So I'm looking to buy a PS4 gaming headset...

I've never bought one before, so I need suggestions. I got a Turtle Beach set the other day for around $40 but I wasn't able to hear myself talk through it, which is a bit disorienting. What I'm looking for: PS4 Compatibility Noise Cancelling Mic Monitoring feature Decent sound Price under $100 Any suggestions guys?? EDIT: A lot of people are recommending the Playstation Gold set. While they certainly seem appealing, I'm reading that the mic monitoring doesn't really function as intended. A main selling point for me is actually being able to hear myself speak so I don't feel like I have to speak loudly to hear myself.

  • Ps4 gold is $60 on Black Friday at best buy. Mine just broke cuz it's kind of cheaply made. Watch the plastic hinges. But I will buy another one. It's such a good value

    • Just coming from a PlayStation gold user, my mic monitoring works amazing, too well at times being that I hear some of my own background noises as well as myself.

      • You do know that you can do mic tests in ps setting right? And adjust mic volume if you feel your too loud. There's no need for mic monitoring in less you like hearing yourself talk.

I don't know about this mic monitoring thing, but the gold headset is great, I can hear myself, my friends, and whatever game I'm playing very clearly. Also the 7.1 virtual surround is amazing. The headset comes with an app that has a special setting for Destiny (and some other games). You can hear the invisible thralls as they come up behind you. I use it sometimes just when I'm playing solo, and it also works great with blu rays movies

        • there bringing earbud type mic out soon, plugs into controller or charges up for when using on other devices, can't recall specs but price is silly, will be within your 'limit' and should solve issue but £70 ish (uk) is way too much, guess when there cheaper they'd do for chat purpose's, headphones always get on my nerves after hour or two, earphones I could use all day etc.

Go with Sennheiser. http://en-us.sennheiser.com/gaming-headsets The majority of them are expensive than what you may be looking for right now, but if you save up they're worth it. With Black Friday arriving soon, they may go on sale.

              • Speaking of which, does anyone know if I can somehow use my X12's on the PS4? I know it would probably involve an adapter and such, but still. Otherwise, if there's something like them that's in or around the same price range, I'd like to know about it.

              • PlayStation gold are very good, they also have an app from the PlayStation store that allows you to down load game specific sound profiles or you can create your own.

              • I'd look into earbuds. The ps golds are great but after an hour it gets a little hot under them. Buds let your head breath. Haha

              • After glo, turtle beach, playstation golds are all good head phones for around 100 bucks. Anything under 50 bucks is going to be trash and break after a couple of months.

I was gonna suggest the Sony gold. They are awesome, I am really happy for the price. But I have seen ur response about the voice monitoring or whatever a lot. Sooooo I wanna ask why do u wanna hear ur self so bad? They work good for me canceling out noise and I don't get dissorentaited. You should give em a shot can beat em for the price.

                    • Save some more money and go for the turtle beach px5 or the Astros A40/50. I used all those crummy models under 100 and was not worth my money. Had my px5 for close to 5 yrs now.
