If the tripmine was not intended for sticking to people how come I got a medal for doing so?

Please explain this to me? Edit: Furthermore, why did they do bonus damage when you stuck them to people? (Thanks for pointing that out below). And for the record: my biggest complaint about the tripmine change is the damage nerf not the 'unstickieness'.

  • you misunderstood, they did not realize that for almost 2 years it has been doing this. It was just missed somehow. They would have fixed this right away if they knew it was happening from day 1.

    • The bonus damage was from the impact of the stick (but was a bit much for getting bumped into by a stick of u ask me)

    • I really don't care if my trip mine is sticky or not, I'll just deal with it. But what I am unhappy about the damage change. I would have rather seen a 3% increase in damage for those people who take 198 and walk away I don't want to set my "trap" and then have to sit there for however long it takes to get a kill when I could be roaming and just forget about the mine.

    • What they should do is remove that damn red strobe and replace it with a smaller LED style light. Green if it's friendly, red if it's not

      • The funny thing is that there's a clearly visable red line. You'd have to be a damned fool or in a really sticky situation to step into it. Sometimes i'd step directly face into a tripmine grenade and survive it too. XD

                    I don't think you read the patch notes clearly [quote]Grenades The Tripmine Grenade has been a dominant grenade choice for a while. It’s possible that this because it was the grenade that did everything: set a trap, stick it to an opponent, miss an opponent and end up setting a trap anyway. The original intent with this grenade was to be used as a trap, not a sticky, so we moved it back in that direction. Conversely, we increased the Swarm Grenades damage and ability to detect opponents to improve that option. Changes: Swarm Grenade: increased arming radius by 0.5 meters Swarm Grenade: detonation damage increased by 7% Tripmine no longer attaches to enemies; instead arms on impact then bounces Tripmine damage reduced by 3% [/quote] Originally supposed to be a trap, not a sticky. They went sticky and now want to revert back to trap. So yes, original idea for the grenade was a trap. Then it became a sticky and they implemented that in game. But now they want to revert back their original idea.

                      • Alright ill humor your bait: What does it matter? If you cant use the subclass to a full effectiveness even after a nerf, then you probably should consider playing COD since they just hand you everything. A consistent and skilled player can still use their favorite subclass like a powerhouse even after its been nerfed. He'll figure out where it will succeed at, and where it will fail, and he'll adjust his combat tactics accordingly. Being adaptable provides a massive advantage over your enemies in the crucible, its something alot of people dont have.
