So we finally got some clarification. An article regarding The Taken King in Edge magazine had this quote:
"Not all first-year exotics will be available at launch, though the missing ones will be released over time."
This is all we wanted to know Bungie.

So I'm seeing a new trend with people saying this was posted 9 months ago and stuff changes blah blah blah. Ok yes, but Bungie should have communicated these changes with us, instead of just coming out and telling us a few weeks before the expansion comes out that this was how it was going to be and barely clarify anything.

Just wanted to add that it's not about using the same exotics 3 years from now. I don't want to be relying on gjallarhorn like I am now 3 years from now, but I would like it to remain relevant damage wise if I would like to use it 3 years from now
That would be all on Bungie though to deliver more appealing and powerful exotics that are better so it wouldn't be the only weapon I'm relying on 3 years from now. Instead what they're doing by choosing what weapons we're upgrading and leaving behind is simply just lazy.

Im just referring to the exotics that are being left behind with this post, I don't really care about the legendaries, because I kind of understand why those have to be left behind.

6 RepliesI'm curious what they're going to do for the exotic bounty guns. We know invective is going with us but what about the other 5? Imagine a new player in TTK doing the thorn bounty and not even getting a weapon with max damage for TTK.

Exactly and what happens when you get to the first round of endgame and have completed it? POE was perfect in that we got new content had to play it and made raids and drops from older expansions relevant. Make gear and weapons that motivate us to rotate them in and out. Add more content to the current weekly pve rotation. NF, WH, Crota, VOG, POE, Taken King. Make it a bit harder if you want , to upgrade the older raid weapons but dammit make it an option . Why do I have to throw away my word of crota that you just allowed me to upgrade to be useful in the new content. It makes no since. We will want to use the new weapons as well. People are saying in other MMOS blah blah blah. Wtf you want this to be like WOW, where you grind your arse off and they slap you with new content and you are ripping off raid gear for blue and green drops? Not to mention tons of cool raids and instances that nobody runs because there is no way to make any of the gear useful in the new content. I sure hope they are listening to us. We don't want another MMO, we want Destiny and continue what you started with POE. Don't force us to use the new weapons and trash the old ones. Have different /new abilities on the new gear and weapons. Let us choose which work best for us in whichever situation.

Whats the point of "becoming legend", if bungie is the ones deciding what kind of legends we become by conTROLLING which exotics we get to keep? This game had so much potential. Making the same mistakes they said they learned from when TDB came out. Not buying TTK, way too many AAA games on the horizon to put up with this garbage

1 ReplyAlmost seems random, like they're making this shit up as they go with no real idea what they're doing. So many lies and contradictions, it's hard to keep track of everything. The whole "we learned from what we did with TDB exotics" was bullshit I guess since they are going right back to that despite the backlash and saying they wouldn't. Makes me wonder how much actual content there will be in ttk with all these things thrown in to inflate play time and make the grind just as constant as it's been.

What's the point of a new player playing through all that content trying to acquire all the cool legendary and exotic gear if it can't be on par with what's being offered in the Taken king. Oh but they can use something called a spark of light and immediately be level 25...effectively negating a majority of the vanilla content that they're trying to sell to would be new players.. smh bungie I honestly don't know what the -blam!- they're thinking now, I really don't. They know that all the new gear available pales in comparison to what's being offered. So rather than trying to find an intelligent solution that honors our time spent and empowers us even more to Become Legend... they say -blam!- it and take away there toys like a spoiled child because there too good. We know it and they know it but they'll never admit it.

Hypocrisy at its finest, screw destiny if thats the future, im not going to grind away for gear thats only going to be made obsolete when the next dlc drops. Gotta love the sheep that are willing to put the effort in with no reward, keep letting bungie piss down your back kids, one day you might realise that its not rain.

The frustrating thing for me personally is not the loss of any particular weapon but that I'm being asked to practically re-grind the entire game...for a DLC no less. I presumed I would not be doing this and there's just no way I can reinvest the time required to do this every year for the next nine years, I just don't have it. As a player with all the exotic weapons, all the exotic armor (except the ram), all raid weapons, full set of raid armor for all raids/POE on every character, and a fair amount of trials/IB gear I have to come to grips with the fact that this game will now leave me behind. The best thing about this game has been the community so good luck to you all with the Taken King, I've had a lot of fun with you guys. I'll probably log on occasionally to run VOG/Crota/Crucible and enjoy your company. To Bungie- I hope this works out for you. As a business guy myself I know that if I told my customers something 9 months ago or 9 years ago I better make it happen or they might be someone else's customer.

This is the most restrictive game I have seen in years! No custom games is probably the biggest restriction in destiny and the fact that you can't have optional matchmaking which even call of duty has. It really does not make sense game design wise because the first thing you think about after you designed a game is how Much freedom you will give the players and they obviously decided next to non.

15 RepliesDidn't you know?? By making us do it again Bungie manages to squeeze more hours of play out of a game that was incomplete, and will probably stay that way ever after Taken King. Makes me wonder what they're actually going to have for us to do if they're resorting to making us redo dozens of hours on releveling our exotics. DLCs are supposed to ADD NEW content, not penalize or delete previous content.

I really fear it's more evidence that they are still scrambling to decide what to do moving forward. I think the weapon tuning team thought all gear was moving forward. If true, let that sink in. Deej said ~2 weeks ago that (at the time of that interview) they still hadn't fully decided how the light system would work. Bungie may still be in way over their head. I fear we are in for more of the same for the rest of year with each next dlc until destiny 2

'you decide that their obsolete' Nothing is stopping you from using those weapons. Nobody is forcing you to use/do anything, if you want to use your fatebringer use it, it just won't be more powerful than any of the new guns. It make take you 3 mags to down a major, but you can still down him. If you DECIDE to buy TTK then that's your decision, if you DECIDE not to buy TTK. all your gear will still do as it does now, that's also your decision. Bungie didn't lie to you or screw you. If you want to play TTK play it, what they said 9 months ago applies to 9 months ago. What they say now applies to now not 10 yrs from now.
