effort now.

                • Well unlike destiny 2,destiny 1 gave people a reason to play the heroic strikes even if you don't get gear that maxed your light level. There was strike specific loot and players went through dozens of stiles to get a weapon that they already have, but with different perks.I feel random rolls and modifiers played a big part in that grind in strikes.
