It's not a giant middle finger. It's worse. It's indifference. These changes today detail exactly how they don't care how any balancing effects pve, and so shows they don't care about pve players.
Pve players aren't the ones salting your fries at lunch. Pve players have only started being obnoxious when there was no content in months. Other than that, we've been minding our own business.
Yet, we're the ones punished every time you try to balance PvP. Why? Because you don't change just PvP, you make global changes because once more you've shown yourselves to be too lazy to discuss PvP only changes or too incompetent to figure it out.
Oh I'm sure I'll play when the new content drops, but I will entirely reevaluate whether you deserve my money come fall.
Edit: to those saying, how does this drastically change pve? My main bone of contention is when they answered the question about pvp balances effecting pve. They said, "they didn't want drastically different experiences" or something along those lines...
Hello??? They are drastically different experiences! Pve and pvp are no where near the same experience. They seriously just should have said that it's too much work to separate the changes, which is the absolute truth, which again shows either their incompetence to create a system to balance pvp without effecting pve OR their lack of funds to pay more people to do it OR their laziness to put in the effort OR some combination of the above.
Edit 2: one of the better points to arise from this discussion is that they say they want the same experience and so refuse to separate balance changes. However, they never use pve stats when announcing changes...only pvp. Pvp are flat out driving changes that effect pve. This doesn't sound like a joined experience...
Edit 3: since a lot of people are missing the point... It's not that the latest changes will make things impossibly hard. It's the whole idea that they wont change pvp ONLY.

"For you pve players we got something... special...for you!" *hands you package with bungle logo* *your heart picks up a little bit with anticipation/excitement* *you undo the fancy iron banner wolf stamped ribbon* *as you open the box lid a scent of *Sex Panther by Odeon wafts out (clearly Deej's touch)* *space leopard print lines the inside of the box and looks very high price* *you feel the leopard print and realize (feels like a bag of puppy ears) its the real deal. Clearly they spared no expense for us pvers. *you move aside the glittery tissue paper* *pull out a pair of rough wool socks with pistol grips installed on them. Guardian symbol clearly embroidered on the side* *an unsure look comes across your face and bungle sees it* *the Andy Samberg looking bungle employee is obviously ready for this reaction* "NOW WHEN WE -blam!- YOU OVER YOU CAN GRAB YOUR ANKLES MORE COMFORTABLY! GREAT...RIGHT !?"

2 RepliesThis. I'm sick of bungie catering to pvp cry babies now. I've suffered a year and a half of this bullshit. They made a predominantly pve game and only cater to pvp bitches. Screw you, bungie
-
Here's the thing. It's much like government, Bungie is the ruling government for Destiny. What they have done is basically made it to where really good players will now be great, and mediocre players will get worse, like the government does for the upper class, at the expense of the middle class. Oh well, I know now I'll never get over 1.0 K/D average in PvP.

16 RepliesWhy can't I use my weopons?! It's MY Thorn, why can't I use it in endgame PvE content because of PvP fuktards?!
-
Two things Bungie is completely ignoring: Separation of PVP and PVE Matchmaking for every event They bury their heads in the sand and pretend the community doesn't care or that they know better. Hubris.
-
Having max rank was the 1 thing PvE players had the advantage in, and now they took THAT from us too... PvPPs are being allowed to ruin this game
-
I agree 1000 percent all I ever see people bitching about is PvP and when they try to fix that shit it ends up -blam!-ing up shit on the PVE side I don't play PVP and I never will and I could care less about that they could completely remove it and it wouldn't bother me at all other than that who the hell is Terry? LOL

Looking over the actual notes, the patch would have minimal impact on PvE.

Edited by CrazyCadder: 4/7/2016 9:50:57 PMYou should read the weapon balancing patch notes from when TTK was released. In it, they specify changes to the weapon as a whole. Then, they make changes to just AI experiences. Meaning, they can and they have made PVE only adjustments to weapons. https://www.bungie.net/Mobi/en/About/News?id=13474

Aren't the Thorn changes only for PvP? I chuckled because I thought to myself, "they finally admitted that gun couldn't be balanced in PvP and PvE at the same time". Although yes, I do agree...the PvP focused changes do screw PvE over, more often than not. Have you ever been using MIDA in PvE and thought, "Gee, I wish this gun didn't stagger enemies so well!"? No? Me either.
-
Do the commercials for DLC releases show PVP? No.. No they don't they show PVE activities. They sell one thing then deliver another...

Edited by Rush: 4/8/2016 12:23:08 AMI don't know about indifference, but decent gear drops once you reach 300-310 these days have seemed a little lax in recent weeks. Not to mention the fact I've must've been doing TTK since it launched but, despite Iron Banner, Heroic Strikes and a few King's Fall raids over hundreds of hours of play, I STILL can never get a pair of boots for my Warlock to drop at 300 or more! It's ludicrous.

