How do you escape the GF to play???
We've all been there. It's getting late. You're looking at the clock waiting for her to get sleepy so you can break away. You know your fireteam is waiting for you, in the trenches, taking on hoards and hoards and screaming, "Where the hell is Poet?!?!" I've gotten to the point it's just pathetic. I go through the motions of going to bed (shower, turn lights off, bang it out) then I just lay there waiting for her to go to dream land so I can sneak through my own house like a burglar (don't turn any lights on or make loud noises and using my flashlight on my cellphone). I hit the power button to my PS3 (which sounds like a clock tower going off in a small quite apartment). I stand silently listening for any stirring. Then, finally, I get on, catch up with my friends, "hey guys, want to do the daily, the bounties, the nightfall????" and every time, "Sorry man, we've already done it."
SOOOOOO, let's hear it. What are your own escape plans to ditching the girlfriend and logging on???
EDIT: man, it sounds like a lot of you are in a relationship with someone who totally understands and appreciates your passions and you don't have to nightstalker across your house to play. That's awesome. Also, that means this thread isn't for you. I'm not looking for relationship advice. My girlfriend is not a gamer (hats off to the ladies that commented on my thread...you are one in a million). We're both athletes. We both love the same TV shows, but the video games are just not something she relates to. Sooooooo .... I would like to hear from the guys and gals that are in MY boat and require a little strategic planning to play.
EDIT: I appreciate all your posts guys and gals. While the thread was created in lighthearted fun and intended for those that wanted to laugh about how they steal away a few extra hours of play, it has really brought up some points of interest. I see some of you really struggle with this on the daily. Continue to vent, explain, advise. Thanks again.

Here I was saying how I don't mind being whipped and now I actually do. My wife was planning on visiting a friend with the kids and then her parents which means 8 hours of Destiny. 10 minutes before leaving, she tells me she wants me o drive them to visit her friend and then wait for them to be done. So here I am, sitting in the parking lot of a cafe for 2 hours while she has lunch with her girlfriends and kids and just realizing she has the money and card. I'm eating my words ruthfully while sitting in the car wishing I was playing Destiny.

Hahaha, everyone who is married probably goes through it. I've learned to prep ahead of time. You know, complete the wife's daily bounties. Dishes are washed promptly and dried, trash is taken out, picked up the mail when I got home, dinner already made, and as far as giving her that foot rub and attention she needs, that's no problem. I do it all for 2 hours of destiny a day. Funny thing is, it's like we all did the same thing just to play. I do suggest getting a SSD for your PS3. It will improve your load times dramaticly. The sooner I can access Destiny the sooner I can play on my PS3

Me and my girlfriend met online through halo and we been living together for 3 years now she doesn't play to much anymore but I do so what I do is I got in a routine of coming home spending a couple hours with her talking and cuddling she passes out and I sit up and play destiny for 2 to 3 hours then I lay down again and go to bed. I do that every night she doesn't mind it I usually have Netflix playing on my phone so she has back ground noise and I keep my volume on the game muted and keep my headphones in

If there is a hobby she enjoys that you don't prefer, offer to do it with her. She will be a lot more willing to allow you to partake in Destiny.

With the time and money put into my collection of games is pretty darn close. If you don't want to feel like you have to resort to being sneaky just talk to her and if she's doesn't like it then drop her because she doesn't like you for who you are.

3 Replieswait till you equip the exotic version, "the wife"...the exotic perk on this one is called "shutdown"...it not only creates a requirement for this to be the only exotic equipped for the rest of time but it gives the weapons sights 100% aim assist when used to detect and destroy any attempt to bypass its destiny security system by means of sneaking, crouching, or motion tracking...it effectively nullifies any use of keen scout... I have gotten past the first mission with this weapon but have also died several times...I'm still looking for a way to "cheese" the mechanics of this horribly designed exotic and will let you guys know once I've done it. edit: I've heard rumors of an item that will upgrade "the wife" another time to make its perks more useful called "girls night out"...if anyone can confirm this, please post as some of us are desperate to upgrade this exotic to a more manageable fire rate

1 ReplyMy GF is totally down with me playing. She knows the grind and she don't mind. She sits with me and points things out that I might run by. Now all I need to do is convince her to play, buy her a PS4 and get her on destiny. I do switch it up tho, Netflix and chill if you know what I mean then destiny

I married a non-gamer. I am lucky however because she works Saturday (I am off) and she goes to bed about three hours before I do (I am sleep deprived). However what I have learned is I make the decision to play and she needs to deal with it sometimes.
