Destiny is done. Proof: Bungie has no long term plans

We now know the original destiny was cut up and restructured a year before launch. We now know The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King content was all originally in vanilla destiny. Bungie took a $60 game and sold it for $160 once all the expansions were bought (and it still sucks). The worst part? Bungie lied to us repeatedly, telling us they didn't rework the story; that this was new content. Then there were all the ridiculous mistakes, buffs, nerfs, more lies and terrible public relations throughout. The biggest lies include: Deej 12/2014 "We don't want you to look at your favorite gear and decide it's no longer relevant. We will honor your time spent grinding and earning that gear" when aetheric light was announced. Or the latest lie: "We don't do Skill Based Match Making." ... "Ok, we do use SBMM, but we've stopped. Honest." We then find out Destiny 2 has been pushed back indefinitely and there are no future plans beyond a lame doubles pvp valentine's event. This is after Halloween and Shitty Racing League, which were just excuses to get you to buy silver. Two days later, Harold Ryan, the previous CEO is fired. Protip: when a CEO "steps down", you know he's been fired if the new CEO says a few words. If the old CEO truly stepped down, he says a few words, not the new guy. So it's clear destiny is done. There are no new plans or bungie would already be telling us about them, hyping them, telling you to pre-order them. All they had planned was tiny live events. That's all we've heard about since September, 5 months ago. No wonder the old CEO was fired. So by now the desticles are screaming "omg there [sic] making destiny 2! Ehrmagerd!" ... are they? Where have they stated that? They haven't. It's pure speculation that they're making destiny 2. Plus, even if they were, it's been delayed to 2017, at the earliest. Sad truth is bungie doesn't have a clue. All the talent has left long ago. Look at recent history, this company couldn't even write a contract to keep the voice talent of Peter Dinklage for 2015, blaming "stupid Hollywood reasons". ... Seriously? Grow the -blam!- up and do your homework! Companies are able to retain talent for decades, you just need a competent team. I suspect Dinklage saw how amateur bungie is and just got fed up, like Joe Staten. ... and that's it. Bungie is so amateur they had no plan other than "let's lie, cheat and steal, sell a $60 game for $160 and then. ... ??? Profit!" If I'm wrong, show me where bungie has given any indication that this supposed 10 year plan is real, and being implemented. ... Oh that's right, you can't. EDIT: I write these posts because I love what Destiny could be. I call bungie on their bullshit so they know they're not fooling anyone, and that they'll be held responsible.

    • Just, just stop. I don't even play this game that much anymore and I can already tell from the headline that no one gives a -blam!- about what you think of the game. If you don't like it then piss off because this community has enough toxic players like you already.

