Yes, The Division.
Now, while this game could still use a few things (Like a Clan System...), it seriously details the kind of experience we all were hoping for with your game. And while I'm in no way a fan of Ubisoft? I must still give them props for what they have managed to accomplish with it. (I get the feeling they're gonna do like they did with Assassin's Creed with those damn micro-transactions, but that's a whole other kettle of fish)
1: An "ACTUAL" Open World experience. The locations in Destiny are crazy small, guys. That includes the Dreadnought, I mean they all give this illusion of great size but seriously? Not much to them. I mean look at how friggen huge that map is for crying out loud. And that's not even the entire city, dude. There is plenty of potential for them to expand and open things up later on. (If they want to. If the game turns out to go over well enough with the community odds are they may just look to put out a legit expansion)
2: ENCOURAGED EXPLORATION. The game naturally draws your attention and constantly has you thinking "I wonder what is over there?" Your curiosity is often times rewarded and presents its own individual experience for you.
3: Open World PvP done right. I mean fact is, Destiny has zero PvP. It really doesn't. The Crucible is your typical FPS Multiplayer experience that is just a literal carbon copy of previous Bungie games with less innovation. I mean you guys really made your mark with your vehicle gameplay in Halo but then Destiny comes along and nothing? Really? Come on man... Meanwhile, this whole "Dark Zone" thing in The Division is amazing. It is a breath of fresh air for the genre and allows for all manner of scenarios and strategic combat, offering REAL challenge.
4: HOLY CRAP A STORY!!! Yeah, no joke. Unlike Destiny, we're seeing even from this short video that there is far more meat to the game's plot than Destiny, even The Taken King. (Which TTK didn't actually do much for this anyway, outside of creating more plot holes for the game =P ) I'm not left wondering "why am I here?" or "why in the hell am I doing all of this in the first place?" You know, can we all get some damn motivation? I expected to get MORE for the why and the how with everything, but my Guardian never got that. And yet, The Division is offered THREE different storylines that you can apparently play through? That sounds surprisingly what Joseph Staten wanted to do with Destiny. Hmm... Me thinks you should have listened to him more. =P
5: Dynamic, Interactive World. The Division gives Day/Night cycles and weather. Locations are rife with tactical factors to play upon, like fuel on the ground that you can ignite to just waste any enemies. The enemies themselves are not predictable, unlike the mobs in Destiny. You could pass through an area twice and encounter different hostiles, some of which will present unique situations such as holding an innocent civilian as a hostage. Not to mention the presence of friendly NPCs in the world that you can kill or help, etc. All of these things establish a breathing, living Open World.
6: A Crafting System. Need I say more?
7: Weapon Mods. Again, do I really need to say anything else here?
8: Meaningful Class Variation. Honestly, if you exclude the Super and Melee Ability, there really isn't much diversity for the Warlock, Hunter and Titan in Destiny. These classes seriously don't play all that different from one another. They all end up blending, you always play the same like anyone else. The Division actually offers real variation, though. You wanna play a Tank? You get a damn shield. A SHIELD. (Something I've been wanting to see in Destiny for a year now) There's just more character here.
Its core elements that your game is missing, Bungie. All they need for that game is a dedicated Clan System and they'll be sitting pretty. You could have done so much more with Destiny. Do you see why its so depressing for us to see what the game has turned into?
There's a difference between a "Good Grind" and a "Bad Grind."
A Good Grind is one where you don't feel as if you're grinding. But that isn't Destiny, though. Its torture. And its ultimately made pointless because you insist on following your planned obsolescence model of rendering previous content inferior or worthless. We invest hours upon hours of our lives into hunting down various weapons and armor, most of which held hostage by your crippling RNG, only to get slapped in the face by you. How is that fun? How is that a rewarding experience?
The Division is a testament to what your game COULD have been...
EDIT: I seldom edit my own posts, but I feel the need to clarify for those commenting. (I thought I was clear enough the first time but I guess not)
Its not a matter of whether or not you should play The Division, the point being made is that the game has all the things that Destiny lacks, things that it desperately needs/has needed since the very beginning. The Division has those gameplay elements and we can now see them in actual practice. The context of their game really doesn't matter in this regard.
Destiny has always had the potential to have all of these things that I listed, as well as the ability to go much further than that because of its setting. But it just never did and the studio has been serving to further hinder and hold the game back from realizing said potential.
Despite its context and "realistic" setting, the fact remains that The Division is similar in concept to Destiny and acts as direct competition, a much needed rival that can take Bungie to task and show them and Activision how to actually make a game like this.

1 ReplyI'm going to have to disagree on this. You have high hopes for the Division, I get that and I want to as well. But let's face reality, how many enemy varieties do you think the game will have? What is their endgame like? If you think it will be a continuously awesome experience, you may be disappointed. It will be exactly like destiny except without the cool jumping. It will be you running to take cover, peek out and shoot. That's all it seems to be. I will say, the drop system seems much better than destiny. You can add attachments to your weapons to make them stronger. There seems to be a lot of vanity items and cool armor. But content wise, it will be the same if not worse than destiny. I will still pick it up because I'm hoping to eat my words.

