Is the Mythoclast any good in IB/Trials with sufficient light from supporting gear?

Haven't tried maybe I will this iron banner. But I do know that with 1 piece of gear and the rest at or almost 335 one ends up at 315 light which is a remotely competitive light level.

Edited by Kilo: 6/25/2016 5:51:56 AMYour overall light is just an average. The only thing it affects are your abilities. A 170 attack gun will do the same damage whether you have 170 light or 335 light.

Edited by Forever277: 6/25/2016 3:35:45 AMNo I tried using vex last week in the nightfall and even with the solar burn and me at like 315 or something it was a huge damage difference I tried Abyss defiant too, it was doing like 50% the damage that a kinetic y2 while at the same light level overall

Edited by Killlerschaf: 6/25/2016 3:40:46 AMBetter use Thorn as a support gun. With the Viking Funeral changes, it might actually be semi viable. Apart from that: Your weapon ATK level has more influence over your damage, than, your overall LL.

You can get away with Y1 special and rockets, the other stuff has too much of a damage reduction.

Use any y1 weapon (160/170 light) in the daily heroic Story (240). The damage reduction is very noticable. Now imagine using those weapons in IB/trials (330-335 light). You're not going to have much fun.

7 RepliesI've been using it in regular crucible a lot, and while it's a ton of fun, it's not that good even without the power curve. Also, I think the individual weapon's light level also affects its damage. Otherwise people would still be using Gjallarhorn as long as their total light didn't drop so much.

From everything I've experienced in IB and Trials these last few months, Light level doesn't seem to matter at all. For example: I played Trials with my usual fireteam, a couple of weeks ago, when Pantheon was the map. My teammates, both 334, were dome-shotting a level 260-something, and he was completely unaffected. We've also been wrecked by 290s in Trials and IB. On the flipside, another one of my buddies decided to use Thorn in TOO, and he was doing fairly well with it. So, I say to go for it.

If you are maxed light then it should only drop you to 315. Not going to hurt anything to try.
