You're not good just because you can raid

I'm solely a PVP player and will for the most part avoid PVE at all costs. Up until a few days ago I hadn't done a single nightfall or a single raid in year 2, but with the April update I found my light level lacking in trials and iron banner being stuck at 312 so I thought I'd give the raid a shot, it couldn't be that hard I'd done over 100 raids in year one and achieved flawless raider in VOG way before dark below dropped. But my experience in LFG and the forums was astounding, multiple times kicked from parties because I don't have touch of malice, exotic swords, black spindle or the sleeper or just due to low light level/lack of experience. I finally managed to jump in an experienced team for a hard challenge mode run by offering a trials flawless carry in return and even though they knew how the raid worked and I didn't I still got almost double anyone else's kills. What truly amazed me was how happy they were at oryx that I was able to kill the Knights consistently so quickly while often someone would have trouble and call for help... Really how hard is it to headshot a knight once that spawns in the exact same place every damn time? My point is anyone who's done the raid a couple of times SHOULD be smashing it out like a pro every time after, that's not skill it just means you're not an idiot and can remember a simple strategy. Obviously there's exceptions when you start soloing or going for flawless raider but simply beating the same raid the same way 3 times every week isn't impressive and it certainly must get boring. I also feel any decent PVP player could quickly transition into a great PVE player with little effort, and I doubt the same would be true in reverse.
Im bored at work and wrote this to provoke some entertaining abuse
• Make your own group and stop whining, or tell Bungie to implement optional matchmaking in all PVE acivities.

Ok now sherpa a raid with 3 people that have no idea what they are doing and when they do it wrong they blame everyone else when shit is clearly their fault. Sherpa a raid where half the team is so stoned they are laughing at each other the entire time and -blam!-ing everything up. Sherpa a raid where no one has the touch of malice or a black spindle. Sherpa a raid where you beat said raid In Under 50 mins. Just because you beat the raid doesn't make you special. Being able to do it time and time again while bringing other people through it that can't do it themselves. That's what separates a good pve player and a normal to shitty one.

        • I'll agree that once youve done the raid (especially KF) you should be proficient since the rules and encounters never change. I do think PvP and PvE take different skill sets. But PvP is MUCH harder to be good (and i mean good not the once in awhile going positive good) at than PvE. AI are too predictable and TTK in PvE is a lot lower than in PvP which gives you more time to adjust and adapt to a situation.

I actually agree, PvP'ers will generally be able to adapt to a raid strategy easily, while mainly PvE'ers will have a hard time adapting to a PvP strategy because nothing is the same in PvP. The first time my group ran Golgoroth we did the burn down strategy with two gaze holders and multiple orbs and we had it down within a couple of wipes, hell, this was the group that almost had world's first King's Fall completion if the runner hadn't f**ked it up on the relic at the end Also, you wanna do Trials sometime? Lol

        • you mention no skill yet it does take skill to remember the strategy, get it down pat, know exactly where and when things occur.. being a pvp player you simply don't understand the difference between a pvp player and a pve player. They are vastly different. pve players learn the map, the encounter, the strategy, timing and placement.. just like a pvp player does on the maps they play, the liklyhood of where players are at spawn etc.. if you feel you need to put down the side of game play you no longer play to make yourself feel superior.. so be it.. but you are wrong. The two players are as different as football and baseball.. each a different skill set and while a few (neon dion, bo jackson) excelled at both many are great at one and simply good at the other..

          • I love it when someone says they're good at anything pvp or pve. It works both ways. Gotten hate mail in PvP by someone with a scarab emblem talking trash about how I suck and he's so good, yet checking his stats he has 2 phantoms and a few no Mercy's and a kd of .9. To make it better the longer they stay in the lobby, the more they look stupid constantly negative and at the bottom piggy backing off of teammates. Raids too. Oh I've finished kingsfall 100 times! Really? And yet it's all on your warlock and you use self res and are dead long before the boss is killed. Yep you have skill.

          • Are you saying an only PvE player can't transition into a god PvP player? Well I have you know, my friend only does PvE and when we jump into PvP he goes negative every round unless he uses his God Roll Hung Jury in PvE. So yeah I guess you are right...

            • I ran the challenge 3x yesterday in a half hour. But quite honestly I don't how people die on their plates or can't take out their knights. I don't understand it. Just aim and shoot then take cover on your plate. The issue I see is the acolyte eye which should be the second you kill after the knight and that's it. I usually go for the fourth knight because the center titans or the other gamers can't seem to stay alive long enough to take out the fourth knight. I wait in the titan bubble until I spot him then I quick snipe him. "Fourth knight down, let's finish this raid"

            • Well on your warlock the KF raid you did you did have the most kills but I'd suspect from the multiple wipes and team mates you went through(10 players showed for a 6 man event). The 1 KF raid on your Hunter shows you had the 2nd least amount of kills. Better ? is can you hold the gaze? Or be the runner for Oryx(which by the way is the easiest job in the whole raid)? Have you taken down the Warpriest in 1 round? Look at my last KF raid on my Hunter, way less kills(as was everyone else's) with 10 times your KD and completed it in under 45mins with the same 6 players.

              • The raid isn't difficult the difficult part is getting people to stay in for the whole raid

                • My last raid stopped at win 480 something. That was a few months ago. Pve was literally putting me to sleep. Same enemies, same place every time. Same strategy every single time. My last team were all 320 light. All had over 4800 grimoire. All had spindle, ToM and SS. Now I didn't ask for any of that. I requested three players and 315+. I got three of Destiny best. They didn't spindle the bosses to death. They didn't SS. Only three of us used ToM. We spent less than 45 minutes beginning to end. I asked them. Pve much? They said no but all three of us are friends and go flawless every weekend. None had a lot of raid wins but they had very high reaction time. They said pve is easy. It's patterns and the same over and over. Nothing changes. My two friends agreed. My team hasn't raided since then. Those three players. All I know is they still go flawless. And during that raid. It proved it doesn't take much skill to win a raid. Just knowing how to and where to shoot in the same place every time. You don't need spindle, ToM or SS. Especially at or near 335 light.

                  • Sorry but I won't abuse you because I agree. People who constantly do the raid seem to have stupid requirements in what you should have and what light level you should be. I haven't passed the raid even once because I get yelled at for not knowing what to do without them explaining to me and I usually do better then the people who play it all the time. When I was a 300 someone tried arguing with me because I didn't have the old raid hear (Crota or VOG) what happened to helping each other in this game.
