This was actually a response to someone's comment but it got so long I felt like posting it.
Golden gun, is by far the easiest super to get the most amount of kills with on average. But arc blade, although it holds the possibility of being able to kill 7+ people, is incredibly easy to shut down.
Here is my reasoning for why arc blade needs to be fixed:
1. Arc blade needs better target acquisition when an enemy is on a higher or lower elevation then the arc blader.
Can't tell you how many times my target has been smack in the middle of my screen and within range, but I just keep arc blading over or under them. Jumping is a great defense against arc blader's.
2. Arc blade, as a melee, requires you to be close range to your target (except for razors edge but I will get to that later). This in in of itself isn't a bad thing, it's just part of the super however, that also means that enemies have a lot of time to shoot you as you attempt to kill him. Group shooting can take down an arc blade before you can say "blink shotgun". In addition, the close range nature of the arc blade means that people can use shotguns to shut you down every time you super, unlike golden gun which requires you to take position and get close range before 1hitting that golden gun. (Of corse sniping a golden gun can shut them down but it's significantly harder).
Between the time it takes to get to a target whilst being shot at, and the effectiveness of both shotguns and melee's (scorch melee especially as it takes two arc blade swipes to kill them) arc blade needs to have more health to be balanced.
3. Making contact but not killing.
Often I will hear the sound that indicates contact with an enemy, but they won't take damage. This could easily be attributed o lag though, so it's not my main concern.
4. Razors edge is too hard to use and is incredibly hard to use and ineffective even when used correctly at range.
I love razors edge. And if it worked better my 2nd point would be negated. But aiming it isn't easy. I've been using it for a LONG time, and the AoE is so small you have to line yourself up with your target perfectly. I will say that at close range the AoE is good, and eat enough to kill a close range target, but at a distance that you can kill them quicker with a regular arc blade melee.
I will also note that razors edge cuts through Titan bubbles like a hot knife through butter. Debatable whether it should be that good against Titan bubbles.
To emphasize my point, just yesterday I hit a guy dead on with razors edge at a fair range and it did NOTHING.
That's my reasoning. I'd welcome any counter arguments, I do love a good conversation.
Lastly, I'd like to note that I am ABSOLUTELY FINE keeping arc blade as is, because bladedancers are by far the most overpowered class for regular game play (non super/gunplay)
Edit: It's not like I haven't gotten 4+ kills with arc blade, and I would say my average is 2, to be conservative.
Edit: Thanks to: Mattx792 for bringing up these great points.
"Don't leave out what I refer to as:
5. Short Stops. You ever been going at an enemy and even though you're right there, your arc blade hit stops literally 2 centimeters in front of them. That gives them more than enough time to shotgun melee you. Every person who has played with this super in the crucible knows what in talking about. It just stops right there in front of the enemy, making you nothing more than a free kill and a wasted super.
6. Also, the damage. This is a serious issue. Arc blade doesn't have the capabilities to do a lot of things. Most notably, over shields. If there is a sunsinger with the claws of ahamkara, well too bad you lose. The flame shield makes them live through the hit, and they have another one to cover them on their way out after easily double melee'ing the melee super. Also, it takes upwards of 3 attacks to kill a sunsinger with or without radiant skin. That means they can just double melee you, shotgun melee you, or just stick you with a fusion nade and walk away as you can't do anything. Now, let's look at the other supers it can't kill. Nova bomb. 3 hits to kill a person in nova bomb. That means that you statistically cannot kill that person within their animation using your super. And Titans also, off base, take 3 hits to kill in their super, 4 with Unstoppable. Not like that matter though because you're instantly dead anyways no matter how far away you still are."

*cough* warlock melee range farther than blink strike, self resurrection, being more of a tank than a titan *cough*

2 RepliesIn PvE I think it is very underpowered. In PvP however I think it falls just second to GG. *Just my opinion
-
Bladedancer has the worst super because it can only make 4 orbs normally at most in PvE. Everything else falls down to how one plays their supers, opinions, etc. But this is a factual point where it falls short of every other super. The only other one not to make 8 is the Defender, who can make 2(or 3 with the right armour), plus a further 3 when the shield is damaged, plus orbs from heavy kills, and orbs from melee kills. So still a lot more than the Bladedancer.
-
You forgot they generate the least amount of orbs on a major/ultra kill
-
Someone doesn't know how to use arcblade
-
I love arc blade but I think it's fine how it is, I love the high risk-high reward style of it.
-
if you just spam the swing button, with third man and hungering blade, its not hard at all - unless you activate it in an absolutely awful place. and if you have any skill you can take advantage of razors edge.
-
For PvP, I would argue that it is pretty well balanced in the sense that it has the potential to wipe out an entire team even if they aren't huddled up together. I thought this post would be about how incredibly god awful it is in PvE. Far and away the absolute worst super in PvE if you are fighting anything harder than a group of low-level Thrall.
-
If they are trying to make every super negate the others through balance, you have a point. Don't listen to the haters. The ease at which other classes can shut down a blade dancer is kinda silly, but mostly sad when you truly think about it.
-
If it gets buffs they should only apply to pve I think it's ok as it is in pvp
-
Poor target acquisition....What a joke. They're like heat seeking great white sharks with lasers attached to their heads. I've even grenaded myself to try to use bloom to shut them down.
-
The super is fine for the most part but I do hate when I hear the sound of my hit connecting and then that same person takes no damage. The short stops are definitely the cause of 75% of my deaths with arc blade.
-
Bladedancer is the easiest super to do well with. If you try to rush three guys with shot guns in trials you're gonna die that's just how the world works.
-
2 Replies"Needs better tracking"? Are you high? If anything it needs less. Like, waaaaaaay less.
-
2 RepliesI think its fine in PvP, but in PvE its too weak. Other's supers can one-hit kill most mayors but the Bladedancer its 2 hits or more (depending the enemy level), also really poor orbs of light drops.
-
87
I broke it
-
You forgot the orbs. Why the hell would they make it produce less orbs??
-
Blink bladedancer... "Drops mic"
-
I agree with demon slayer, the orb drop rate is crap compared to other supers. As for your post though from the point of view of someone with a crap ton of games as blade dancer, it's easy as piss to get 3 or 4 kills per super. My record is 7. It needs neither a buff not a nerf. I wish people would leave the game as it is there is nothing wrong with the classes. On a side note, I can't wait for the new hunter subclass that shit looks pimp as
-
It is weak af
-
Golden gun, is by far the easiest super to get the most amount of kills with on average.
Completely disagree.
-
Arc blade is fine the way it is, save for how shitty the orb system is for it.
-
Edited by Grey: 8/22/2015 7:35:45 AMAlso. More orbs. It's retarded to kill the same amount of people, if not more, and quite literally get half the orbs for doing so. Might have been in the original but it was to long to read. Aha
-
Needs a health buff for PvE
-
I think it needs a buff in PvE and that's about it.
am I the only one comfortable with how supers are in PvP? Except Fireborn - Radiance.. I don't think that should have damage reduction upon rez
-
Funny thing i easily get 3-4 kills with it
