Be honest with yourself. Physical shape, social life, studying, esc are the factors to consider.

Today's Word of the Day: Moderation - the avoidance of excess or extremes, especially in one's behavior.

3 RepliesCould you put "maybe" or "possibly" on the list? Something in between.

I had a dream I met you in real life, so here's a picture of a duck. ~Zeratu

Absolutely. But the same could be said for TV or any hobby.

Video games don't make a difference in my life really
-
If you're the kind of person that gets all stressed out playing video games, then yes.
-
Cant really answer this cause in a way it will be a yes/no answer for me. I enjoy playing video games. I played when the NES was a big thing and pretty much up till now i dont play alot like i use to cause of work but i play enough to keep me destressed and to keep me sane.

Edited by RTC1022: 2/20/2016 11:08:30 AMMy life would be a lot better if didn't waste $80 for this shitty game.
-
At this point? No. 10 years ago? Maybe..
-
Still whackin it
-
Video games are the only thing that keep me happy and inspired. If they were taken from me... I'd go insane.

1) Physical health, I could reconsider. My belly isn't too round. 2) I am already anti-social. No problem there!! 3) All A's student. I'm some of those people who "don't need to study". Like, hear it once and I can take the test.

To much of anything is bad. But none of something you enjoy isn't good either. Why do you keep beating around the bush about quitting gaming?
-
You see the thing out side of the gaming world things often suck

Edited by michael: 2/20/2016 9:19:20 AMIt would be worse. I'm going through a ton of things right now, be it Girls or moving to a new country or a Father I haven't seen in 3 years. Games keep me distracted. Nonetheless, I'm still healthy. I use a treadmill often, eat normally for my age, am not overweight, and I still get things done when they need to get done. I only play games on Weekends which I think is a good way to keep me healthy and an avid gamer at the same time.
-
All in moderation. I am healthy, could be more active, but I have been addicted to games before (wow) and that was scary, as I would think about it all the time. One of my mates wives had a go at me as playing games was one of my favourite pass times. That's unhealthy. I said "What do you do in your spare time?" and she responded I love to read and knit. I said that is unhealthy and she responded "how is it" and I asked her to explain the difference and she couldn't and then just called me immature. It's fun and very social these days. That's my 2 cents.

8 RepliesEdited by Cipher 064: 2/18/2016 4:24:16 PMYes... and no. Sure, when looking at the immediate effects, it's easy to say "Yes, my life will be better without video games." But each and every person is different. Some of us (myself included, sort of) deal with the real life Darkness. Stress, depression, "one of those awful days", and overall just life screwing us over at every turn because life just sucks sometimes. Video games are our way of escaping. To forget all our troubles, even if only for a short while. In a way, video games help to relieve stress. When it all comes down to, what would you rather have, someone who takes out their anger on the real world by hurting real people or destroying real things, or someone who does the same, only that everything isn't real and only virtual? The answer is fairly obvious. And for some of us, video games are our inspiration. Our source of our creativity. Even if we set aside our video games... we would certainly find something else to fill the void. Netflix and chill? Maybe. Sitting around and watching YouTube videos all day? An almost certainty. But the problem with simply watching videos is the fact that your brain is entirely passive. Taking a back seat and absorbing all the information without having to do any actual effort. When you play video games, your mind is actively engaged. It takes effort (mental effort, not physical effort) for the brain to not only receive and process all information that comes via sight and sound from your television and speakers, but to also provide an appropriate reaction to the information it is being given. But, all of us are different. I can't really speak for everyone.

I don't really talk to people to begin with ( unless I work in a social environment) I keep to myself when I'm out and about I take care of my dog, my social life is with about 3-4 friends ._. I've made some great friends over Xbox and we've all been friends since :3 I don't smoke or drink or anything like that <=< games are my stress reliever and they help it well :3 ( I'll be going to the military at the beginning of the summer) :3

2 RepliesIt works both ways, my Destiny addection cut my bar bill down to almost nothing. Rushing home to play Destiny saved me a ton of $$$. On the down site I did gain a few lbs. I'm taking a break, started working out again.

2 RepliesNo because I try to balance everything. School all morning. Get home to study Eat dinner Jogging (2-3 times a week for about an hour each time) Shower Play Repeat Im currently a 2nd year college student
sadly no work. I had to quit my last job because after being promoted to SUPERVISOR of a local bank for 6 months, they never gave me a pay raise that comes with it. Basically ALL of the responsibility AND fault, with none of the pay. Wtf? ._. I would have been okay with it if they didn't say "we'll get back to you on that!" Each month and then to proceed to promote other people AND give them their raise. In a meeting in late November they announced all the people who were getting a promotion and raise. I had been working as a Teller Supervisor since end of July so thought I'd be up on their list but nope. To me that was the last straw. Sorry for the rant:/
2 RepliesI typically pull a frank underwood and come home from a long day of work to mindlessly cut robots in half with bullets, firefly the heads off of zombies, popcorn pop pigmen, sword slash pirates, and now annihilate Oryx's stolen army... Keeps me sane
-
1 ReplyIt takes stress off of me
-
If I didn't play destiny after work ........ I be with my boys more. That means spending money at a bar gambling and drinking, obviously having a great time. That's always comes with spending a hell of a lot more money. That also comes with the terrible fear of a DUI while driving back home at the end of the night. My wife prefers me on destiny lol.
-
2 RepliesI'm a father of 4, a husband, I work my ass off, I don't drink, I don't do drugs and gaming is my way of decompressing at the end of a long day. I think I'm good, tho I DO have a bit of a belly, but that's only cause my wife is a kickass cook, lol.

Everyone needs an outlet for recreation, fun, and to relieve stress. Plus video games improve hand eye coordination, exercises your mind, and is good for you socially with all the new people you get to meet and interact with online. If people didn't have video games, they would probably just replace it with something less beneficial, like watching TV. So, I'm going to say no. Most people's lives would not be better without video games.