8 RepliesYeah the dark zone thing, it will be a haven for trolls and jerks who just sit there and set up ambush areas to take the things you found in the zone that are not yours until you can get them on a chopper outside of the dark zone! That right there will be the most frustrating part for most of the players because there will be groups of players who will just camp and ambush just because they can! That right there will be the reason I will rent to see if it is rampant or not before I decide to buy it!

1 ReplyThe Division seems to take Destiny's good elements and provide players with the elements it was missing that the community cried out for. Gave it a (great looking) Tom Clancy/GoW/ME 3rd person view, a decent destructible cover system and a weapon system that rewards exploration rather than grinding. This game will be amazing, and will make Destiny amazing. Bungie will realise they have serious competition that aligns directly with its genre, (battlefront, fallout and COD weren't its genre) and this will result in Bungie pulling out the big guns to attract players back. Admittedly they should've brought them out sooner to convince people to stay with Destiny, rather than leave and then possibly come back.
-
Unfortunately I will not even entertain 3rd person shooters. Even if they look as nice as this. I want to directly see where my weapon is pointing. For me it takes me out of the immersion.

Besides the fact that they are now doing the exact same thing that bungievision did and cut out most of the content to sell later as DLC'S. Took out options like P2P trading, which will be sold in a DLC. Basically, we're looking at the new destiny. Full of lack luster content, unfinished bullshit and for them to -blam!- us in the ass with DLC that they cut out of the game. I'm not supporting this and NO ONE should. Wait, -blam!-ing wait until the DLC'S come out and then buy it for a fraction of the price. Please, for the love of God and all that is holy. EVERYONE that bought destiny should have learnt by now. Look up "The division cut content" and just read through it. We all need to stop supporting this terrible business practice. Nothing will get better until we show these gaming companies that we won't buy into their bullshit.

The 3rd person view is throwing me off a bit, but it has potential.

3 RepliesHoly shit! Are those radial menus at the 3 minute mark?! A great mechanic that seems to be foreign to Bungie...

At the very least, The Division will provide healthy competition for Destiny. Gamers will benefit from competition in these hybrid genre games. I really like the classless system The Division is employing. Gone is having grind up multiple characters so you can fill different roles as your group requires. The crafting and mod systems are key for the RPGs and I think Destiny, a game in which recovering lost tech is in the lore, would greatly benefit from crafting and weapon mods. And I do like that the world in The Division appears more open. We will all see on release how it compares to Destiny, but hopefully the game will really give us an open world. And it will be fun to see how Bungie responds with Destiny 2: Electric Boogaloo.
-
Save it until we play it. I'm still alittle bothered that a company has followed the foot steps of destiny Hopefully they pull it off though. I wonder if it really will have a story!

1 ReplyShut up. Let the game come out. Stop overhyping shit.
-
Destiny is over thank god an actual game this time

2 RepliesThe more I read about The Division the LESS I feel it's similar to Destiny. I'm thinking it's more like a multiplayer version of the witcher with guns in NYC. And I'm fully on board for that experience.

1 ReplyShouldn't this be part of the gaming section? Not the feedback?

1 ReplyI agree with almost all of what you are saying. A couple exceptions are crafting and clans. Crafting while interesting can be frustrating and annoying and take away from the gaming experience. Make it simple and then it's enjoyable. Make it overly complicated and the game will suck. Clans (in game) are a great idea but I thought the idea of The Division was that you play an agent that is deep cover and in that regard you wouldn't necessarily know other agents due to the compartmentalization of personnel. I think you should be able to join up with others but also be able to betray the in game if you want.

7 RepliesAnother good thing is it's not on last gen consoles.

2 RepliesI'm surprised Bungie lets division employees post on their site.

1 ReplyEdited by Acehunter25: 1/20/2016 6:16:17 PMMan I'm hoping for this game, personally I'm excited as shit but dealing with Bungie has made me cautious of course As long as the mechanics feel smooth and natural this game will definitely be the best thing I've touched on a console.. It seems like it'll be like Borderlands and Battlefield had a love child and the child was perfect

5 RepliesJust the ability to customise my weapon with the perks I want does it for me. I absolutely hate getting a new gun in destiny only to delete it because of sh1t perks that I can't change.
-
Looks promising. Wait and see.

31 RepliesLol! The dark zone is a joke/grind trap. In the dark zone I could win some awesome loot but not actually get that loot, combine that with the fact that you must do dark zone (has it has the best loot according to everything I've read). At least with destiny if I rightfully win something it's mine and oh ya I can pretty much use it right on the spot (engrams excluded) but with this shit I'll have to go back to my hub to use it. Talk about a way to increase play time that's cheap.
-
Can't agree with anything that is said here until the game actually releases. BUT i am stoked for it.

3 RepliesYou wasted an hour just writing this.

We'll see.
