Anyone have a problem with Handcannon shots not registering?

Been having a bit of trouble every once in awhile with this. Wondering if I'm just off my game or if anyone else has this problem. I'll shoot and swear I see the bullet connect but they take no damage. *EDIT: For those saying I should just pace my shots - Trust me. I do. My problem isn't pacing. It's that my headshots don't register sometimes even when I do. Or sometimes you don't have the option of pacing because every other weapon type will kill you too fast. I'll get shot 4 to 5 times with MIDA at ANY range before I can fire off more than 1 or 2 shots.

    • I've been having the same problem with hawk moon, water star, and tlw. My imago loop is fine though...

      • There's this stupid thing called bloom. If you fire 5 bullets real fast say bye bye til 2 of them. Real dumb idea!

      • Yeah i noticed too. Some BS about fall off damage and range and a cone..its stupid i just dont bother with HC anymore.

      • I have that problem every time I pick up a handcannon. I mean it's not so much a registering problem as it is me just blantantly sucking with handcannons. So to answer the question: no I haven't had that problem.

      • Driving me crazy, shouldn't need the best sight and two range perks just to land shots that I place perfectly.

      • If you try to shoot someone at a range outside of the handcannon max range or you are rapid firing your gun, that is why shots that seem like their hitting but are missing. Bungie changed handcannons to be a slow and powerful weapon once TTK launched. Ghost bullets don't exist btw

        • Range on hand cannons is key, I have eyasluna with rifled barrel and out gun a mida the other day, this is why u see ppl using thorn back before it was announced it was coming to Y3. TLW is still for some reason immune to this though, but my devil you know has no increase in range and sucks, other eyasluna's I have without rifles barrel are only good a close to medium range but at medium still have ghost bullets.

              • It's most likely connection based, I've played since beta, but the last 6 months the lag is on another level for me. It also doesn't Matter what gun I use.

              • You must have High AA and Range on every HC . This solves phantom bullets

              • Hand cannons have a cone for accuracy, meaning as you get farther away from the target the larger the cone around the target becomes making it more likely for shot to miss target even though your cross hair is dead on. It is stupid how this works. A solution is to use a HC with a High base range stat and make sure to use Rifled Barrel on all your hand cannons. This increases the range. The more range you have the tighter the cone thus resulting in less shots missing.

              • Thought this was a fake issue until recently did the 6+ Kills with Hand Cannon per match quest for Shaxx. I was a crack shot in Y1 with Fatebringer, Word of Crota and Thorn. Now it literally is shooting RNG bullets when I used Hawkmoon for that quest. And pacing only helps sometimes. They have really screwed up hand cannons...

              • yep I would have gone flawless final round final game I throw a knife shot with eyasluna no shots register and he killed me it was gonna be my first Flawless

              • It's Bloom... I find having hidden hand offsets it quite a bit and you can fire as fast as possible with consistent registered damage.

              • If you are slightly out of optimal range then even your first shot suffers from the 'retical bloom' effect. So not all bullets register. It's a game mechanic that bungie have. I'm not a fan of it either but it's part of the game design, unfortunately.

              • This mostly happens on luck in the chamber guns or the last word because of it's range.
