This was actually a response to someone's comment but it got so long I felt like posting it.
Golden gun, is by far the easiest super to get the most amount of kills with on average. But arc blade, although it holds the possibility of being able to kill 7+ people, is incredibly easy to shut down.
Here is my reasoning for why arc blade needs to be fixed:
1. Arc blade needs better target acquisition when an enemy is on a higher or lower elevation then the arc blader.
Can't tell you how many times my target has been smack in the middle of my screen and within range, but I just keep arc blading over or under them. Jumping is a great defense against arc blader's.
2. Arc blade, as a melee, requires you to be close range to your target (except for razors edge but I will get to that later). This in in of itself isn't a bad thing, it's just part of the super however, that also means that enemies have a lot of time to shoot you as you attempt to kill him. Group shooting can take down an arc blade before you can say "blink shotgun". In addition, the close range nature of the arc blade means that people can use shotguns to shut you down every time you super, unlike golden gun which requires you to take position and get close range before 1hitting that golden gun. (Of corse sniping a golden gun can shut them down but it's significantly harder).
Between the time it takes to get to a target whilst being shot at, and the effectiveness of both shotguns and melee's (scorch melee especially as it takes two arc blade swipes to kill them) arc blade needs to have more health to be balanced.
3. Making contact but not killing.
Often I will hear the sound that indicates contact with an enemy, but they won't take damage. This could easily be attributed o lag though, so it's not my main concern.
4. Razors edge is too hard to use and is incredibly hard to use and ineffective even when used correctly at range.
I love razors edge. And if it worked better my 2nd point would be negated. But aiming it isn't easy. I've been using it for a LONG time, and the AoE is so small you have to line yourself up with your target perfectly. I will say that at close range the AoE is good, and eat enough to kill a close range target, but at a distance that you can kill them quicker with a regular arc blade melee.
I will also note that razors edge cuts through Titan bubbles like a hot knife through butter. Debatable whether it should be that good against Titan bubbles.
To emphasize my point, just yesterday I hit a guy dead on with razors edge at a fair range and it did NOTHING.
That's my reasoning. I'd welcome any counter arguments, I do love a good conversation.
Lastly, I'd like to note that I am ABSOLUTELY FINE keeping arc blade as is, because bladedancers are by far the most overpowered class for regular game play (non super/gunplay)
Edit: It's not like I haven't gotten 4+ kills with arc blade, and I would say my average is 2, to be conservative.
Edit: Thanks to: Mattx792 for bringing up these great points.
"Don't leave out what I refer to as:
5. Short Stops. You ever been going at an enemy and even though you're right there, your arc blade hit stops literally 2 centimeters in front of them. That gives them more than enough time to shotgun melee you. Every person who has played with this super in the crucible knows what in talking about. It just stops right there in front of the enemy, making you nothing more than a free kill and a wasted super.
6. Also, the damage. This is a serious issue. Arc blade doesn't have the capabilities to do a lot of things. Most notably, over shields. If there is a sunsinger with the claws of ahamkara, well too bad you lose. The flame shield makes them live through the hit, and they have another one to cover them on their way out after easily double melee'ing the melee super. Also, it takes upwards of 3 attacks to kill a sunsinger with or without radiant skin. That means they can just double melee you, shotgun melee you, or just stick you with a fusion nade and walk away as you can't do anything. Now, let's look at the other supers it can't kill. Nova bomb. 3 hits to kill a person in nova bomb. That means that you statistically cannot kill that person within their animation using your super. And Titans also, off base, take 3 hits to kill in their super, 4 with Unstoppable. Not like that matter though because you're instantly dead anyways no matter how far away you still are."

4 RepliesGood post man, knew people would trash it as soon as they saw the words "Arc Blade" or "Bladedancer". You can tell these people don't know jack or shit, lol arc blade can be shut down by literally anything with relative ease. Only reason to use the subclass is blink/quickdraw really. As for people saying WoD is worse, no it's actually better if you use it with armor of light, it takes upwards of 3 arc blade hits to kill any individual inside the bubble so long as the Titan is using armor of light.

