I keep seeing news articles about how Destiny 2 will be a clean slate, with new characters. If that is the case I'm not to pleased about that. Bungie promised at the beginning of Destiny that we would keep our characters for the 10 year plan of the game. To go back on that promise would really be doing the fans a disservice.

Edited by Vindicalis: 1/18/2017 8:10:56 AMCome on people if bungie fooled you once what's stopping them from trying again. I just know i'm thinking twice before even buying destiny 2. Actually i'm buying it as a last resort because theres so many other "Better" games out there (that actually delivers what has been promised or at least have what destiny lacks) For instance Mass Effect: Andromeda is coming out and destiny will be soon be taken by the darkness and never seen again by me. Mass Effect may not be the type of game for just anyone but it sure has a broad universe to explore and an actual story.

1 ReplyBahahaha....BAHAHAHAHAH!!! Unless you actually signed the non-disclosure at Bungie, for all you or any "article" knows is that D2 could be a clean slate new game, or could be another "major" update like TTK, or could be vaporware at this point. The simple fact is Destiny had serious hype, and SOOO many people bought it 24mos ago, but ultimately by the time HoW rolled around, all the hiring and firing and general upheaval within the company settled, any shred of a future this game once had pretty much vanished. Personally, I blame two things: major mismanagement on Bungie's part, and Activision's bottom-line ways....

hell yea

5 RepliesYour character is nothing more than a wardrobe of gear that gets rendered obsolete every time Bungie sneezes and the light cap goes up. I would argue you lose your character every time new content drops.
-
6 RepliesYup. If this happens - it won't be what Bungie advertised (their right), and I'll exercise my option to not purchase - because it will then be like every other game, but without a plot or extensive levels. If I can bring my guardian with the stuff I've received to the new environment/world/planets/enemies, with new abilities, weapons to choose, gear to wear, and upgrade what I wish - this would be an expanding universe.
-
2 RepliesMaybe in destiny 2 we would keep our characters but one Time there's an explosion and we can onlybsalvage one thing and everything else we have will be gone except that one thing

1 ReplyDestiny 2 is just going to be a complete reboot. It's not going to be anything like the destiny we're playing now... Me personally I think they should work on the story. We still don't know what the darkness is and how it caused the collapse. Heck we don't even know the origins of our own characters! All we know is that we were revived by this little robot who has been searching for us apparently for years. The grimores are so cryptic that we're basically just making up our own lore...
-
11 RepliesA new game means new characters. What's the point of a new game then! If they had us keep our characters they should just put destiny 2 as a DLC!
-
Kill all the old gear. Let me be the same guy. Then we'd have nooooo problem.
-
Stop bitching and prepare for the wipe! I welcome it.

its going to be a start over, as its "destiny 2" a whole new game its not an expansion, with that said, i think Shaders/Emblems/Grimore/Ships should all cross over, as it shows who has been around since the start(yes i know "who cares") but for some people that goes a long way. yes they had a 10 year plan but i dont think that 10 year plan went to "plan" they took what they learnt from destiny and are making the game they promised us to start with.. put it this way the last 2 years was only a test run a "BETA".

If this does happen I'd like to see them substitute a single character with a much broader customization spectrum. Something like being able to make a somewhat hybrid class mixing your favorite parts of the three original classes. As for the subclasses it would be neat if you could change that by joining a certain order or faction. Just a rough sketch of an idea. Definitely needs work but that would keep me invested

7 RepliesWe pretty much start over every time a DLC drops so what does it matter?
-
I'm only okay with that if they completely revamp the game. Just keep the mechanics.
-
Hopefully, I want a whole new game or else we would be going in overpowered and run out of content in 3 hours.
-
Bungee used the same cannon story for all of the halos. Yes it's a different game type but you must look at their past. Its the same for Star Wars movies. They stay cannon (yes it's a movie not a game) but still

1 ReplyI hope that we dont loose everything. I would be fine with loosing weapons and armour, but i dont want an entirely new character. The point of Destiny is to become legend, and also the backstory of our character is awesome, and i dont want to loose that.

Clean Slate? Bad Bait?
-
I don't see how they can truly "wipe the slate clean." Then it wouldn't really be Destiny 2, but some other game. Each of my Guardians is essentially an extension or virtual representation of "me," not a distinct character like Saladin or Eris. They might make all of our loot worthless again, but I don't think they can "kill" our Guardians or wipe out all of our accomplishments as if we never existed. That wouldn't make much sense in the Destiny universe.
-
Nothing has been officially concerned regarding what they will be doing exactly. Whether it's a complete wipe, use the same characters but start fresh for gear, subclasses, etc. Or a complete wipe. I for one, would be excited to see what they can do with a fresh start now that they have managed to greatly refine the formula and have so much input as to exactly what the community is looking for.

3 RepliesBungie promised me whaaaaaa whaaaaaaa. Guess what, things change. They are allowed to change whatever the blam they want. It is after all THEIR GAME. NOT YOURS
-
News is they will keep a server section for destiny 1 dedicated fans, but destiny 2 will be all new. You'll get some rewards for being year 1&2 to boost your new characters. Supposedly this will be on Saturn and bigger than all current content combined.

More importantly, will I be in destiny 2? Will Nolan bot continue to mock me? Find out in episode 2 of destiny!
