Coming from an FPS fan since Goldeneye 007, here's my input.
Most competitive playlist in most other good FPS games have no radar. Halo (MLG), CoD, Battlefield (Hardcore), etc.
The most competitive game type in Destiny is obviously ToO (whether you consider it competitive or not), this should be added.
If this gets enough attention as my other thread that got deleted (lol), then maybe it'll be considered.
I, personally, think this is a must. It would really add to the experience.
Edit: People complain about snipers camping already. What a better way to flank a camper than to remove radar?
Or people camping spawns, it never works anyway. All you have to do is wait 2 minutes and capture the point for a victory. Done it multiple times with radar.
I literally cannot think of a single reason that removing radar will hurt Trials. All of the reasons you're giving me don't make sense.
Edit 2: If you don't play Trials, or you're terrible at it, why are you replying?
This is for ToO only. People are acting like I'm meaning to remove it from all game types. No, I don't think that's a good idea.
Camping your spawn in Trials for longer than 2 minutes loses the round, simple as that.
Edit 3: if you don't know, or understand map control... Don't reply.
A good team will control the map. If you're camping with no radar, you will not win against a good team that knows how to do just that.

3 RepliesNo radar, no heavy.
-
I'm all for that... and while we are at it. Lets take out heavy weapon round from trials..
-
I would love for there to be no radar... I do better when both me and the opponent is blind as I tend to have better map instincts... that's how it should be for a competitive mode... as map awareness and instincts should be just as important as gun skill.
-
I agree with no radar in competitive game, however nothing about Destiny is competitive. No radar wouldn't really work in ToO for reasons people already stated. There is just too much BS.
-
1 ReplyNo radar would be amazing..! Except for the fact that shotguns could hide in so many closed off areas, like HLG back in the good ol' Halo days, and wait for the capture zone. This would make great players push more often and make players who aren't so good at ToO hide and stay back in closed rooms more often. If they were to bring no-radar to ToO, they should remove secondary ammo at the start of each round, until the first 30 seconds for secondary to appear. Players will have to gain map control, and hold ammo crates. This will make players who rely on secondary weapons to push out to grab ammo, and risk their life.
-
1 ReplySo... you don't want a chance in Trails? At least you can use the radar to your advantage as well.
-
I agree, it should've been removed from the beginning.
-
2 RepliesThey should remove it for a weekend and see how the community reacts
-
2 RepliesOrrrr and this is really simple, only show up on the radar if you shoot?
-
I agree 100%, would stop the "oh their over there" BOOM throw nades. And most importantly, would give a slight nerf that's well deserved to the sniper fest that's been going on.
-
If this happens people will just wait until the other come to them
-
I don't play Trials, and I fully agree. I never liked the Destint radar as it takes away from actually sneaking up on enemies.
-
5 RepliesI don't really care about trials, but goldeneye... That game was the sh*t.
-
Why not make it red dot indication instead of thermal sensor?
-
1 ReplyDon't remove radar. INCREASE the distance it takes for detection on radar instead. It seems like it's at 30m or so, when it really should be at 12 or even 10m.
-
2 RepliesA little trial run like iron banner clash would be a good way to see if the community truly wants this or not.
-
no thanks...you are asking people to camp. The matches will always go much longer and people will end up having to cap the zone
-
Edited by NATANA: 1/10/2016 3:41:43 AMRemoving the radar will make people camp more. Especially in trials, there's too many areas you can control every entry point with3 players. With no radar, there's no need to ever stop looking down scope, and kunts will hard scope every entry point. This will ruin trials.
-
Yay, so now i won't know who sniped me every time I die....
-
Should have made a poll
-
1 ReplyI also saw reduce distance. That's actually better. Radar should be close range or only proc after enemy fire. Maybe give some helmets an increased radar perk
-
What if there were two Trials playlist. "Inferno Trials of Osiris" (Something like that) and just "Trials of Osiris"
-
8 RepliesI already made a post like that ,I always wanted trials to be more like inferno , I super agree with that man
-
Radar is a crutch in every fps game. Maybe if I used it more I wouldn't suck but I think it is still weak sauce.
-
5 RepliesDrops golden eye 007 reference. Considers the OP to know exactly what he's talking about.
-
2 RepliesRadar is the best approach to competitive fps because it becomes an eye to eye, face to face throw down. No excuses like, "I didn't know he was there!"
