Be honest with yourself. Physical shape, social life, studying, esc are the factors to consider.

Idk really. It's more like if I played less I would be better off. Work and school have just been mega stressful this year and it's been my way of blowing off steam. A little bit of senioritis as well, don't go to college kids. Just kidding. Kind of.
-
Yes and no, I'd probably study more but thats probably it.

I do computer refurbishing in a warehouse 35 to 40 hours a week (30+ counts as full time for me :)). The job is very physical and involves tons of troubleshooting errors and beep codes. I easily hit 10, 12k steps in my 10000 sq ft warehouse. Gaming to me is an outlet to release stress after work.

I feel like I have made so many friends in video games that if I left I would just make my life worse. It is where I have most of my social interaction. The people I have met are all just so great too. Better than real life friends. (I do think online friends are real friends I'm just saying my friends that I talk too without a headset)

It is not a matter of quitting video games. You just need to set down your priorities and dedicate an adequate amount of time to all your activities.
-
Honestly no. Many of my friends I cannot see as they moved and Xbox is the only way I can do anything with them. Also, I play games to blow off steam and relax after studying and doing homework so my life is alot less stressed. So my Xbox stays with me.

Better than doing drugs, I guess.

I've gone from hardcore gamer to a casual. It was like a right of passage I guess. I was forever 27 I was fiber wiring people and getting silent assasin. Now I'm just waiting for the next hitman game. I'll more and less play it and barely look at my ps4.

N.O. Games are like no other entertainment. Gamers have the greatest insight into disaster and future situations. We know and do it all. Games are the best!
-
Yeah. 3.5 gpa Last semester. This semester not going so well.

I run, I have a full time job, I have a wife, all my friends moved away. Gaming is really the only thing I have to keep in touch with my friends and it's one of the only hobbies I have. I'll never stop
-
Hard question ... i will to travel to tibet for a month. I need to think about it
-
Hey it's smoggy

Everyone needs a hobby and gaming is a good one

This past year I've been seriously contemplating quitting. But I've also only been playing around a year. I enjoy it and love the friends I've made online. Society seems to frown upon us gamers as being lazy and socially awkward. Especially my family. Pouring my hidden self into video games so I don't ever need to tell my homophobic dad that I'm gay. Decisions decisions.... Depression thickens.

Edited by Alex_Supertramp1: 2/21/2016 10:53:58 AMYes, I'm hopelessly addicted and it's a problem. Played Destiny for 70 days in game time. Finally got bored, moved to WoW for a few months, got bored with that and actually took a break for a couple months, played very reasonably during that time. Division beta comes out, and I play from 7 am to 2 am without getting out of my chair.... March 8 is coming and I'm scared...

1 ReplyNo. If i didn't have video games I'd have aids. I'd also be an alcoholic and a smoker and most likely in jail dropping the soap.
-
If I didn't play video games I'd be broke. It stops me from going out and spending a bunch of money
-
No my life would not be better without video games. What people need to learn is something called moderation. I play a few hours each week and through winter I tend to play a bit more, in summer I am out and about with the wife and play less.

I'd be cream pieing every sugarwall i see.

Cant Study properly

I'd sleep more. I'd also probably be more socially outgoing and spend more time in a gym. That's how I lived before I found gaming. I'd much rather be gaming when thinking about it.

1 ReplyEdited by SpookyNoises: 2/19/2016 9:33:37 PMI'm in a rare spot on this one. Late 30s, happily married (4th anniversary next week!) awesome job with crazy and unpredictable hours (wife and I work in film), mostly socialize with coworkers, have enough just time for passions (writing). I eat well, could probably stand to get more exercise, but overall I enjoy my life. Destiny is how my wife and I unwind. I used to game a lot more (I was semi-pro in TBC and WOTLK), and I occasionally struggle with my old hardcore sensibilities. I don't have BS or ToM. I haven't killed Oryx and my old gamepro instincts howl about that fact. My PVP skill is abysmal (some friends are still in the pro CS circuit, and I'm not qualified to map spot for them). Sometimes I wish I had more game time and a regular raid team, but honestly? I've got a good thing going. I didn't get here by gaming less and seeing other things grow to fill the gaps. It was the other way around: the rest of my life got bigger, so gaming got smaller. I didn't, and don't, indulge in "gamer guilt". The fact is that I use skills I developed as a gamer every day (my APM in Excel is Starcraft tournament-worthy ;-) ). It may work for some people, but for me the most effective life technique is to avoid doing things out of habit. Before I pick up the controller, I ask myself "what do I REALLY want to be doing right now?". Sometimes the answer is dishes. Sometimes it's to dig into a new script, or revise a poem. And sometimes the answer is Destiny, and that's fine.

1 ReplyI'm better off than people who sit on thier phones all day and make fun of people who play games instead.

1 ReplyI play games because I don't have a social life... not the other way around