1 ReplyI agree completely with you. As a hunter as my main class, I tend to alternate subclasses quite a bit. I realized that the only reason I ever used Bladedancer was for acrbolt grenades and blink. The super itself was a good way to get a quick death, especially in 6v6. 80% of the time that I use Arc Blade the enemy that I am attempting to kill will also pop their super. If that super is a fist of havoc or nova bomb, then it's an instant RIP. Another thing is that that enemy doesn't even need a super to kill you. Arc Blade goes back to the ages of sticks and stones when people didn't use guns, and instead ran at each other, like idiots, with knives. Don't you think a super like this should get more damage reduction than 10%. A well timed shotgun+melee will kill an arc blade on the spot (this is really easy to do as a warlock). If you don't have that then two or more teammates wielding Thorn/Last Word will melt an Arc Blade down to ashes in a second. Lastly, Arc Blade is not the easiest super to use. Nova Bomb and Fist of Panic take two buttons......that's it. Have a good day :)

All I've got to say is high risk high reward. Arc blade is probably the riskiest super to use, as I'm easiest to shut down yes, but are blade has the most potential to get the most kills. So if in anyway the arcblade should get buffed then the time that arcblade has should be reduced.
-
Yeah, the Arc Blade is the easiest super to counter. Sure, it can get a lot of kills, but vs a good team there's nothing you can do. I think all it needs is a damage increase so it can one hit overshielded enemies and 2 people mid nova or fist.

4 RepliesIt does not matter how long a wall of text you write. Arc blade is stil the most OP super in pvp. Oh look you play hunter and want your OP super buffed. Muted for idiocy.
-
It's fine

1 ReplyI've -blam!-ed up a whole team Arc Blading. You must just suck with it.
-
It's an offense super and it is the best one at that. So ur prolly using it from
-
Shotgun + Melee = dead bladedancer
-
I completely hear you. It's exciting to chain kills together with Arc Blade but it's so easy to die because of its limitations. This is both a good/bad thing.
-
Wow. Great write up. Bungie seems to be trying to balance everything and this needs to be on the list for sure.
-
All of this is true.
-
1 ReplyIf you guys are lazy to read all of this.....in short he thinks its smart to have even less skill involved in arc blade..
-
Best pvp supper ok for pve

10 RepliesThis is a well thought out troll. Blade dancer is the easiest super to use.
-
I really think that arc blade is a decent super but the perk tree is way good it's running a very tight race with sun singer
-
8 RepliesReally? Arc Blade is hardest to get kills with? That's why our whole team in Skirmish was wiped out by an arc blade that we tried to down but kept blinking away and putting us down.
-
4 RepliesI think actually WoD is more underpowered

-
1 ReplyBlade dancer is the best class in the game, I love it so much so stop complaining!
git

gud

scrub
2 RepliesYou can't have the most mobile super hit the hardest and make you even tanker. It is 100 % fine. I use it to kill, escape, reposition, tank a rocket while rezzing team mates on heavy round. As for the stopping thing - you always get 3 swings and then a short pause on the ground - get aerial to be more consistent. Is it frustrating to get shotty meleed? Sure. But if that happens to you consistently - you're using it wrong. I see so many people try to charge teams across open sight lines. Use it during split pushes, misdirection, baits, etc to make it more useful and do more for your team.
-
I feel like arcblade is equally as frustrating for the people using it as the people dying by it.
-
2 RepliesBut- that subclass is one of the most unique and powerful subclasses in the game. You trade in a good super for invisibility, which in invaluable in Nightfalls.
-
Edited by ShadowInsurgent: 8/22/2015 9:00:50 PMWtf? So a long duration, damage reducing, medium distance and mobile super is weaker than a stationary defensive bubble that can be broken easily?
-
Thanks, but no thanks / Titans

But there is so many people that just freeze up when they see an arc blade. I can kill them but it sometimes gets annoying when people don't shoot them And just get smacked
