Destiny is about gameplay. They give us 9 different ways to play, with even more options to customize our gameplay. The game does not force repetition on you.

How was Halo not more repetitive? Compare Destiny 1 to Halo CE... both the first in a series and a new project by Bungie... the only way anyone got 100s of hours out of Halo was by playins TONS of multiplayer or replaying the campaign to no end.

Pong. Pac man. Fallout 3 (ugh), sonic the hedgehog, far cry 3 got pretty repetitive. Uhh, probably lots more. In the old days some games didn't even have an end, they just cycled back to the first stage but faster, infinitely.
