For the players struggling and quitting in Crucible.

Stop giving up. Don't quit. Keep playing and if necessary, keep losing. Lose until you win, and then figure out how to keep winning. There has never existed a Sword that was not first melted down, hammered and then melted again. Just like Steel Sharpens Steel, being hammered by better players Will teach you to adapt, and will hone your skills. It's frustrating, and it won't happen over night, but it will happen. "Defeat is not surrender, Guardians."

I quit matches that are clearly going to be a loss. Bungie manipulates the teams and damage to ensure a 50% win/loss ratio. Thus some games are going to be a loss guaranteed. And since that's no fun, I just leave and find a new game. When they stop doing it, I'll stop doing it.

    • I think players quit because of the overuse and abuse of meta weapons... TLW, MIDA, 1000k. As much as I could use these weapons all the time, I chose to have fun and try different weapons. However, that alone puts me at a disadvantage. That's why people quit.

If people are quitting because they're not having fun due to rampant lag, poor map designs and constant weapon/ability nerfs that make for poor balance, then it's not a matter of "honing your skills". It's a matter of the game being legitimately broken.

        • It's not so much getting beat by better players, it's the game breaking lag that's the problem.

          • I quit when playing crucible games when they are objective modes and no one on my team of randoms plays the objective but me.

Nah.. crucible is more about connection then skill. I play the same way in every game and can go 2-18 one game then 25-2 the next.. I see straight up garbage players destroying everyone, not with skill or tactics, but simply standing out in the open or running directly at you yet winning every exchange.. I also see smart players that have a solid tactic yet they simply can't stop me.. I can somehow run into a room 4 guys have on lock down and somehow come out the winner.. It's just for laughs.. mayhem is more fun because it's made to be broken.. trying to take this game seriously is a lesson in frustration But I guess to be more on topic.. you'd be surprised how quickly a game can turn around and even a loss can be quite fun.. however, I've quit my share of games due to a team of red bars but that's usually it.. I'm here to play a game, not warp around and waste my time

                  • Sorry but no. Being "hammered" does not help you learn. Being competitive but still beaten helps you learn.

All good things in time. One the hardest lessons I have ever had to learn...and still, to this day, learn it all over again in Crucible. Great suggestion. Another one many of us suffer from is: extreme competitive nature. Often we let our emotions dictate our actions. The trick is, to pause a moment and recognize you're sweating gallons of salt. Recognize the moment. Then, as Yoda would say, let it flow through you. After a sweaty or rage-filled round, I will walk away. Grab a cold beverage, slap in a fresh chew, pace the hallway and ponder over how my face was getting turned into a street pizza. Take the time to give yourself an AAR: after action review. What killed you the most? Probably the best suggestion I got was from...myself. Wait for it... Recon! Try to view a few player load outs during prematch time. Sure, some may switch, some may be on your team, but when you're with pickups/ randoms, there is still info to be gleaned there, especially if those you creeped on are on your team. You now have the responsibility(?) and choice in determining your team's weakness and strength. For instance: two people I character profile creeped had marksman rifles and scouts. Their weakness, if they had any, was close quarters, one could logically assume. So, I opted for shotgun and a pulse load out. Know what happened? We won some. We lost some too, but certainly gave a worse beating than we took; we took many at times too. TL/DR: Analyze your post game performance/ record and watch footage, like sporting scouts and coaches do. Improvise, adapt, and with time, you'll overcome.

What's the point really? We are going to end up with a 50/50 win/loss no matter how much we apply ourselves, which is the dumbest thing I have ever heard any game developer try and implement!!! Nobody plays video games to break even, you flippin idiots!!!

As the OP said, keep playing - to anyone reading this. My main was -5,000 k/d in yr 1 I was so pathetic. It's now about to break even and it's taken a LOT of much improved play to get there. Compare with my recently powered up warlock with a fraction of play time & see my numbers on that compared to the one that was down 5,000. Keep playing. Keep improving.

                        • First time I quite in a long time yesterday, I got put in a match that had started doing rift and four times in a row spawn killed. I don't mind losing but not being able to shoot people or move isn't fun.

                        • I feel as though I have hit my peak. I don't think I will get any better. Just when I think I am improving it all goes to shit. At least now I feel that I can stop the bleeding. I can find work around a when a team is sniping or shotgun rushing using my dirtiest warlock tricks. I just don't get how I can go one game getting a 4.0 kd then the very next struggle to even ready my weapon before I am toast. I am wildly in consistent. Some matches I swear I can't hit the back side of a barn and others I pop head shots like I'm mlg. I am starting to feel like I'm fighting and invisible barrier.

If a game is full of titans, I leave. Shoulder charging pea brains are easy to deal with.. but honestly, the juggernaut and universal remote is ridiculous. Came across a pair of them in one game, and it was just constant respawn screen because they just ran circles around the map going to spawn point to spawn point. The most assholish thing Iv seen so far from damned titans. And the moment you almost out play them, they just smash you because they couldnt kill you any other way, and even if you are supposedly out of the range of their fist of panic, it kills you anyway. Titans are so so balanced.

So i won't throw away 15 minutes of my life, just to stay in a match with people, which do have pleasure at that moment. Or Bungie fix their pvp or players quit matches.

I've been playing Destiny consistently since HoW. My crucible skill level is somewhere between a scrub and a traffic cone. I have all of the meta weapons in the game: Universal remote Hawkmoon Eyasluna Hawksaw Suros PDX Mida 1KYS LDR 5001 The D I have found, regardless of when or how much I play, I never get better. I can run the SCRUBBIEST loadout with max armor and still be lucky to break even. 1 match I'll have a 1.0+Kd, the next a .4kd. My hit detection is always super delayed and if I red bar, I get crushed. I feel like I'm just a farmable punching bag for the other team. I say "Why bother playing PvP?There's nothing but frustration and disappointment in the crucible."
