Can we talk about silver dust?
Bungie got micro transactions perfect for the April update, granted I'd rather not have them at all but how they handled them was great. You could get 3 boxes a week. I manged to get full taken and spectacular gear plus both ships and sparrow in just a month and a half using free boxes.
Fast forward to now, we get one box a week. Containing one ornament and one silver dust, that's fine and dandy. It'll just take some time to get the ornaments I want.
Silver dust doesn't just stop there though, your iron lord, trials and raid armor both require silver dust to apply ornaments. 25 to be exact.
So yeah, if you don't dismantle your ornament you receive you'll be waiting 25 weeks to unlock the best looking armor in the game, for one character, for one set. Across all 3 characters there are 9 sets, each requiring 25 silver dust. That's 225 weeks. Or like 4 and a half years.
Even if you dismantled ever ornament you got and put it towards your armor it would take around 10 months to do all the ornaments on all characters. And you would have 0 weapon ornaments.
Well it's just cosmetic right? Sure, have fun walking around in rags while people are walking around looking like badass flaming wolf's.
I also forgot to mention that you need 6 iron lord ornaments in addition to the 25 dust. Currently the only known way to get them is to pray to rng that the one box you get a week has one in it. Which is unlikely considering it's not a guaranteed item.
They seriously went to far this time.

I think it's kind of funny how much Bungie hyped up weapon and armor ornaments before release. Yet they decided not to mention how strongly ornaments would be tied to micro transactions.
Also I'm not bashing micro - transactions, I'm bashing how they were implemented.

Sure, now it's just cosmetic, just wait and see where it goes next. Something people don't seem to relize is that the packages the sold after the April update contained gear with randomized rolls. Meaning you could buy boxes until you got the perfect perks on your gear.
FYI, that's not just cosmetic. That's giving actually a fairly significant advantage. Not to mention the rep boosters they are selling now.
More rep = more gear = faster level up/ higher chance to get better weapons/ armor.[/b]

And you know what the worst part of it is? You know someone was sitting there crunching the numbers and doing the math to set it up in a way in which they figured the average player would be more inclined to buy than grind. When that's your goal and your game isn't F2P, you're doing it wrong.

6 RepliesMicro-transactions shouldn't even be in AAA games. What happened to the times where you can buy a game for 60$ and all the content was unlockable? Now it's pay full price, and get cut content. A business is a business, I get it.. but these mf's are getting greedier every day that passes by.

6 RepliesThe argument where you insult people for not being financially inclined is whack. First off, not everyone is an adult. You got kids ranging from 13-17. The whole "go cut some lawns" is easier to say than do. I remember back then out of my whole neighborhood(populated my Mexicans) one white owner took up the offer, I say white because yeah a lot of Mexicans would rather do it and save money. Or, they have kids doing it too. But it goes for any family, if they have a kid old enough to cut the lawn, why would they pay you? Not every 17 year old is focused on a job as a money spender for games, especially micro transactions. When you got a 25 year old with a financially safe job then of course 10 dollars isn't much to them, why would it be? I get cosmetics, it doesn't change the game. But they flashed these armors at us, showed us the potential new sets without telling us that it's not part of the dlc. No, any micro transaction isn't part of dlc if it's paid dlc. I paid for the raid, story, and whatever else I have access to. Yet, they didn't separate that, that's misleading. Why they wouldn't announce that, they would've lost sells. If I had known what the -blam!- they planned with the ornaments? I wouldn't have purchased this dlc, it's annoying it looks cool. It's part of armor I could wear but not have yet, and that's enticing us intentionally and that's -blam!-ed up and insulting to the consumer. Any other game has the decency to separate the micro transactions so it isn't shoving it in your face everyday.

They seen just how many of us settled for the freebie package, they surveyed the collectors and came up with these numbers. 25 weeks is damn near half a year. D2 suppose to release when....next fall? So that's a year from now. They show us shit, we throw money at screens, and they know it. They know the diehards won't wait that long. Thus... we see the coolest shit, we drop the hottest dollar. I now have the Arms and Legs with Iron Design Wolfs and omg on the titan it looks awesome. Not happy i had to spend 65 bucks but im happy that i have the arms and Legs with Wolfs Heads, It looks Sick.

Best way to beat the system calm down sit back. And just wait for next week for the strike. Or a optional decision just waste a 20 i mean look at the silver. If you think about how much you spend on all games collected what makes the difference now. Am i right so yea it a win win

I understand that it's stupid, I really do. I also agree with how smoothly the last set of micro-transaction opportunities played out, like you cited. Unfortunately people have money to blow, and choose to blow it on this, instead of say, alcohol or drugs, or maybe car parts or musical instruments. Everyone has their hobbies. I feel like there has gotta be more ways to get the currency though. Because that's a long ass time before the next change of micro-transactions. Maybe they will be a reward from packages such as TOO or Banana. We can only hope.

Radiant treasure will make me go broke or ill have to settle on other gear. That's wrong for a player to settle. How dare they advertise so much badass stuff and then have the players pay even more money to get the gear. Shame shame. Id gladly grind for an rng drop of a radiant treasure. Now there's an idea!

I quite like the regular days of iron set for the titan. For me, when you turn yourself into a big pile of flaming wolves it seems a tad bit overkill. Then again that's just me :P
