Athiests cannot prove evolution

Ok... Now that all of the butthurt Christians and self-proclaimed intellectuals(Atheists) are here, we can get started. I've noticed a lot of hate on these forums, especially on the "intellectual" side, and I've decided that it's time for us to come together again. One of the Atheist's strongest beliefs is that what our world lacks as a whole is Tolerance. They say that a lack of tolerance, or respect of another persons beliefs, has been the cause of all wars since the beginning of man. But if you're hating on religion just because you think it's silly, are you not the ones who lack Tolerance? And Christians, we shouldn't be the first to point out someones faults or judge their morals. Coming to you as a well studied Creationist I know that it can be hard to make sense of a science that doesn't sit well with your beliefs, and I know that it makes you angry when they have you stumped. Many people ask the question "What happened to the Flood?", "Why is everyone into politics and religion and other boring stuff?". Well I'll tell you. The Flood grew up, and being grown ups with many different world views and opinions makes it hard to get along. But getting along is also part of growing up. Tolerance is important, and it's something that Jesus and many other influential people(including non-religious people) have worked so hard to teach us. I encourage all of you to respect each other while debating, and remember that not everything can be proved with science.

  • This thread is stupid and as always OP is a fag. Change the misleading title at least. I thought this would be some dumb theist asking the flood to prove evolution and disprove creationism.

  • evolution is only understandable to those who have a strong grip on what time really consists of...some minds see it as a time line while others see it as non existant...the past is now and the future doesnt exist yet...so religeous adn atheists can both be on either side of understanding....its only what they choose to believe

  • 1. Religion and science are not incompatible. 2. Your last sentence is correct. 3. We should love and respect everyone, like Jesus taught us to do, even if we hate their beliefs.

            • That's all fine. Just know that if anyone uses their beliefs to justify bigotry, intolerance and outright hatred, that itself does not deserve toleration. Also, do not treat your beliefs as anything but that. I see your are a Creationist, fine, I just don't think that is science. Now I'll be down with Creationism being taught in schools, but every other faith must get represented and be refered to as a mythology course. Throw in the Hindu perspective on what formed the universe, give us what the ancient Greeks and Romans thought, throw in the Norse beliefs. Mythology has a crucial part to play in human development, it shows the imaginative and creative thoughts that our ancestors had and their attempts to explain the world they found themselves in.

            • "But if you're hating on religion just because you think it's silly, are you not the ones who lack Tolerance?" This is what I find wrong with your post, and why I stopped reading after that. Are you assuming all Atheists hate religion because it's silly? In my experience, a lot of Atheists don't hate religion at all.

            • "I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing." "But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It proves you exist, and so therefore you don't. Q.E.D." "Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic. "Oh! That was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.

              • I believe in evolution but I also believe in God as the creator. One of God's attributes is "Al bari" meaning "The evolver" so whatever he creates to evolve can evolve.

Atheism has no "beliefs" There is no structure, no rituals, no scripture, nothing you need to think. Get that? Its annoying when people identify something as an "atheist" belief, when there are no atheist beliefs.
One of the Atheist's strongest beliefs is that what our world lacks as a whole is Tolerance.
I thought one of the main features of athiesm is that there are no beliefs to be derived from it, it leaves the person to figure out their own morals through their own logic. I don't know what 'beliefs' you think athiests hold, that isn't one of them.

                    • By the way, we were always into this stuff. Hell, when the discussions went down we were at each other's throats in seconds. It's just that now the mods don't care if we post about politics and religion, so we naturally are posting about politics and religion when we want to, which as always is very often.

                    • Atheists are pseudo intellectuals and have a huge chip on their shoulder. And it's usually teenage kids who think they're cool. Don't expect much maturity out of those people.

While on the one hand you are right to an extent on your title...there is the other side. Christianity, among other religions cannot prove their existence of their religious leaders/God(s) either. Hence the current pickle we are in. Until one thing pops up that proves one side (or even just one religion), we'll be stuck like this for a while. Better to just wait it out until God(s) talk from the sky, Jesus/Mohammed/ other religious figures appear, or until scientists prove whatever theory we have of how the Universe started at the moment, while Buddhists just sit back anyway (They don't have a God in their belief, right?)

Is there anyone out there who actually tolerates everything... or would like to? We use our ability to discriminate between right and wrong, so that we can tolerate the good things and not tolerate the bad. Nobody is saying "hey, just be tolerant of everything". Instead, they've identified some things that should be tolerated, and are promoting it. Being intolerant to something that's bad is not itself a bad thing. The world would be a much better place if people took informed, strong stances on things.