If you truly love this game and want it to succeed, here's how to proceed: 1. If you've already reached 320 or close to it, start helping out other Destiny Guardians. Host raids where you patiently and with empathy teach other Guardians how to complete the raid. Offer to help other Guardians, because it's not really issues with content that causes Guardians to give up, but rather a toxic non-supportive community filled with snobs and trolls. People stay where they feel welcomed. 2. Stop cheating in the Crucible. You know who you are, Mister & Misses Lag Switch/UDP Flooder. There are players that are aware of how horrible they are at Crucible, and they make up the majority, but are brave enough to keep trying to improve. Cheaters cause these players to not want to continue playing. Again, a toxic community can ruin an online game. 3. Stop supporting the YouTube Leak Liars and spreading their lies for them. Even if they provide truthful leaks they are harmful to the community, because the not so logic-minded gamers really don't know how to separate information provided by Bungie from that provided by "insert famous YouTube Guy or Gal." 4. Stop undermining Bungie's attempts at financing the future of this game! If you don't want to buy emotes, then don't buy them. Don't get on the forum and urge other Guardians to not support Destiny. You want more content, but you don't want to pay for it? How is that supposed to work? Let's look at some financial facts and a bit of an opinion: (i) According to an article at gameranx, from 2009 to 2014, the Destiny development team grew from 4 people to 500. You think they worked for free? (ii) According to this Wikipedia list, Destiny is the fifth most expensive game in terms of development. I don't believe this particular list actually includes advertising and marketing costs. (iii) Do you really think that Destiny + Dark Below + House of Wolves + Taken King are worth only $60? I know this comes down to individual opinion and not fact, but I want you to imagine that you were the creator of all of Destiny and seriously consider whether you would value that content at solely $60. I am NOT without sin, I whined every time I had to shell out cash, but I slowly began to realize how amazing is Destiny's content. These developers put a lot of work into this game and its expansions, most notably the Taken King, don't feel like mere DLC, but more like standalone units. Most games' expansions are just clothing, weapons and weapon skins. You're telling me that 3 raids, 13 strikes, Prison of Elders, Court of Oryx and 30+ story missions is only worth $60? I'm tired of people whining about so-called "cut content" being sold later. You cry for dedicated servers, but scream "evil, greedy corporate jerks" whenever they introduce content for sale. Do you know how expensive dedicated servers, whether owned or outsourced, (including their maintenance, diagnostics and monitoring) are? Every time you get killed in the Crucible, someone at Bungie has to go and nerf or buff weapons, that person or persons gets a check. You want one of the most amazing video games ever created for free? You want them to keep introducing content for years to come, but they can't charge you a dime to do it? Also, why the f*ck do you guys constantly try to ruin or defame Deej? Imagine your boss giving you the green light to make an announcement about an upcoming event in your company and then a few days after making the announcement your boss cancels the event. This is what every spokesperson for any enterprise faces. How is it his fault? I'm not saying you have to like this guy, but damn some of you have the nerves to call for his termination, knowing he has no executive power in regards to content. Do you see why this makes you seem illogical to others? Warlocks unite for brother Deej! Also, I've seen some of the mistakes Bungie has made. Yes, there are some annoying things in Destiny. No Destiny is not perfect and there's room for improvement, but there is nothing that warrants the current whine fest that's been going on in the community. It's not helping the future of Destiny. Only by creating a better atmosphere for new and future Guardians and by giving constructive feedback to the developers can Destiny remain great. Realize that if you're going to play any video game for hundreds of hours per month, you will eventually become burnt out and bored of the game. Too long, didn't read? Then you don't give a f*ck about Destiny and should delete your Guardians, sell your game and get the f*ck off the forum. EDIT: Maybe, because I grew up playing games that only had two colors and a few boards and I've gone through the evolution of video games, I value Destiny more than the younger crowd. Sheeeeit, Vault of Glass is worth $60 to me! I apologize for my TLDR sidenote, it was in bad taste. I did it out of frustration, the forum gives us an opportunity to get together and discuss Destiny, but lately it's become one big whine fest. I feel like I got my $140 worth so far. I feel that many of you are bored with Destiny because you rushed through the content and Three of Coined your exotics (I know I did!). I also think that this game is so good that we completely immerse ourselves in it and spend hundreds of hours playing that we end up dissatisfied with it.

          • I'm actually starting to agree. My friends list went from 4 pages playing destiny on a Thursday to 4 players on reset day. Most of this community is terrible with hate messages cause I'm using a gun that I like. I tried call of duty again for the first time in a year or 2. I thought that their community was awful but I got into a match with a friendly guy. We have a nice chat and we both got offline after a few games. I honestly don't think I can name a time like that in destiny except for maybe my first VoG, crota, and Oryx.

          • Why do people bitch about sparrow racing when we've been asking for it since like day one of destiny? You don't need to buy a single peice of silver to get the full experience out of srl. I honestly think the community is as responsible for the state of destiny as bungie is. Well not quite be still somewhat responsible

I'm not done with destiny by any means. But I did need a break until we get some more pve content. Cause I could give 2 shits about pvp

            • On I'm not going to prove you wrong Just like your not going to prove any one else wrong with out evidence You can't prove they are not working on destiny 2 And didn't they say that all progression on our char will be transfered over to the next game kinda implies another game OK a CEO steps down or gets fired o well not the end of the world Same with people that left. I'm sure just like you in your Job that they can be replaced But now prove to me with some kind of evidence that d2 will not happen and destiny is done for. If you can not do this then please don't speak on the subject and claim theses things.

                • You have gotten all of your information from sources outside of Bungie. No one pulled you aside and gave you all the details and frankly we can't always trust the guy that has a friend that works with a friend's dad at the studio and knows what's going on. I do believe that several things have been handled poorly with this game and by Bungie. I also believe that what we recieved was well above the quality of other games that are out right now other wise we wouldn't be talking about this one we would be playing another one. That being said, let's wait and see what Bungie's actual response is on Destiny 2 or the next expansion because frankly they are holding their cards close to the vest it could be either. If they come back and say that nothing is coming out this year we have another year to go then we possibly will be looking at validation on all of the "sources" out there. I'll also say that what could be happening right now is the company was moving in a horrible direction they hired a new CEO and given a few months all of a sudden we see vast improvements. Or maybe they delayed Destiny 2 because they want to learn from the mistakes of this one and make a better game. Just saying hold judgement until we know for sure.

                • So. The words is that the engine is hard to develop with. Consequently, a lot of time and effort is required to create new content. This is surely the problem. It's a bummer but there's probably no easy solution. Spend time creating DLC or spend time creating tools to improve workflow - so that future DLC can be created quicker. (Maybe even a new engine?). The player numbers must be nose diving. If they could get new content out, I think they would.
