Edit 20 hours: Almost 2000 votes. The reason I'm suggesting it is because that would be 200 million dollars bungie could use to make destiny better. Just saying, most of us know by now the money they lost from bonuses and that they need more money. This would just be extra revenue to improve future games.
Make a movie.
upvote if you agree so more people can see and be polled
No joke! That's it. Video game movies are all the rave right now. The shitty ones like battleship are gone and now they are doing assassins creed and warcraft.
We all remember the hype for destiny. The live action commercials were inspiring.
For the lack of story in the game, you could make a story on film.
1) Fans of the game will love it
2) effing Sci-Fi fans will love it
3) Action fans will love it
4)CGI is much cheaper than it used to be and much better
Undoubtedly one of the most well know (whether infamously or not) games in the last 5 years. Destiny 2 is coming out next year.
NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME TO RELEASE IT.
I just came back from warcraft not knowing anything about it and expecting a bad movie. It was way freaking cool and I know a Destiny movie would be cooler. So do movie companies.
Imagine seeing a fire team going into the vault on the big screen. Maybe a teaser of Eris reporting her teams failed attempts to stop Crota as the captain of the fire team is being debriefed about the vault of glass. Then the second film would be flashbacks of Eris' fire team and then the main fire team of legendary guardians from the first movie going in to take down Crota. Or show the battle of twilight gap. Maybe show some ahamkara or stuff we don't know about yet.
I know pitching it to a good movie company would be easy as well.
the hype is real so take advantage while the timing is good.
This could easily be a multi-movie deal.
Edit: Free game advertisement for your games and dlc and will get new players to join
Edit 2: Let me make it clear that bungie would receive the money from royalties and trademarks and because they own destiny. They wouldn't need to do anything with the movie. Honestly the movie could suck and people would throw money at the (big) screen lol just like bungie always wanted
Edit 3: There is definitely a problem waiting for destiny to release more games and become an established empire before making a movie. One, the destiny games won't benefit from added revenue, advertisement would go completely to the movie company and not to bungie. We'd know the story if we wait, that leave more freedom for script writers to take more freedom and mess up the movies and make them worse. They need to hit it while it's fresh for bungie to benefit and to make it good. Any story aside from game cannon would make the movie bad.

Not everyone would agree... I dont

Eh, they shouldn't make a movie. However if they were to add a short little live action cinematic to each of the grimoire cards, and bring them into the game so we can look at them in the game.
-
My problem is with game turned movies, is that they don't have a well thought out story or plot. It's just about action sequences. Destiny, Dark Below & House of Wolves all suffered from lack of cutscenes, dialogue and mission structure that drove any narrative. What would a movie have to work with?
-
Video game movies have a history of sucking ass, and Assassins Creed looks horrible, they can't even give a real plot in the trailer, just action sequences. Warcraft is the only one so far that has a prayer of actually being a great film. I'm all for a movie, but let it be way later down the line, OR, have them make an in house mini series or long running series show of sorts. It's a perfect use for the wasted story content that is the grimoire.

1 ReplyComing soon to a theater near you: A BUNCH OF SOMEWHAT COHERENT CLIPS AND CHARACTER INTERACTIONS VISIT YOUR LOCAL BOOKSTORE TO BUY THE DESTINY MOVIE BOOK AND REALLY GET THE STORY
-
200000000 will not make them a very good movie I wouldn't have thought.
-
First bungie needs to make a game called destiny.
-
1 Replyheres how it would go if it was me: a player from the real world is transported into the gameworld starting as a new player would. the first thing he does when he reaches the tower is shot rahool in the face. then gets killed by the rest of the guardians the end for doing what we all want to do.

Games which turn into movies are rarely successful. I vote no.

Edited by GuardianPrime19: 6/9/2016 11:14:31 AMNo simply No If there's something people should realise by now, it's that video game movies are NEVER good. Seriously, they always try to change things for the "better" but shit on the source material... Or they don't change anything and make it a cluster**** for non gamers. Why do people still think it's a good idea? Do people think Mario was a good movie? How about Warcraft? Or maybe that still stuck in Limbo Halo Movie? This is maybe the worst idea I've heard on these forums. This idea should never come to fruition Edit: it seems I missed that you actually liked Warcraft. Ya know that the movie so far has flopped at the Box Office and has a 29% on Rotten Tomatoes!

I have also thought this if done properly it could be amazing the trappings of a good story are there it just needs to be told

1 ReplyAn anime would be really cool . Movie ? They won't make it good iam sure . Overwatch well work as a movie way better .
-
Last time they tried nothing eventually happened
-
Only enough content for a 30min episode. With each expansion, maybe another two 30min episodes. Mini series?

I wish

I love the Assassins creed games and am in two minds as to whether to see the movie later this year. It will either be fantastic or bomb. The fact that it is not Altair or Ezio is already disappointing. I also think films can spoil your own interpretation and understanding of characters. Its like having read a really good book and then seeing a film version and being disappointed or outraged that it does not meet your expectations. For example I thought the hobbits in LOTR should have been shorter. A minor thing yes but that was what was in my head. Now converting games into films has got to be harder cos people play differently and focus or different aspects. You will never be able to do a game justice when the player base, who will be the ones interested in watching, is so diverse. You have to compromise the film to try and give everyone something to enjoy. If they do make a Destiny film I hope they make it at least a trilogy in order to do it justice. I note there are also rumours of a Division film in early stages so it would make sense for Bungie to jump on the band wagon.

Books please, k thanks bye

Tron.

They should make some damn books like they did with halo.

You can't really just make a movie if you wanted to. It takes a LOT of work. You gotta write the story, film it, other movie stuff, and yeah it doesnt just happen. It would probably would ruin Destiny, and in my opinion would ruin Bungie and Activisions reputation from my view bc it would be viewed as them trying to hard. Since when were video game movies good ?

Edited by Synergy-Seven: 6/9/2016 6:17:39 AMYes and no. A movie can be very difficult to make and that degree of difficulty can heavily weigh on the fan-base size. In most cases, Movie<>Game adaptations have never really worked out and often fail spectacularly. You have to understand the level of delicate care involved to get things right with these ports. Just because particular game mechanics can drive it's lore into something nostalgic and exciting, doesn't mean it will have the same effect for a film audience and a bad movie can often damage a game franchise. I can talk your ear off all day as to why this right now is a bad idea, but I'm going to leave you with the negative review law '1 negative review can be more impressionable than 10 positives". There is probably only one exception, but you really need to look into the careful development into the Warcraft Movie before you assume your theories. Personally, I'm still salty over the D&D movie. Everytime I think of Dungeons & Dragons, my childhood nostalgia is now replaced by how -blam!-ing woeful that movie was.

1 ReplyThe film would be 12 minutes long then it would give you a prompt telling you that you have to go to Bungie.net to read what happens next.
-
4 RepliesThey'd ruin it with casting. Bet Channing Tatum would be Shaxx. Lol. Ew.
-
Yeah I'd say with how much innovative and unexplored lore there is, as well as character design, this woulda done better as a series of seasons like anime or live action. As a game it really flopped, but then again that's due to any number of reasons.
