24.19% of Trials Kills...

1,000 Yard Stare. I'm not saying snipers deserve a nerf, but something needs to happen. EDIT: I think some primaries should be buffed, snipers should do more precision damage, and less body shots. Also, you should spawn in without special ammo. EDIT TO PREVIOUS EDIT: I am not complaining. I primaried the sniper myself.

  • It's mainly used because you can obtain it easily and is one of the only good snipers that can Rez-Snipe.

  • It's simply because of the playstyle of the gamemode (conservative from range) and has absolutely 0% due to the 1kys (in addition to that being the only available legendary in yr2).

  • Sooooo...75% of the time your getting killed by something else. Anyone using a sniper is using the 1k stare, the RR4, or No Land Beyond. And until Bungie introduces more high impact sniper rifles into the game, this isn't going to change.

  • I wouldn't take those stats from trials report too close to heart, they are not 100 % accurate. For example it says I've been flawless 6x this year it's more like 3.

  • It's one of only 2 year 2 snipers that can revive snipe, of course people use it. Plus they get it for free

      In year One you get killed by.... Supremacy Longbow Synthesis LDR Shadow of Veils Her Benevolence And don't forget the Ice Breaker warriors Efrideet's Spear Nice diversity of snipers that players could customize and switch to. Year Two you get killed by 1000 Yard Stare Eirene (Rarely even see this anymore) Stillpiercer (Hunter exclusive with a misaligned scope.....) Of course people are going to complain since '1000 Yard Stare' is all you see in the top right when you die from a sniper. It's not overpowered at all. It's OVERUSED and for a very good reason.

      • The only issue I have with snipers is Rez sniping. If they couldn't Rez snipe then it would be better imo

            • No no no, snipers need more body damage and there needs to be a better variety of snipers. Less body damage my ass, I can't even take out a tier 1 enemy in pve with a body shot.

                So 24% of kills are with snipers then? Not many people use anything other than 1000YS because it was handed out to everyone through a quest, the overall numbers for snipers won't be much higher, I don't think that's too high to be honest, especially considering the type of game mode it is.

              • I think the reason snipers are a popular secondary now is that they're the only weapon that consistently performs as it should. Shotgun range always feels random, fusion rifles define random, and the sidearm just doesn't feel *good* yet. I'm not doubting it as a secondary, but I don't like how they feel [i]at all[/i]. But if I shoot someone in the head with a sniper, it's a kill. If I shoot someone in the body twice, it's a kill. Always kicks up, always lands inside my reticle.

              • So you're telling me people use something other than primaries? No way, it's a high impact sniper which can res snipe, if you're mad at that, don't run out into sight lines foolishly and you won't get punished. If there's any problem with PvP it's heavy ammo in small team games.

                • Snipers should do less body shot damage imo. Theyre a low risk high reward weapon . Those who get headshots shouldnt have a problem but many people go for the body shot-quick primary shot . Scrubbiest move in the game

                  Or if special ammo only dropped on round 2 and 4 but after those respective rounds that you picked up special it would go away. like on round 3 when heavy drops

                • Here is an idea: you start the match with 3 special weapon rounds if using shotgun or sniper. After a set time in each round following the first round a special ammo crate spawns at a random location of the map on the side of the team that lost the previous round. Special ammo crates will reward 3 rounds of shotgun or sniper ammo to the person who opens the crate and [b]only[/b] the person who opens the crate. This will introduce more strategy and team play as not only do you have to plan for getting/denying special ammo but you have to coordinate which one of your teammate gets special ammo. Leave sidearms the way they are, they are not one hit kill weapons and are basically primaries in regards to damage.

                    What needs to change? We should nerf a vendor sniper rifle? What planet are some of you people on? Majority of trials kills has ALWAYS been a sniper rifle with thorn creeping in during year 1 due to how ridiculous it was.
