Year one old timers
Year ones on this forum remind me of those old guys stuck in the 50s or the 70s
Refuse to move with the times and always bag on the superior new stuff while going on about their old outdated stuff like it's still relevant
"Well back in Ma day young sonny fella we didn't have no fandangled sleeper simulant or what ever Doo hicky it's called friend, nah, back in my day we had to earn our gallerhorns the hard way, our gallys would eat up the archeon priest up miles sonny boy"
And then all the old timers jump in and drive the point home
"Oh boy you right Fred these young year twos don't know the struggle, they'll never under stand the feeling of wielding the almighty gallerhorn"
And then it gets worse
"I wish they would bring back phogoth and why, they outta bring back the nexus mind while they at it, you new folk will never understand the fear of being kicked to orbit taking void burn splash damage from up on the ledge on the nexus mind!, but then again , we had gallys back then so never mind all that"
I swear if they got their way we'd all be playing the same stale old game and every one would be using fate bringer , black hammer and *cowboy voice* the almighty g horn.

2 RepliesWell ya see sonny, let me tell ya a story about my day back in year 1... Ahhhhhh yes, I remember the first time I set my eyes upon the travler. "Destiny, coming fall 2014". Ohhhhh yes, I remember how I pre-ordered my ghost edition, which might I add was much better than this new spam-spangled "taken king collectors edition". Yes I remember staying up late and missing my show jeprody and skipping bingo night in order to watch the launch of this wonderful game. I remember the second the servers launched oh yes I do. I hopped on in and made up my fancy shmancy guardian to look all nice and Purdy. And ohh my lord you will not belive the look on my young face when my ghost revived me and led me through the wall and into the Cosmodrome. Did you know that we couldn't officially go back to that area until the house of wolves? Mhhm, didn't think so sonny boy. Anyways, I ran through missions and I killed bosses. Of i wanted to do a weekly heroic, I had to pray to the Lord himself that I had a few buddies on. And sonny I won't even tell you about meh first night fall. Oh what a joy it was to see the flame burning bright around my head, something you youngsters can no longer understand. And we didn't get no old worn down 295 ghost, no sonny boy we got the best loot in the game. There were gallys and exotics, and ascendant shards and energy. And now look at ya'll with your fancy armour and your colourful ghosts. Ya know back in my day we only had two types of ghosts. A white one and a red one, and you had to be special to get to red one. But we made dew with what we got. Oh sonny boy you won't belive what joys year one had. If only you were there to see it *yawns* Ya...if only...you wer-...ther-...tu see-... *snoring* [spoiler]pretty much every conversation with my grandparents...[/spoiler]

Oh our bad, it seems us year one's ought to apologize for wanting content that was rendered obsolete. Leaving only one third of a game playable. Or when we look back to a point in the game where you were excited to get loot. That exotic bounty you were grinding out, having to dismantle fusion rifles or work for the thorn. When nightfall was actually worth doing and presented a challenge. Let's not forget the there was only one system of RNG to contend with.

1 ReplyYear 2 players will never understand the true grind of year 1....need spin metal or relic iron you can go buy it....in year 1 we actually did speed chest runs and farming runs on planets....there is a lot that year 2 people take for granted that year 1 players truly grinded for....so yeah I'll be the old timer anyday

Yes, and Destiny would be a better game if we brought back year 1. With all the year 2 players came the worst lag in the Crucible ever. Just because you have not experienced year 1 from the start, you don't have to look down on us for remember the good times in Destiny.

Or maybe we want to actually be able to play things we were able to play in the past and get something from it? How is it a negative thing for them to add more strikes or raids to current content? It would only benefit you.

You make zero sense. There is nothing wrong with loving year 1 content and wishing it was at year 2 levels and relevant again. Year 2 brought some positive changes but you obviously don't get why we love year 1. I just wish I had more time during year 1 to truly enjoy that ride. Now I play casually pve. I think everyone should play for what they enjoy and go with the flow. When it gets to the point where I literally can't stand playing I'll just move on.
