So I just got the season pass last night after missing out for so long on the dark below. I want to try crota but I failed to find a newbie guide for it detailing what I should be taking in with me and what the basics are. Vog there was loads of information and every one was quite good at picking up a first timer but not seeing much information kicking about on this. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't run a Crota raid yet either, and I'm curious. Would rockets with proximity detonations be as effective as tracking as long as it had a big blast radius?
-
Icebreaker is all you need for the most part. Abyss: +2agility and makes thrall go boom in a chain reaction Bridge: most likely cheesing so icebreak the sword guy and snipe across Deathsinger: witch's solar shield gets worked by icebreaker Crota: icebreaker gets boomers duty A good tracking rocket launcher helps with deathsinger and crota. Something like truth or ghorn.

1 ReplyI'm experienced enough that I can go through it with a team as a 27. I don't recommend you do :P Just get your weapons maxed out and you'll be good.
-
6 Repliesfang of ir yût/blackhammer/hunger of crota. best setup for your first crota raid

Find a youtuber you like that has done a guide, give it a watch, then give it a go. NUMBER ONE RULE: be honest with the team you are joining, most will be happy to help and explain, but you need to let them know! Good luck!

Best to just get stuck in! You may struggle at first with the lamp maze so tryn get someone to run if for you. Kill yourself and follow them on death cam. I would do this for you but I'm on XBL. Try to learn the map and where the knights are.
blade dancing hunter with don't touch me gauntlets
On the bridge, very few teams actually do this properly. But it's not difficult to, especially on normal. Just go with the flow.
fireborn warlock is particularly cheesy cheese
Thrallway. Rocket the 2 shriekers and run through. One guy can bait the thralls off to the left while someone takes the 2nd shrieker down. Blade dancing hunter can melee for invis and run through to the room at the end with a chest in practically haste free
shrieker death balloons can chase you even when invisible. Door is on a timer from entering thrallway. Don't fall into the big hole at the end
Ir Slût.. ice breaker for the wizards, rockets for the shriekers. Obv gjallajorn if you have it for all. Not much to say other than have the team you go in with tell and show you how to bait the wizards out and take the shriekers down. You will likely be told to head to the far left or far right towers and shoot the wizards when they're out. Everyone will pile in the crystal room when she sings to take her down.
exotics can drop from her. Pretty easy to kill if you jump up on the door frames in the crystal room and strife acolyte/boomer shots. No class advantages really. I guess you could go invis for hassle free access to the crystal room
Crota... be sure to take heavy ammo synths. Xurs in town so get stocked up. team will tell you where to go n stuff. Tracking rockets are desirable but not necessary! You can fire a non tracking rocket with huge blast radius at his feet. No rocket launcher, hit him with a steady sniper or even primary (thorn is good). If you have others in your team with RL's you should be fine. Nothing really to add. It's a fun, albeit short, raid with decent gear and weapon drops. Have fun :)

It's pretty easy if you have a team that's willing to explain. It's easier to understand when you're in the actual raid doing it, add me I love helping new people to the raids.

Maxed weapons, or at least close. Max your agility for the lamps section. A weapon with an agility perk will help too. A weapon with Firefly will be useful. A weapon or piece of armor that provides any type of health regen is very handy on the Crota fight. Bring some heavy synths. Bring a a primary with low ammo count in case they want to do the heavy ammo glitch. I prefer just about any hand cannon. You'll need Ice Breaker for this. Be willing to listen, learn, and have fun!

Bring your best weapons, heavy synths 'and your ears! Find a group that will let you do it with them (take part in every checkpoint) don't cheese it (it's more fun that way). Don't get disheartened if you mess up as we've all been there. Most of all have a laugh whilst doing it. Send me a friends request if you still need to do it. Psn DBC9MX (just add a message to the request)

1 ReplyLearn an acute sense of timing, bring tracking rockets. Preferably a Gjallarhorn, but not necessarily
-
Have lots of Heavy Ammo Synthesis, coordiante with your team a lot. At the Abyss, make sure if your in front that you cover the back.
-
1 ReplyFor the love of god, please have maxed out weapons. I've seen people with blues in there.
-
2 RepliesWhatever gun you're most effective with and a functional mic are probably most important. I find that a good scout with firefly is my go to primary for most of the raid
-
2 Repliesprepare to have fun...

Get a maxed legendary rocket (or exotic) Get a group of friends or a patient group with good sword bearer

1 ReplyI just finished my first Crota runs yesterday, on normal and hard. What I learned: Be patient Pay attention Learn as much as you can Bring your best weapons. Heavy ammo synths PS thanks to the group willing to coach me through it all!
-
watch a youtube video on how to do it. you wont find many ppl anymore who will help "noobs" i know it sad but its true. im on ps4, send me a invite.
-
Heavy Ammo synths! Tracking RPGs if possible ( not really necessary though) Be confident in yourself, and patient. Abyss: Stick together

2 RepliesIf you have a MIDA Multitool I would recommend running the Abyss solo maybe 10 or so times to get a feel for where the pits are, what turns to take, when to go uphill, etc. that way when it's time for a real run you won't be learning that part as you go. Everything else can be learned easily on the fly with a team, but lamp/pit/hill positions in the Abyss just takes memorization. The absolute *best* way to do this is with a level 30+ Hunter with Don't Touch Me gauntlets and a MIDA Multitool with everything in Bladedancer specced for agility and invis. That way if thralls do hit you there's the auto invis to help you recover, and also while invis you can sort of see in the dark. But your hunter is only level 7 so that would be a while. But if you just run it enough you'll be able to get a good feel for it on the other classes too. The maps for the bridge and Ir Yut/Crota sections are bog simple, don't even worry about those. And most people cheese the bridge on normal because it's just faster and simpler and most of folks now are just looking to check off the raid for the week. Just roll with it and follow their directions.

1 ReplyA maxed primary, you have VoC which is actually pretty useful in this raid. Your Efr. Spear is perfect for Shooting ogres, swordbearer and or boomer distraction. A maxed tracking rocket. Going off Grimoire, assuming unlocked by acquiring the weapon. Icebreaker - Abyss and Bridge Gjallarhorn - Crota and Deathsinger Mida - Abyss Red Death - Crota Hard
-
I would suggest fatebringer, icebreaker and a rocket launcher fully maxed with tracking. Without spoiling the fb and Ib will help take out mobs fast which will really help you in the first part. Try and get a few experienced Crota Enders to take you through, explaining each section. It will always help being level 30+ on normal and 31 at least on hard.good luck hope this helps.
