If the tripmine was not intended for sticking to people how come I got a medal for doing so?
Please explain this to me?
Edit: Furthermore, why did they do bonus damage when you stuck them to people? (Thanks for pointing that out below).
And for the record: my biggest complaint about the tripmine change is the damage nerf not the 'unstickieness'.

19 RepliesYour asking the wrong question(s) First and foremost - if it was never intended to work that way, why has it taken the best part of 2 years to be addressed? By comparison, atheon was never meant to teleport the 3 guardians furthest away from him, and that was fixed within a month. Secondly, if you purchased the official strategy guide alongside vanilla destiny, flip to classes and skills. It clearly states and suggests one should use it as a sticky bomb for maximum effect. Personally, I don't notice a difference with the sticking of the grenades. If the tripmine is thrown directly at the enemy, it bounces slightly but it still kills in pvp

186 RepliesTypical, ignorant Hunter. They do not do more damage when stuck. I don't know where that notion came from. There is not a tripmine specific medal for sticking someone. The grenade type is the same as the lightning and spike grenades, so either we can stick people with those or you can shut up about it. And seriously? You're going to complain about the damage, when it's the only grenade in the game that can OHK someone without sticking them? You want tripmines to kill? The lightnings should too. So should axion bolts. Maybe fusions should have a 15 foot kill radius too. Get over yourselves.

Well...at least the grenade still lands at their feet most of the time...and usually blows up right there. Another bright side is that I blow myself up less frequently. >_>

27 RepliesYou see, if they wanted it to be a trap only grenade they should have made it arm and deonate faster, and buffed the damage not nerfed it. Or possibly even swapped one of the hunter's exotics or perks to let you have stealth tripmines because they're piss-poor traps and don't do nearly enough damage to be worth using, especially since gunslinger [i]isn't the stealth ambush subclass[/i] It doesn't get backstab, it doesn't get vanish, it doesn't get blink. If they're meant to be traps then they should have done something to make traps more viable for gunslingers in general but they didn't. They just came in, took a dump and left.

6 RepliesDisclaimer: I don't agree with the tripmine nerf at all. They were fine. However, your argument about receiving a medal is flawed. The "Get it Off" medal is for sticking, with any grenade. It is not Tripmine exclusive as your argument suggests.

This is all forced changes so we will all play titans in this new titan DLC. Rather than promote change through rewards they dictate it through force. And we all thought these boards were for player to developer relationships. Ahahaha, jokes on you.

9 RepliesBecause the medal is not tied to the grenade itself...it's tied to the game registering the kill as a grenade stick. Tripmines are ment to be traps, not sticky grenades. Deal with it.

The application doesn't know what's intended, just what happens Grenade sticks, so that triggers the bonus damage and medal. The app doesn't care what a design doc says, just the tag on the item and the rules that follow. Now I do find it unbelievable that what they say is true and that they left it for almost two years I guess it is possible that yes, they looked back at original design docs and found some idiot coder made a mistake nobody noticed. But I find that h likely.

Bungie can't justify this nerf at all. The gunslinger already had a lot stacked against them. I think it is bullshit Bungie tries to force everyone in being a last word and sniper scrub. Some people like to actually earn kills. This cannot be called a competitive game when such an easy pass exists. Yet, they nerf things that only a few are actually good at. I even made another account called mister unicorn cause of my love for planting tripmines on my victims head. Now when I try they spin around in a circle until my supposed victim can safely escape. Haha, you guys just need to give me a job. It is like you guys come close at balancing or are completely off. I am starting to think you guys don't even play. But I do with an easy 100 plus days between accounts.

Because it was given the ability to. It's not a bug that it's a sticky grenade, Bungie is simply wanting people to use it as a trap instead since most people ONLY use it as a sticky.
