EDIT 4:
So we finally got some clarification. An article regarding The Taken King in Edge magazine had this quote:
"Not all first-year exotics will be available at launch, though the missing ones will be released over time."
This is all we wanted to know Bungie.
EDIT 3:
So I'm seeing a new trend with people saying this was posted 9 months ago and stuff changes blah blah blah. Ok yes, but Bungie should have communicated these changes with us, instead of just coming out and telling us a few weeks before the expansion comes out that this was how it was going to be and barely clarify anything.
EDIT 2:
Just wanted to add that it's not about using the same exotics 3 years from now. I don't want to be relying on gjallarhorn like I am now 3 years from now, but I would like it to remain relevant damage wise if I would like to use it 3 years from now
That would be all on Bungie though to deliver more appealing and powerful exotics that are better so it wouldn't be the only weapon I'm relying on 3 years from now. Instead what they're doing by choosing what weapons we're upgrading and leaving behind is simply just lazy.
EDIT 1:
Im just referring to the exotics that are being left behind with this post, I don't really care about the legendaries, because I kind of understand why those have to be left behind.
ORIGINAL POST:
"The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete. Since the reveal, we’ve read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected."
-Bungie Weekly Update Dec 4, 2014-
https://www.bungie.net/7_Bungie-Weekly-Update---12042014/en/News/News?aid=12447
The quote is in the second paragraph under the thorn picture.
There's your proof skeptics. Bungie has lied and is screwin us over by saying, screw all the time you have put into your exotics, we're choosing which ones you can bring into year 2 for you.

2 Repliesthe one thing I don't want to do is waste strange coins on exotics staying behind in year 2. can I get a list of the exoitcs staying behind bungie?

Edited by BadgermanPrime: 8/26/2015 4:41:00 PMProbably get hate for this but the quote you've posted doesn't equate to lying. They say it's the last thing they wanted and that your time should be respected. Nowhere does it say that it wont happen or that your time will be respected Just saying......

Edited by OLMANCABOOSE: 8/26/2015 1:50:46 PMI think they took down the "No Exotic Left Behind Version 2" post too. Glad to see this one is still up.

6 RepliesEdited by MechaBeowulf DW: 8/24/2015 10:35:48 PMYeah, all the fanboys have switched to the "nine months" argument because the "Every other MMO" argument is false, and the "You'll have more fun that way" argument is bullshit. 1) When you say "every other MMO does this" that is false. Some MMOs do it, sure. But Planetside 2, Eve Online, and Dust 514 don't and two of those are more similar to Destiny than WoW or any of its clones will ever be. Even if it was the case that every MMO made old gear obsolete, that doesn't mean that it's the right move for Destiny. If you want WoW, go back to WoW. Why not make Destiny unique? 2) If you want to use the new guns for a "fresh experience" in TTK, nobody is stopping you. If we could Infuse year 1 gear, nothing would stop anyone from using the new weapons except for their own personal preferences, which you have no right to dictate. I love trying out new gear, but I like using my old gear, too, and I'd prefer not to be penalized for it. As for a "fresh and new experience," how about deleting your characters and starting over from scratch? I'm sure that will give you a fresh and new experience. 3) What was said was said, regardless of when it was said. Bungie said that they want to value and respect the time we've put in. Unlike some people on these forums, many of us hold developers to what they say, and if they fall short, we let them know. The fact is that Bungie has never been adept at letting us know just what the hell is going on. If they were more transparent about what's coming just around the corner so that we could prepare for it, there wouldn't be as much fuss. We all might have focused on maxing out 3-6 weapons knowing that they would be made obsolete rather that trying to ascend everything we had. Crowd Control Productions, which has had a rather rocky past with its community, still lets everybody know whats coming their way so that people that are paying attention don't get blindsided.

27 RepliesEdited by UNT_Sigma_Nu: 8/22/2015 11:17:09 PMWhat don't people understand about wanting the freedom to choose? The "do you really wanna use the same gun for 10 years?" logic is so simple minded. Ya, if I want to, I should be able to. If you don't want to, then that's perfectly fine too. To you, using the same gun might be lame, but to someone else it might be perfect. Why can't people understand and respect that? The freedom to make your own decisions is what people want. It's the same thing in life. People should be able to do what the hell they want as long as it doesn't effect you. If I want to sit in a tub of mayonnaise every night for 3 hours, what the F should it matter to you?

Another one of these posts that will be removed because it's spamming the site. Go to any gaming site and duplicate posts will be merged or removed. Don't assume it's because Bungie is the evil overlord. Don't forget that when people dislike/down vote it makes them go away also.

Lol. People have been talking about Bungie lying and the game has been dying since like week 1. You people just like to complain. You'll keep playing. Just like you always have.

1 ReplyIt puts the lotion in the basket or else it gets the hose

9 RepliesEtheric light was being developed when this was posted. This game would die if you could take your favorite weapon through the entirety of the game.

This is Sci-fi though, new bad guys render old weapons obsolete. New weapons and powers are needed.

Edited by MechaBeowulf DW: 8/25/2015 8:48:33 PMIs the petition back up, or are the Ninjas still "reading it through"? Edit: JESUS H. CHRIST THEY'VE EVEN TAKEN DOWN THE OTHER PETITION THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO REPLACE THE REALLY POPULAR ONE! WHAT IS WITH THIS COMPANY!

Liars. Why cant you see that your ruining your own game.

People lie. Bungie lied. No surprise. Question is: after TTK is released, will you stay and play on, or, move on? That question I still haven't decided on an answer. I will after 9-15-2015 and I see what they release. Destiny will live if die at Bungie's hands. I am just a player. I have nothing to lose. My money has been well spent so far...

I'm glad it's obsolete!

They should add some ascention options even if they require a long grind, or even offer an ascention equipment slot. Like maybe a new ghost temporarily asecends an equipped primary or other slot. it took them a year and 2 fixes to improve vault space for their own game design

Change it all new start

3 RepliesHonestly this will breathe new life into the game. It's not about easy mode or everyone using one of three weapons in pvp. I'd say that the biggest problem in this game is people taking the easy way out, which isn't the way it should be played. I don't personally know you so I don't know what type of player you are and this isn't directed at you. Skolas is a great example of the community losing it when bungie 1fixed the fight. They certainly should have fixed the rewards but it proves most people want to just burn things down or leach check points and that's why I embrace new weapons. It may actually make people learn how to play the game.

5 RepliesEdited by Tibbaryllis2: 8/22/2015 11:40:18 PMThe only problem with all of this is bungie doesn't have a single consistent message on items: Pre-release- earn your exotics and use the guns you want. They'll tell a story. Release- exotics are overpowered, but the only story they tell is that the rng struggle is real, or not, who knows DLC 1- all equipment left behind, you have to find new versions of your old exotics, and upgrade them, to keep them relevant. Old legendaries will not update. DLC 2- Rejoice! We've made it so all of your stuff can be upgraded to relevancy with the appropriate amount of grinding etheric light. Grind your assess off to get ready for 35 skolas and year 2. Year 2 DLC1- lolJK As much as I enjoy playing destiny. I probably won't buy any of the new content until at least 1 major game feature/mechanic remains consistent between 2 content drops. Personally I think they'd be better off completely revamping all their weapon stats as they display in the UI so that they are understandable. There would probably be less outcry if the stats weren't so much gibberish.
