The beta has plenty of threads going up at the moment. Most of them are people who accidentally took a shower in salt water instead of regular water this morning, but there is definitely plenty of feedback out there.
Regardless of the beta's issues (edit: I do think that the beta does have a few issues), are we all able to agree that the Homecoming mission is by far a step in the right direction for story missions?
There's actual cinematics, you can see NPCs fighting in-game, and you can even revive Commander Zavala if he dies.
And Ghaul seems like a pretty menacing villain already when compared to the lack of a "real" villain in Destiny 1's vanilla story. Edit: Not saying Ghaul is like an amazing villain, just saying when compared to D1 he's better.
Even if Destiny 2's story isn't anything groundbreaking, it already looks better then Destiny 1's story, in my opinion.
Edit: Not trying to say that it's the best mission in any game ever or something, just saying it's much better than Destiny 1.
Edit 2: A lot of people are getting the message that I think negativity is just salt because of my "took a shower in salt water" comment above. This isn't the case at all.
I'm all for negativity if it helps the game. The salt water comment was just a sarcastic joke about the people saying "F U Bungie, the beta is trash." That has no useful feedback whatsoever. The same goes for positive feedback. Saying "Fantastic beta Bungie, good job!" is nice and all, but it doesn't explain why the beta was good, thus it doesn't really have any feedback.
Multiple people now have misunderstood my original point, so I just wanted to clarify this. I don't think negativity is just salt, it was just a joke is all.

Ghaul just looks like a giant unggoy.

Yes, I can agree Homecoming is progress.... that's it. Visually in Vanilla, Dark Bellow and TTK which missions stand out from the others? The first one. After that the small touches of shadows and views on the space you're in and even what is going on around you disappear. I'm not putting out a joke, seriously go back and play Phobos then play 1, 5, 6 missions ahead. The nuances are gone and it's right back to generic missions, in my opinion that isn't going to change, based off of Bungies previous showings.

1 ReplyEdited by Moot: 7/24/2017 1:21:46 AMApparently there'll be over 50 cutscenes in the campaign. Can't wait.
-
Yeah I hate when people do that. Look at it from a critical standpoint not a hateful one

9 RepliesExcept our guardians are still not talking and instead nodding. The ghost falls off and they just dramatically reach for it? Wow.
-
I definitely love the pve from the little bit that was in the beta, its miles ahead of destiny 1. But our guardian still lacks personality and even words now .

Edited by THUNDERCHILD: 7/24/2017 1:15:03 AMMission was a huge improvement. Bravo.

1 ReplyIt's better than D1, but Bungie needs to keep up with the good narrative and memorable moments throughout the game. D1's first mission had a promising start, but then the story fell flat. Badly. It's fair for people to be skeptical.

2 RepliesShaxx has been buffed. Hes even more annoying

The story mission was great, I can't wait to play through the story with the changes they made to weapon and ability damage. It was pretty tedious though after I played it through the first time.
-
I agree with you sir well done.
-
I agree. The story mission had more work put into it than maybe vanilla destiny. If the whole story is like that, I might need a bigger towel

1 ReplyI understand that people can be salty about the beta, all the power to them. But most of the people complaining are not contributing to feedback, they're just saying that it sucks and then stop their commentary at that. If you don't like it that's fine, if you want it improved because you think it sucks, explain why. That's the whole point of the beta to gather feedback for proper launch material. And even then the launch is still going to have bugs. Every game does. I for one liked the Beta even though I was only able to play the Homecoming mission once per character unless I deleted my characters. I tried everything I could and I went on an exploratory mission in the strike to see what else I could find, funnily enough the blue dot that was with me and my friend in the strike joined us in exploring lol.

I am starting to like the ledge grabbing.

The game mechanics really suck especially PVE being so underwhelming because of PVP balancing but one thing is good. There is s story now.

5 RepliesI like how you can pop up from behind cover and shoot. I hate the fact the snipers are now heavy weapons. I don't need two primary weapons. I'm talking about campaign, not stupid ass crucible. Last time I checked, it says Destiny 2. But bungie decided to make it a more sequel to the crucible.

3 RepliesBeta is fine, just sluggish AF
-
My issues with the story mission: - Protagonist still doesn't speak - "how do we make the graphics better?" "Just put so many particle effects that you can't see" - the reach for your ghost when it falls off the ship looked comically over-animated. Could other things be?

11 RepliesAnyone saying that the D2 story is looking worse or as bad as D1 is just bandwagoning at this point. Or they didn't play the D1 story.
-
5 RepliesThe new weapon system is -blam!-ing gash. Nuff said

Music in d2 is lit

3 Repliesi like the inverted spire strike a lot

3 RepliesThey added RPM to weapon stats.

1 ReplyEdited by mus: 7/23/2017 6:33:21 PMIt's pretty ok, such positive reviews only go to show how low destiny one set the bar.
actually it's fair to say there was no bar
The opening level is just one level, and opening levels tend to be more tailored than the meat of most games. They tend to get more care and work than the levels in the middle of the game. Meanwhile, the complaints about Destiny 2 are game wide or PVE wide issues.

It took bungie a whole year to even do something close to homecoming, and that was the first mission in Taken king, so if the rest of the campaign has similar cinematic elements it's already going to be years ahead of destiny vanilla
