I keep seeing news articles about how Destiny 2 will be a clean slate, with new characters. If that is the case I'm not to pleased about that. Bungie promised at the beginning of Destiny that we would keep our characters for the 10 year plan of the game. To go back on that promise would really be doing the fans a disservice.

I don't really care if they do anymore. I'm pretty much done with this game
-
New game new character. Let's not make this a bunch of cut DLCs from this current Destiny.

Edited by ActualBlueberry: 10/19/2016 9:52:07 PMIdea: 3 new classes but 6 character slots - 3 for old classes 3 for new classes. Destiny 1 activities are locked to old classes but Destiny 2 activities can be done on both new and old classes. Some things would carry over like exotic weapons , ships, sparrows, and other items that can be used by all classes.
just an idea
Keep the appearance, take away anything else you want imo. I'm not worried about it. Things have to change if we are to enjoy a NEW game.
-
3 RepliesWell I think they will expand on the Stranger, and all the time travel interdenominational travel, our Guardians will be zapped of all their power and weapons when the leave their present time and demention
-
I don't think so , I think the vex went back in time to take away out subclasses , but I'm just not by lore just ideas being thrown
-
Think about it. If they revamp the subclasses. They will need to be reset. If they make a new game with new items then why should they bring the old guns. If they have new campaign missions then the world map we have now will not be needed. If we have new pvp game modes then maybe we should have a clean slate. Our characters, in terms of appearance should carry over. Stats, gear, pve and pvp stats will go. Otherwise whats the point of having a version 2? Apparently we are NOT getting destiny 2017 dlc. Its a new game. We may get emblems, sparrows and etc for our time in year 1 and 2. Maybe some sweet gear or weapon.
-
I hope they keep them, the whole reason I liked this game was because of that 10 year plan. If they are going to make another space call of duty type game with this I'm outy
-
They will let us keep our characters, but none of our items :D
just kidding I have no idea
-
I want my character to stay. But please don't let me bring all my old gear up to the max light. I want all new armor and weapons
-
I want all new characters and classes at the start but after thinking about, maybe some time gated way of bringing our old characters back. What if the tower is attacked and all our characters are killed with no ghost to rez. After fully leveling a new character you could unlock a raid on the tower which would lead to you ultimately choosing a character to bring back along with access to the old vaults.

2 RepliesBungie did say they were working on a Vault solution.
-
Until Bungie makes an announcement, it is all rumors.
-
Edited by RingersCheckmate: 10/19/2016 7:43:58 PMBungie also said we'd get more free silver than the 400 given originally, and year 2's original plan was to have two DLCs I prefer a fresh start. Using subclasses that are entirely different and weapon types that I can't compare to destiny 1.
-
I don't care personally. I'm good either way.
-
So much salt here, god damn...
-
If I do I won't care really. Still gonna play. We'll just have to wait and see.
-
1 ReplyIt all depends on the time Destiny 2 is set in. Does it take place a year after ROI, 10 years, 100? With out that Information, I'm hesitant to pick a side. A current guardian wouldn't be feasible in a story set 100 years in the future.
-
2 RepliesI would kinda want it to restart, as I play on my brothers profile because I forgot to make my own. So I would really want to switch to my account and play from there, but I don't want to level up my characters and get gear all over again with the same content
-
1 ReplyTechnically it's a new character every time you add new armor. It would be cool if they had a statue of your Destiny 1 character somewhere in the tower or whatever the social space is. I cant imagine it would be that difficult to do. (Obviously only you would be able to see your character.)
-
I want to reset my KD. Played so bad in Y1 that even with 1.6 in Y2 and Y3 I cant move past 1.1
-
I want d1 stuff to be obsolete. Not deleted
-
This must be a big deal for a lot of people. I am hoping that d2 pushes d1 into obsolescence. Where everything is just plain better and there is just no comparison. Would I miss d1 then? Or the crap I had? Not really.
-
1 ReplyRemember, Bungie never caves its "promises" in stone. I hope we'll still be able to carry our loved characters along. It would be a sad day if we have to start all over. But then again, see the Vault space situation we have... How many dear items have we been forced to delete? Bungie does not seem to have a concern for our memorabilia. Let's keep voicing ourselves while we still have time. Keep the fight in the game. Peace everywhere else.

1 ReplyEdited by DigitalNinja: 10/19/2016 3:36:01 PMWould it really be that hard just to import the customized character itself? Honestly, screw the weapons and gear carrying over, I just want to have the same guardians I created in 2014 to make it through to the next game. If it's a brand new game, then I'm going to want the new weapons and armor that come with it.
