It's only going to get worse some leading presidential candidates want to bring torture back to fight terrorism too, the worst part about it is a lot of people are supporting them for that reason. At least when they did it the first time they tried to hide it, suggesting they at least knew it was wrong, now they're just openly advocating for it.