I know man they've reduced 1000 yard down to at most fifteen shots if you have increased sniper ammo normally its 23 shots subtract 5-7 that's at least 16 from that. Now I don't know if they said how much the additional decrease was but I'm gonna assume it's 2-3 shots so at the very least w/ increased sniper ammo and that's 13 shots w/o it its at 18 shots normally so take 5 from thirteen (23-18=5) so at the very least it's an 8 shot total which makes it non viable in pvp or pve for either high dps or long sniping rounds
-
Hey! Listen! Nobody cares.
-
2 RepliesThey don't care about pve anymore destiny is on its way to be another call of duty so sad to watch
-
5 RepliesNo shit.... Reduced heavy and special inventory? Are you kidding me? Who the -blam!- is running about the crucible with a fully loaded sniper and 23 in reserve?.... I doubt it. Reduced inventory on heavy? This is getting out of hand. What in the actual hell will this do to PvE? Your DPS sessions on KF raid bosses will likely be shorter, because you're going to run out of ammo. High Caliber Rounds was the only reason i used MIDA for PvE. That was my Cabal stagger gun. Guess I'll throw it in the vault. Making global ammo changes for the sake of PvP was stupid as can be. Now special and heavy are going to feel like Handcannons did in PvE. You will spend more time looking for ammo than you will shooting bullets. I would like to point out it worked so well for Handcannons that they had to un-nerf it. So here's to 6 miserable months of hunting for ammo in PvE before it gets un-nerfed.

9 RepliesIt's PVE, it's easy as hell. Who cares? You could use any ole 310 + weapon and do fine
-
1 ReplyBungie's message to PVE players: "Stop playing PVE" LOL
-
2 RepliesThey're making their game worse to cater to whiny PvP player's idea of fun. My idea of fun isn't using my Mida pea-shooter Tool to rapidly shoot darts at giant Phalanx or whatever else I want to shoot.

Pvp people=nerfs

These changes remind me a lot of Egoraptor's Legend of Zelda OoT vs. A Link To The Past: "The game isn't harder, it just takes longer." This rings true with a lot of how people are saying, the game is not harder so why are you complaining? Yes, that's true. This change does not make things harder, it makes things take longer. It's annoying and completely unnecessary. All of which would not have happened if they just split the changes between PvE and Pvp. When you see people complain, it's not because they think it'll be harder, it's because they're tired of the gameplay being drawn out for, in PvE's eyes, no reason.

4 RepliesEdited by sargetc: 4/7/2016 2:48:55 AMBungie logic: Step 1. Let's create a weapon that absolutely breaks the crucible!! Everyone will want to use it!! Step 2. Oh no.. Qullim's is breaking the crucible.. what do we do? Step 3. Let's nerf ALL machine guns! That'll teach those players not to use the weapon too much!! Bungie logic: Snipers need a little nerf. Step 2. Nerf Mida's ability to stagger snipers.. one of the only guns in the game that does it well. Bungie logic: Firebolts seem broken, but.. umm.. we really don't know what to do, so.. we're gonna give sunsingers even more grenades!!! Bungie logic: people are complaining that shotguns got hit too hard, let's fix that by nerfing the amount of ammo they can carry!! Bungie logic: Step 1. let's buff pulse rifles (august 2015) Step 2. We love that pulse rifles are having a moment (Sept 2015) Step 3. we are nerfing pulse rifles (Nov 2015) Step 4. We are buffing pulse rifles (Apr 2016) Bungie logic: Step 1 autorifles are powerful. Step 2. we are nerfing autorifles step 3. we are buffing autorifles 7% step 4. we are only buffing autorifles by 0.04% and going to make Doctrine ridiculously overpowered in crucible step 5. we are buffing autorifles except doctrine, it is too powerful, and we really don't like that you are using it. Bungie logic: fusion rifles are fun, they are unique to destiny! Step 2. we are going to nerf fusion rifles so badly that they will be nearly impossible to succeed with. Step 3. we see that you guys want fusion rifles to get buffed, but we have 1 player in the playtest team that beats Jon Weirznewski with Plan C and he really doesn't like that, so we are going to nerf fusion rifles some more.

10 RepliesPVE gets harder once again thanks to the Crucibabies. Nerf ammo? There wasn't enough to begin with. Why not separate pvp from pve asks Deej, forgot his name responds we want everyone to have same experience when playing pve & pvp. Well I don't want to play pvp and am sick of your nerfs affecting my game play.

1 ReplyEdited by Gomly1980: 4/7/2016 9:51:27 AMA lot of PvP players are whiny bitches. A lot, not all. Go to any forum for any game with any sort of PvP and you'll see a pattern of nerf threads. All those games that have PvP yet very few of them manage to get it right and some of those that do aren't great games. Guild Wars has the right idea. PvP and PvE should be completely separate. Different gear, weapons and any balance changes made to PvP only change for PvP. Nerf threads don't appear because of balance. Balance is a myth, in over 30 years of gaming i've never seen it. It's impossible to balance every single thing, it just doesn't work. Nerf threads appear because some of those PvP'ers, the whiny bitch ones mentioned earlier, think they are far better than they actually are. When they die, it isn't because the other person is better in their eyes, it's because the other person is using overpowered weapons or abilities. 10 times out of 10 they were outplayed by someone better. That person may be using something classed as overpowered but they are still better. I know this because the nerfs happen and those same people are back on the forums complaining about something else that keeps killing them. Rather than try to improve their own game or run a counter they would rather take the easy road and whine until everything is as useless as they are. As i've said before, if you made everyone level 1 with a stick that only did 1 damage per hit you would still have people whining that someone had a more OP stick. One thing that should never happen is PvP "balancing" being detrimental to the rest of a game.

5 RepliesI guess the patch notes will be easier to understand than the stream. But reduced ammo in PVE will basically lengthen encounters especially vs bullet sponges.
-
2 RepliesHow can you only play one aspect of this game? How can you kill the same boss, do the same strike, do the same patrol every day and have fun? I'm genuinely curious. if there was no PvP in this game it would get old within a month.
