I searched for the full passage, and it really caught my attention. Take a look:
NOW this is the law of the jungle, as old and as true as the sky,
And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree trunk, the law runneth forward and back;
For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack.
Wash daily from nose tip to tail tip; drink deeply, but never too deep;
And remember the night is for hunting and forget not the day is for sleep.
The jackal may follow the tiger, but, cub, when thy whiskers are grown,
Remember the wolf is a hunter—go forth and get food of thy own.
Keep peace with the lords of the jungle, the tiger, the panther, the bear;
And trouble not Hathi the Silent, and mock not the boar in his lair.
When pack meets with pack in the jungle, and neither will go from the trail,
Lie down till the leaders have spoken; it may be fair words shall prevail.
When ye fight with a wolf of the pack ye must fight him alone and afar,
Lest others take part in the quarrel and the pack is diminished by war.
I have a feeling this perfectly summarizes the experience we're about to dive into. What do you think?

Good read. Love a good poem, always
For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack.
Lots of stuff I have to say, I'll first start with this: Do you guys remember the poems that were released once a day for a week? This trailer as well as those 7 poems weren't just simple storytelling. They were far more in value to the story that Destiny will tell, as well sharing true wisdom. If this the caliber of expression that isn't in game, I am in love with this. The quote above is a saying that I can put in a different light for you. The pack is this whole universe, all that exists. The wolf is one, the single person each of us are. What it basically states is this: All is one, and one is all. This universe is a fractal, the link at the top is a good explanation. But in this case it can just be taken as wolf & pack, but it means more. So yeah, if this is the beautiful depth that will be coming from Bungie, I love all of this.
Remember the wolf is a hunter
This answered all of my questions.

An incredibly cool way of saying 'better with friends'.
-
I had been wondering about this. Who wrote it?
-
Thanks for the chapter bit!!! It's great to see (and think) a game experience go BEYOND the simple imagery of the game itself. I wonder if any teachers have thought to use this to help their students go beyond "the game". I've used games for data collection, but things like this could help it go in yet another direction!

I get the feeling that they're going to do something similar with the Titan and the Warlock as this trailer clearly dealt with the Hunter class. Perhaps dealing with other animals such as an Owl for the Mage and something like a lion or bear for the Titan.
When ye fight with a wolf of the pack ye must fight him alone and afar, Lest others take part in the quarrel and the pack is diminished by war.
It would be interesting if this meant that you not only fight aliens but human traitors as well

I can't effin' wait for this game. :-)
-
This is only a fraction of Kiplings Poem from the Jungle Book.
-
Yep totally trying to tell us its better with friends. Now I've just got to find some friends to play with, or better yet make some new ones since my current group of friends don't seem to have much interest in Destiny.
-
What I think is intresting is that during Halo Reach, Bungie focused slightly more on the Lone Wolf aspect, although in Destiny, they've shifted towards Wolf Pack, with playing cooperatively with friends. Either way, this game is going to be brilliant.

I think Kipling is a pretty awesome dude. Read more of his stuff, you'll like it. He's got some good short stories too. Mark of the beast is a good one.

Copy.Paste.Wikipedia. ;)

The Jungle Book was my favorite read as a child. I agree I think this sums up the battlefield that lies before us.
-
I feel this passage is litteraly a strict law of how the campaigns character might be or how co-op runs...... or im just looking too much into it haha
-
My thoughts are you can go lone wolf in this game but it is probably not a good idea...
-
So do you think each class represent one of those three classes?
-
Yeah. I made a thread on this a few minutes ago but it faded into obscurity hah. Very interesting passage. I never actually read the Jungle Book so I never knew of this before.
-
Thanks for posting this I was quite curious.

Did this too and I am pleased to read this
