Are we losing our characters in Destiny 2?
I keep seeing news articles about how Destiny 2 will be a clean slate, with new characters. If that is the case I'm not to pleased about that. Bungie promised at the beginning of Destiny that we would keep our characters for the 10 year plan of the game. To go back on that promise would really be doing the fans a disservice.

Maybe you have to make a new character but the vault will hold our existing gear or maybe just the exotics we worked so hard for to collect.

1 ReplyI'm fine with losing stuff. Take kingdom hearts. We got to see sora develop and we lost our shit every installment. Each one adding to the story and it was worth it. "But destiny is a 10 year plan!" No, the contract is 10 years. The original idea may have been destiny for 10 years but after all the hate they've received it's since been changed. [spoiler] kingdom hearts is a poor example but with people talking about character development I had to put in sora considering all the kingdom hearts games there are. [/spoiler]

Going to play it either way. If we don't get our original characters, but the game is world's better than destiny, I won't care if we start fresh. All the problems destiny has removed plus a bigger exploration space / areas and I'm down. Especially considering it'll be an upgraded engine. 60 fps. Larger patrol zones. Maybe even space flight / combat. Who knows.

2 RepliesIf it means that the game is actually going to have a story, charter development, gear, fluidity, voice overs (consistent), a better engine, a better sandbox, and not be a 3 year long pay to play beta, then clean slate away.

3 RepliesPfff my characters are already out of the 10 year plan (ps3). And the grind here was very insane in my opinion so... spend on next gen to become legend and grind again and again ? For what? For Things cut off of the game to be re-selled again? To the see same reskined stuff? To see the next destiny 2 at the E3 and then see a game that is not even close to the trailers? Nope, Not again.

I'm gonna be very upset if this happens. I would love to see the story of our guardian continue for many more years. Pokémon has let us carry over our Pokémon game to game. I have Pokémon from my gba games and they've been out for 10 years (probably more) no reason we shouldn't be able to in destiny

1 ReplyApparently you didn't read news articles well enough. Those articles would also have stated how Destiny 2 would be a completely different take on the franchise and I would gladly sacrifice my character , as sad as it may be, to get a new, most likely more improved game.

1 ReplyI mean it's a game. Just taking the time to play it makes it a waste. 20 years from now this game will just be a distant thought in the back of our heads. So play it and have fun while you can and accept whatever they make.

BUMP we should be able to keep are characters over the past three years. Some people play this game every day as its fun and it feals rewarding when you get a god roll and then you can bost about it. Even if my weapons become usless like the fatebringer and all year one weapons I would like to see my progress over the three years ive been playing this game. They Make us buy 4 DLC plus buy a xbox one. I wouldnt imagin they would start from square one again It seem so OTT for them.

I just want to same character. Keeping grimoire is also a nice nod to the first game and a way to feel that the games are connected. Shaders, emblems are cool but w/e
