Being gay on destiny.
I don't know if this happens to anyone else but I am sick of being kicked because I admit to being gay when someone says "oh you sound like a fag" etc etc. Just because I'm gay doesn't mean I can't shoot as good as you. I've met some gay guys on this game that are amazing but when I'm joining some randomers raid it has genuinely made me nervous of talking because you never know how homophobic they will be.

I've played with a 'feminine' sounding male. Great player no problems arose from anyone. We're making progress.

Can we recall what the op said? I can't believe how many people are giving him a hard time for revealing he is gay! He was told he sounds like a "fag". He is permitted at that point to defend himself and others in his situation by defending gay people and calling this guy a jerk for even using that word like an ignorant slob. If someone called me a a terrible name for anything I am, I would absolutely give them grief. I believe you would too. If someone calls you straight and tells you you sound like you like girls, would you not answer them and tell them "yeah I'm straight". There should be no fear attached to admitting your sexuality.

Already posted to this but I have to say the fact that people treat you this way is beyond sad. They do not represent the gaming or the destiny community. The rest of us don't care what your sexual orientation is we just want to play. On PS4.

5 RepliesAs a black woman, I've only encountered obvious racism in Destiny once, and even then it was only in my inbox. Most people don't give a flying f about who or what you are or prefer. I don't bust in the room flaunting my blackness or womanhood, and I don't make it a topic of conversation in a party. If you choose to talk about it, you don't get to dictate where the conversation goes. People are assholes and not all will accept you.

174 RepliesI will just be honest. I was born in the late 80's, I come from a different era than the newer generation. It's now "okay" or "cool" to be gay. Young guys wearing girl jeans, using "<3", dancing feminine, and so on. -blam!- all of that. The generation I come from you get your ass beat for all of that. Men are men, women are women. It's like society is trying to intertwine both sexes. Funny thing is gay people LOVE to announce they are gay, but hate negative reactions. If you can't respect my opinion, why should I respect you sucking dick?

Bigotry exists, and unfortunately, breeds virulently on forums where people are able to keep relative anonymity. That being said, avoid playing with randoms if you don't have too. I've been playing Destiny from day 1, and I only have 2-3 real life friends I play with. The others I ran into from other events and stuck with them. What does this have to do with bigotry or being gay? It has to do with being with people who accept you regardless of those things. If you are with a group that is being insensitive to you, don't wait for them to boot you, leave the group. You do not need to be insulted for who you are. Good luck.
